Welcome to a new world! Semper Fi & Blue Sky! I'm a Pschydiver! Majdi E.

Hello everyone! It's been ages since I've posted anything on dz.com. It's good to see some the same old names...and good to see more new ones! It's been about 1.5 years since I've jumped last due to my many deployments (why did I ever admit to being a fluent Arabic speaker)! Anyway, just wanted to let everyone know I was thinking about you...Now get off the computer & go skydive!...do a jump for me this wkend! Semper Fi & Blue Sky, Majdi E. I'm a Pschydiver! Majdi E.

Hello everyone! I'm getting temp. assigned to Goodfellow AFB (San Angelo, TX)...yes, I'm still in the Marine Corps :-) Anyway, just curious..what's the closest DZ to the area? Thanks for your help. Majdi E. I'm a Pschydiver! Majdi E.
-
Congrats! Now I can't wait to come back from my current deployment & skydive again (been an entire year)! Semper Fi & Blue Sky, Majdi El-Ahwal "...And once you have tasted flight, you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been, and there you long to return..." - Leonardo da Vinci

Present and accounted for! USMC Too bad I've been deployed since Nov & haven't jumped since! I think a skydiving road trip along the eastern sea board is in order when I return next month. I'm a Pschydiver! Majdi E.

I love my wings container. As comfortable as my old Mirage, but more reasonably priced. Pay extra for the quilted back padding, it's worth it. Maj I'm a Pschydiver! Majdi E.

Lost in the Gulf and no skydiving...SEND pictures!
MiataDRM replied to MiataDRM's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
My favorite Fergs in the entire world! Unfortunately, I'm no longer in Bahrain (u don't know how much I wish I was). I'm currently in Yemen. Speaking of which, I'm in a venting mood. Well...let me tell you about my bloody day! I went out to help the British forces train the yemeni forces...all went well. Dropped the blocks off (how's my brit. speak?)....and started driving back to the Embassy. On the way, I saw an amazing thing...crystal blue sky...the city w/ a minaret/mosque towering over all other buildings w/ beautiful mountain range in the background. I stopped & got out of my car to take a picture...make a long story short, I was detained for better part of 2 hours while they searched my car, and took my new camera (Nikon D-100) for examination! I called someone w/ a little clout w/in the local gov't & I was allowed to leave w/in 5 minutes...with my camera & passport of course! By the way, they didn't care about the fact that I had a pistol on my side during the entire detention! What really burns me is that when they were appologizing to me, they said what they did was was for my own good....because there was someone behind me, getting ready to kidnap me (what a load of crap...NO ONE was on the f#@$ing road)! GRRRRRRRRRRRRR...I am soooo pissed right now! It made me realize why my parents packed us up & left the bloody middle east for the U.S....Anyway, just wanted to say hi & vent a little. Hope your week is going well & thanks for listening. I'll find out by Wed if I'll be able to fly out to the UAE...as of now, it's not looking good. On a lighter note, the only positive thing that came of this...one of the military officers had jump wings on his uniform...his face brightened up when he saw my USPA magazine in the car & we started chatting like we were old buddies (never mind the rest who were pricks). Lost in the Gulf and no skydiving...SEND pictures!
MiataDRM replied to MiataDRM's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I just wanted to thank everyone for their support & kind words....and the beautiful pictures! I was so depressed yesterday that I went out and bought the Nikon D100 to work on taking still photos when I get back in the air (after I become current again)...the great thing about Nikon is that I can still use my lenses (D type) from my old Nikon instead of re-building my collection! Depending on what's going on the world, I will definitely try to take a few days of leave & come out for the boogie in the UAE...I hope to meet you all & thank you in person. As for the Fergs, I hope we're able to meet while visiting Bahrain. I sent you my contact info...hope you get it in time. Semper Fi & Blue Ones! Majdi -
Lost in the Gulf and no skydiving...SEND pictures!
MiataDRM replied to MiataDRM's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hello everyone! I'm sorry I've been a stranger, but I've been away on a "business" trip to the sunny Gulf in the middle east. All jokes aside, I love it hear, but Bahrain does not have a DZ! So, I need a favor from a few of you fellow dz.commers! If I may beg of you...could you puhleeeeeaaaaaze send me a few skydiving pics? It's been 3 months since I've last jumped & it looks like it will be at least another 4-10 months before my current deployment is over! Freeflying would be perfect, but right now I'll settle for CRW-dog photos...hell I'll settle for a photo of the gravel pit! my email is maj_di_2000@yahoo.com Thanks in advanced...Semper Fi, blue sky & safe highs (altitude smart ass)! I'm a Pschydiver! Majdi E. -
Thanks for everyones reply! Well, I had the best of both worlds. I met the gang at Raeford and got to jump and party w/ them on Sat. On Sun, I played/sobered up @ Raeford some more....then took off in a big convoy to the Skydiving Place for a few jumps late in the afternoon. Both places were fun and very welcoming. It was great to finally meet Chuck Blue and a few other dz.commers. All in all...I got 8 jumps (jumped out of a Super Otter, Casa, cessna & King Air in 1 wkend), made new friends and had a blast! Betsy (bbarnhouse)...how in depth of a report are you looking for? I'm a Pschydiver! Majdi E.
-
I usually average btwn 2-4 jumps in a wkend...depends on money and what's going on. I'm used to jumping at Orange (VA), and just want to find a fun place to place. Any ideas? Maj
-
I'm posting this kind of late, but.... I'm new in NC (again), and looking for a new home DZ. I'm driving out tomorrow to jump & I need some feedback. Both, Raeford & CSS are relatively the same distance from me (3 hrs )...which one is more fun & freefly friendly? Blue stuff & thing! I'm a Pschydiver! Majdi E.

