  3. http://news.independent.co.uk/world/middle_east/article2132569.ece "the potential prizes for Western firms will give ammunition to critics who say the Iraq war was fought for oil. They point to statements such as one from Vice-President Dick Cheney, who said in 1999, while he was still chief executive of the oil services company Halliburton, that the world would need an additional 50 million barrels of oil a day by 2010. "So where is the oil going to come from?... The Middle East, with two-thirds of the world's oil and the lowest cost, is still where the prize ultimately lies," he said. I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all.
  4. Do you think it will get this far? http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2089-2535310,00.html I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all.

I said "Keep it" It was only a few hundred bucks. They also told me they only go back 7 yrs. I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all.

  7. Sure, while in your little situation carrying a gun may not help you, there are equal numbers of situations where having a gun could save you. Case in point a guy comes up to a buddy of mine, and pulls a knife on him. He hands over his wallet and watch like asked. The criminal then turns to my buddies GF and asks for her purse. She starts to hand it over and the guy starts paying attention to her...At that point my buddy pulls out his pistol and tells the criminal to drop his knife and his wallet and watch. The criminal does and then runs. [ironic voice]Amazingly my friend didn't even shoot the guy!!!! Wow, who would have thought that a gun when drawn does not always have to shoot someone?[/ironic voice] As Douva wrote, there are LOTS of things that you might need but probably won't. Those with finite resources and mere human strength can't have all of them with us. I would like to see some proof that a concealed gun should be high on the list. I agree w/ you on most stuff Mr. Kallend BUT, I ain't bringing no knife to a gunfight. The world is getting nastier and nastier every day and I want my gun w/ me at all times. I have plenny more to say on the subject but once in awhile, LOL, I bite my tongue I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all.
  8. How many states have done great in the last 8 years? Need we mention Mass and the "not in my backyard" environmental blocks? And you know that Bush alone was the guy that gave the "buy" order? And that includes ALL states. Like every other Gov on both sides. Not possible to GET relected since FL has term limits. And got any cites for his Devious plans announcement? Back up your claims, or just quit "copy 'n' paste" crap. Here's one Look it up yourself. Plenny documentation out there. He's a crook just like his brother , father and grandfather. Deny deny deny all you want. Take off those rose colored glasses one day sonhttp://www.democraticunderground.com/top10/02/52.html And here is another and I can go on and on and onhttp://www.oldamericancentury.org/jeb_bush.htm I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all.
  9. Ya mean THIS GUY>Bushwhacked-Floridians are worse off than we were four years ago. Thanks to Jeb Bush's voodoo economics, smoke-and-mirrors education reforms, environmental poison pills and right-wing pandering, the state is in shambles. Florida needs regime change. Here are 24 reasons to vote the governor out of office on Nov. 5. 1. Jeb has turned the $3 billion surplus he inherited from Lawton Chiles into a deficit of between $1.4 billion and $4 billion. 2. The governor has engineered multibillion-dollar tax giveaways for corporations and the wealthiest Floridians. 3. Florida's pension fund lost $355 million on its Enron investments, buying shares in the company when everyone was selling. 4. The average wage in Florida has dropped to just 87 percent of the national norm. 5. Florida is one of only 12 states in which median household income declined in 2001. 6. The governor promised to eliminate the backlog of 11,000 seniors on the waiting list for services through the Department of Elder Affairs. Today, the list has swelled to over 14,000. 7. Health insurance costs are spiraling out-of-control. 8. Jeb's prescription drug plan covers only 68,000 seniors, barely 2.5 percent of the state's older population. 9. In spite of Bushian buzzwords about improving education (FCAT, A+ Plan, vouchers and charter schools), Florida's high-school graduation rate has slipped from 44th to the worst in America. 10. SAT scores have dropped from 40th to 47th; ACT scores, from 35th to 38th. 11. Pre-Jeb, Florida was 29th nationally in spending per pupil; in 2001, it fell to 40th. 12. The governor's alleged $3 billion increase in education funding is a figment of his imagination. Factor in inflation and student growth, and the money allocated per student has risen less than one-quarter of one percent. 13. Class size in Florida schools, among the worst in the nation, dropped from 42nd in 1998 to 44th in 2001. 14. Research cited by the U.S. Department of Education concludes that reducing class size to below 20 students leads to higher achievement, but the governor says he has "devious plans" to flout the constitutional amendment reducing class size if it passes Nov. 5 and he is re-elected. 15. Florida's teacher salaries have dropped from 28th to 31st in the nation. 16. A national study of higher education gave Florida a D- because of relatively high college costs and a D+ because comparatively few state residents go to college. 17. The governor has grabbed the power to appoint everyone on the state's 26 judicial nominating commissions, so he can stack the courts with right-wing judges opposed to abortion and likely to push a conservative agenda. 18. Candidate Bush promised to fix Florida's foster-care system in six months; Gov. Bush let the Department of Children & Families become a national scandal. 19. On the environment, Jeb talks the conservation talk, but doesn't walk the walk. In public, he says the right things; behind the scenes, he pushes developers' agendas. 20. The governor has appointed anti-environmentalists to water management districts, the Environmental Regulatory Commission and judgeships. 21. Ignoring the objections of more than 100 environmental and citizens' groups, Jeb signed a law which funds the state's portion of Everglades restoration, but includes a "poison pill" that restricts Floridians' ability to challenge developers who submit anti-environmental permit requests. 22. Violent crime in the state increased at six times the national average from 2001 to 2002. 23. For the first time since 1996, overall crime incidence in Florida increased. 24. The governor claims his 10-20-Life law has led to a decrease in gun crime, but the firearm crime rate was on the decline before 10-20-Life and actually increased in 2001 -- for the first time since 1997. In 1998, candidate Jeb asked you to give him four years, so he could create a better Florida. Many of you kept your end of the bargain; he didn't. "Fool me once; shame on you. Fool me twice; shame on me." -- the truth of the adage should not be lost on voters. I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all.

