Well, this one time at band camp.... Ganja

A friend of my wife lost her husband on a racketball court today. Dropped dead of a heart attack. Should everyone with kids stop playing racketball too? You have to live your life to the fullest while you have it in front of you. I was always taught as a child, If it's your time, it's your time. You reckon my mom, who taught me that, will remember it when I tell her I'm gonna start base jumping? Ganja

Hmmm, at 1.5 million, thats only about $16,666.66 if we split it 90 ways. I think that leaves us about 850 square feet each for a small apartment, or well hell of an open bunkhouse style facility... Ganja

Rendezvous, Awsome timing for this post. I have 0 BASE jumps to date, but just ordered my first BASE rig and intend to make my first S at Bridge Day, unless my gear gets hear quicker . I am married to a whuffo, and have 2 wonderful boys. My wife tolerates me skydiving every weekend and spending alot of timw away from home with it. Don't get me wrong, I pay for my actions, but she is there every Sunday night when I get home. When I approached her about making some BASE jumps and seeing if it's "my sport" or not, she witout a doubt went ape shit on me. I think as time goes by, she is adjusting to it, in her own way, but at first she did mention that her and the kids would be gone when I got back from Bridge Day. What's the worst thing a woman can do to man? Give him an ultimatum. I bought my Bridge pass the very next day, and within a week ordered base specific gear. Will she be there when I get home? God I hope so. But if she isn't, I blame her, not me. I am who I am. I honestly feel like BASE is calling me, not me just looking for new adrenaline. Maybe I'm wrong, and if I am, I'll live with the consequences the rest of my life. My kids are too young to understand fully the passion I have, but they know they want to be just like dad when they grow up. I love my wife and kids, yet I want to have a life, and live it to the fullest. To some it may be wrong, but to me, it's just plain ol right. Ganja

I wear a hard hat, open face, freefly helmet. ALWAYS on tandem jumps!
-
I only jump Strong, so can't compare. I have been slapped a few times, enough to make me wear a hard helmet on tandems now, but it isn't often. When it has happened, it seems like the large ring of the three ring system/ student harness connection is what whacks me. Ganja

Cool, so I have to have it re-done every three years. Thanks alot for the help. I don't see any sort of expiration date on the thing at all, so I was unsure. Ganja

Does anyone know if, and if, how often a tandem master is supposed to update their FAA Flight Physical? I know you have to get it for the rating, but I don't see any expiration date anywhere or anything. I've never heard anyone around the DZ talk about getting it renewed or anything.... What gives? Cajones, Thanks for mentioning on the site. I was sort of holding out until it actually happened, you know how things have gone in the past with this deal. I try not to be negative, but need to see the posititive with my own eyes anymore.... Ganja -

I'd miss the Rodriguez Brothers's Cinco de Mayo boogie for some kick ass baloon jumps!!!! Scott Weed aka Ganja Rodriguez -
My first thought was "heck no". But after thinking about it a little, I've re-considered. !st off the passenger would have to be an experienced jumper who was aware of the added risk factors, not just a tandem student thinkit would be cool. And I would have to know the freeflyer and his abilities very well, I know a couple of guys that I would trust enough to fly under like me that, but it wouldn't be just anyone. Just my .02

Being the self proclaimed world'd fattest skydiver, I would reccomend you look at a lot of issues. I weighed 285 when I went through AFF, and I weigh 285 now, 1300+ jumps and a TI rating later. I know that every time I leave the airplane, I am above the maximum allowable weight of my rig. It is I risk I am aware of, and I soley assume that risk. As far as AFF, I think the key is going to be finding the right jumpmasters to talk to. I had a military main side jumpmaster that had tons of experience, and the know how to get my ass out of trouble while tumbling through the sky. I also had to be dedicated enough to buy a custom jumpsuit before I could go on to level 4. I love this sport, and feel that I am a pretty decent RW skydiver. Fall rate is still an issue at times, but most of the people I jump with know what to expect and compensate for it. Get used to being called "Base" and taking some criticism. Most will tell you to lose weight, but that is easy for the 150 lbrs to say. I'd agree, losing weight is the best option, but don't give up just because of weight.

jumping with tandems question
pullhigh replied to misterhand's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
When it comes to you and your life, If your gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough. When someone is strapped to my chest, there life depends on my skills, my equipment, my knowledge, my decsions. That person is someones, son, daughter, mother, father... That person is totally trusting their life to me, a complete stranger. Sorry, I guess maybe it is a bigger deal to me than it is to you.... -
Getting kicked in the face during a Tandem opening.
pullhigh replied to Deuce's topic in Photography and Video
Pendejo, if we ever find a DZ that will let us jump toghether again, I'll be dure to tell the passengers not to bend their legs back like that. You have a helmet on, what could go wrong? Your Pal Ganja -
jumping with tandems question
pullhigh replied to misterhand's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
No offense, but maybe the name "Nutz" fits.... I do not know you or your abaility, but I am very conservative about who I allow to lurk my tandem jumps. I already have 4 extra limbs for shit to wrap around, flaps open, a pilot chute in tow, and someone strapped to my chest that may or may not be trying to kill me..... I like the odds better without another "Cowboy" in the sky just hoping to touch the person strapped to my chest. -