Mike Ortiz and $14.50 jumps at Skydive Orange July 5 - 7
MiataDRM replied to Zilla's topic in The Bonfire
Just got back from Orange...been there for 3 days & I just needed to recharge my battery over night before heading back out there again in the morning. I had the privilege of jumping w/ Mike Ortiz...great guy, very pesonable and down to earth...w/ a wealth of skydiving knowledge. If you get a chance to make it out to Orange...it will be worthwhile. I hope everyone had a fun & safe 4th of Jul. I'm a Pschydiver! Majdi E. -
Sorry, not to change the subject...FIRST...Jeff (JJohnson)...I just wanted to congratulate you on 12 years of sobriety. I know it's a huge accomplishment. As for religion...while I was brought up as a muslim & studied many religions...I still claim islam on documents...but in reality I'm not very religious neither do I believe in any particular religion. I just know to treat other people in a decent manner, follow the laws of the land (except for speed limits) & believe that something bigger than me is out there. Just my 2 cents Happy Independence day & Semper Fidelis, Majdi
-
For EVERYONE in the USA, traveling abroad or deployed in harms way...happy indenpendence day. Be safe Dave...I'm off to Orange! Semper Fidelis, Majdi
-
You are asking the wrong group of people..just take the money & deposit it at your home DZ! I do like the idea of going on a get-away vacation...having said that, I took the money I was going to spend on airlines & hotels & spent it at SD Orange!....go figure :-) Put my vote down for gear! Okay, Okay...what do you want us to tell you? I'm a Pschydiver! Majdi E.

Cheap Super Otter Jumps...I'm going to be sooo broke after this wk....and remember...the more you spend, the more you SAVE!!!!! I'll be there after an appointment I have in Manassas tomorrow. I'm a Pschydiver! Majdi E.

Yep...I don't think any of the girls at Cross Keys will be jumping w/ body jewelery after that sight! I'm a Pschydiver! Majdi E.

