We learn a lot f things about Portugal. I know that the country used to be called "Portuguy" but changed its name in 1976 after a military coup caused equal rights for women. I also learned that "Lesbians" were so named because they came from Lesban, the capitol of Portugal, and "Lesbians" are what the women from Lesban are called. Candide (by Voltaire) reflects a great earthquake that happened there, interspersed with tales of syphilis. I also know that Lesban's main airport is called Farto Airport - so named from the smell of the sulphur springs that run by it lending the persistent smell of flatulence in the area. I once did a paper about the origins of the city of Porto - it was so named when the Spanish occupied the area to set up a strategic strongpoint on the coast in about 850 A.D. "Porto" means "to carry." The city was originally called "Porto los Asnos Estupido," which translates into "I Carry the Sorry Asses" after the Leonese found them to be worthless as slaves, though great warriors when given wine, hence the start of the wine industry from up the river from Porto. All of this was stuff I learned in school - there was even an Iberian Studies major at my college, but I was only interested in it because this gal Karine was super hot! edited to add: I almost forgot! The Portuguese Man O' War is one bad ass jellyfish. Oh goddamnit. To freakin funny. So much for freedom of speech.... It uh, sounds like the DoD agrees with you, hence the purging... As for what the military and CIA have been doing with their letters, yes it's backhanded, and congress should tell them to knock it off. In the meantime, complain to the financial institutions, they don't have to cooperate with requests from CIA or the pentagon. Yeah fuckin right. I cancelled AOL awhile back. BOA kept letting them charge my credit card. I cancelled the card and got a new one w/ no charges authorized w/o my EXPRESS WRITTEN CONSENT. Guess what? Next mth. Another charge from AOL. I called the bank. Sorry sir. We don't know how they got that info(the new credi card #). All them bastards are in cahoots. You have to do like an old hippie buddy of mine. He said "Com'n in. But if I have to listen to you then I get equal time" He sat quiely til his turn. Then he launched into sex, drugs and rock and roll. Lit a joint and his ole lady came out topless shakin her tits. NEVER SAW THEM AGAIN I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all. -
Close but not right. I hope that if Bush is found not guilty of the crime of lying to lead us to war then you will quit saying he did. I still claim Billy lied under oath since he DID lie under oath and admitted to it. If Bush goes to trial about Iraq and gets accuited, you could still claim he had a DUI since he actually did. Only prob. is Bush/Cheney won't take an oath. Excecutive privilege don't ya know? Can't reveal any STATE secrets don't ya know (unless it benifits him/them)? Gotta keep you safe, don't ya know? It's all for your own good young man. I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all.

How old are you? You just figuring this out? I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all. -
This is the answer... but they seem too lazy to decide on any policy. That's because the Congress has no authority in determining US policy. Write your Congressman 'till you have carpal tunnel, they do not have authority to determine when/how/why troops are deployed. Of course, Congress could cut off funding. But I can guarantee that as a soldier now, and as soon as I was out of the Army, I would ensure that people were constantly reminded and never forget those who turned their backs on the troops while deployed in a combat zone. It amounts to cowardice in the wosrt possible way. Nobodys saying harm the troops (cept your fearless leader). Bring em home and let the fuckers fight it out themselves like we should have to start w/. Where is osama by the way? Who here thinks Congress ACTUALLY believed the Bush Lies?
akarunway replied to lawrocket's topic in Speakers Corner
Personally I think if they did believe it they weren't doing their jobs. Which is a joke anyway. They were more interested in figuring out a way to get another pay increase and a one day work week at the sheeples expense. Get rid of the whole lot and start over. Do I have a solution? Nope. Status quo will carry on I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all. -

Legally drunk and actually drunk are two different things. The legal limit in Florida is .08, in some states it is .10. It is an arbitrary standard. .08 is basically one drink. You need to wait for one hour for each "drink" to leave your system. If you drink 4 beers in 4 hours, over the limit. I would say that very, very few people actually leave a bar that are not legally drunk using the .08 limit. I beg to differ. And I've been to MADD mothers saftey classes crammed down my throat on more than one occasion If you consume one NORMAL drink per hr. YOU AINT impaired. (unless maybe a puss) Your liver processes one oz. per hr. And if you eat even better. >http://www.cocktailtimes.com/awareness/ I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all.

The sub hit the boat on the bow though. That's what I don't understand. Our subs are gigantic sensors, they'll hear a whale fart 10 miles away, but they can determine the proximity of a boat 1000 times its size sloshing through the water? Being a sub-driver has got to be hard, no eyes, only instruments, and you're following the orders based on the perceptions of someone else's calculations. It just a huge bummer here. The Navy hasn't been having a very good run these past few years, planes colliding, Chinese subs popping up around them, fishing boats, now this? Anyway, I'm glad that no one was hurt. I also hope that they don't find some gaping hole in the safety procedures as they review these incidents. Who's bow are we talking here? >"The bow of the submarine was traveling submerged when it hit the stern of the supertanker". ______________Like I said before it sounds like there were trying to slip in coming from behind and underneath using the supertanker and its noise for cover. And yes I was in the NAVY. Not for long tho. I got smart QUICK I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all.