  12. "What they found is that, even several hours after the BAC had returned to normal the pilots' capacity to deal with even normal emergency procedures (those that are trained for and practiced regularly) was greatly reduced, even by as much as 90% 24 hours later."_____________________________________________I highly doubt those figures. Who was doing the study.? MADD mothers? Jeesh. Gimme a break I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all.
  13. Anyone else notice how suspicious places are when you pay with cash nodays? They ALWAYS closely examine any bill over a $20, and they look at you like something is wrong when you pay with a $50 or higher bill. Also, anyone find it wrong that paying with cash for a plane ticket will cause you to be labeled as a possible terrorist? Hell, I had to change a reservation last year. Flew to Fl. No problemo. I always get the extra special treatment A couple days later went into MCO and payed cash for the retern ticket (reserved the day before) AND WAS ON THE FUCKIN NO FLY LIST. Fuckin assholes I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all.
  14. Don't forget no bank accts. But soon they'll be doing away w/ cash so.... WE ARE FUCKED. Thank god or whomever I'll be dead by then. Hopefully I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all.
  15. "The REAL problem is people like George Bush and MANY others that see themselves as VERY differen't from the "peasants." >Fixed it for ya. Haven't figured out how to drawn the lines thru the letters yet. And did I mention Clinton got a blowjob I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all.
  16. I lived down there late 70's early 80's. Had the pleasure of having the fuck beat outta me by NOPD and spent 30 days in their fine jail. (no phone calls, no lawyer, no arraignment, no nothing. Pled to a misdemeanor just to get out. Court in the middle of the nite on the 30th day. FBI came in and started a big stink after NOPD shot someone to death w/ no cause shortly after. They'll walk. Watch. Cops take care of their own I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all.
  17. If you are doing something wrong it is for your own good that we catch and punish you. If you are not doing something wrong....what the fuck is wrong with you? Depends on your definition of wrong? I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all.
  18. well. hopefully his greed will cause a ken lay attack I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all.
  19. Not sure what happened that day BUT, the pics I've seen show no wing imprints on the wall. Did the wings just fold backwards and go into the neat little hole w/ the fusilage? I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all.
  20. Exactly my point. Our presence there invites violence. Yes, and the presence of provocatively dressed women invites rape. Lousy analogy I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all.
  21. OK, but without proof to the contrary we didn't KNOW until after the invasion. Not to turn this into a debate about WMD's but the fact is that people supported it, now they bitch about it. The shine has worn off the new toy. To compare to WWII we didn't know the extent of the Genocide until we were in Germany. Sometimes mths later. Regardless of the reason(s) we are there, if you take into account that we've been militarily bumbling around in Iraq, in one form or another, since 1991 with nothing to show for it, its small wonder that people have "Irag Fatigue". As far as this guy's situation goes, I felt the same way when discharged in 1969. If a recall notice had arrived in my mailbox inviting me back to Viet Nam I wouldn't have gone, consequences be damned! I was not about to go back over there and serve another tour in what was just simply Viet Nam's civil war, similar to the Iraq mess today. Why should he sacrifice his life for something that really has nothing to do with U.S. except for a private feud between the Bush family and Saddam? Don't forget all that black gold I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all.