Sorry, I should have better clarified my comment on constitutional rights. I was not so much refering to her specific case, but rather the comment in the article where it quotes the Asst. Gen. attorney saying that law-enforcement concerns after Sept. 11 should override ones contention that their constitutional rights are being violated. As for the veil, I think she would be able to keep on her veil that covers her hair, but she needs to remove the facial veil that's hiding the face for the photo...most states don't have a problem with the hair being covered...either way, she can always have another female take the pic. And yes, driving is a privilege. By the way, guys...please don't feel the need to IM me appoligizing for things posted or worrying about flame wars. I'm not easily offended...I enjoy hearing what people think, I just try to educate & learn something myself...and like most people in the world I'm not that religious...Either way, being in the Marine Corps & spending my wkends @ the DZ at Orange...I can't have thin skin, they would eat me alive Blue Sky & Semper Fi, Majdi

Ok...alright...call me a sensitive Arab, but I have to reply to this! First off, no...Islam does not prohibit women from driving. "Most" of the backass ward rules that are attributed to Islam are more or less local cultural influences...whether it's driving laws in Saudi Arabia, voting right or sterilization in N. Africa! As for the woman refusing to remove her facial veil....I think it's going overboard. However, keep in mind...that she's been told that since her formative years that's what she has to do. However, per the letter of the Koran, women only have to keep their hair veiled. The women who only show their eyes...that's just an added cultural influence they are abiding to. Originally being born & raised outside the US (I've been here since '86)...nothing scares me more that hearing some say we have to give up some of our constitutional rights for security...just something to chew on! I'm a Pschydiver! Majdi E.

Rhino...at ease Marine! I've kept myself from flaming anyone for the past year...but you are taking me over the edge! Back in March, you talked smack to Aggiedave about being too politically correct & how he didn't have a backbone & didn't know anything about leadership...meanwhile, you are getting defensive for someone being concerned about someone elses safety...and you're calling it bad form! No one wishes harm on anyone....when someone says...maybe u shouldn't be jumping a heavily loaded crossfire2...they are looking out for u...when they say someone is going to femur in...they're just out of things to say at that point....because that stubborn individual is not listening. In another post, you are arguing w/ Crossfire test pilots & national level swoop competitors about diging out of a corner using rear risers! I'm a baby to the sport w/ 105 jumps & I know not to try digging out w/ rear risers! When you make statements like that, you are potentially endangering people at my level of skill! Going back to Aggiedave...I think he will do just fine as a future Officer of Marines...as a CURRENT Marine w/ almost 9 yrs...I would neither want you in a fighting hole next to me...much less in my COMPANY; you're just too much of a loose cannon! I just hope you are never injured...look around and listen to others; we all have much to learn about this sport & life in general...I learned a long time ago that having an ego does nothing but hurt the individual. At some point, we all grow up & realize there are times to shut up, listen to others and learn...That's just my 2 cents! Blue Sky & SEMPER FI! Majdi

Emailed Sunrise about getting a bigger D bag
MiataDRM replied to PhillyKev's topic in Gear and Rigging
I love dealing w/ Heather and others at sunrise rigging...they are very knowledgeable, patient and wil take time out to answer your questions and bring up other valid points. They have a way to make me feel as if I was the only customer they care about....that service goes a long way...even after you buy their product. I'm a Pschydiver! Majdi E. -
Have you looked at the wings container by sunriserigging (www.para-service.com)? They are wonderful containers. Very freefly friendly, comfortable w/ out the hefty price tag. Just my 2 cents. I almost ordered a Mirage (& still love their product), but I ended up w/ a wings and have no regrets...and I had about 700 extra dollars (which went to the DZ account anyway!). Then again, if you have the extra money for the mirage...by all means, it's a solid container. I know people that freefly javelins w/ no problems...but I've also seen 2 people w/ a premature deployment during a sit. Just my 2 cents...keep in mind I'm still a baby to the sport. I'm a Pschydiver! Majdi E.
