I don't see that difference, because I doubt he was buying it himself. They were perscription drugs, after all - and most people who abuse perscription drugs DO have perscriptions for them. He wasn't buying them from the drugstore. He was buying them on the street through his maid. never pull low......unless you are

First Cutaway OR Why I hate Whuffos! (Long)
SkydiverRick replied to ChasingBlueSky's topic in The Bonfire
I had a cut-away on a beach jump in Sebastion a few years ago. My freebag landed on A1A and my main landed on a driveway a couple hundred yards west. Before I could get to it someone driving by stopped and grabbed my freebag. There was a state trooper standing by my main talking to the home owners. When I tried to pick it up off of the asphalt the trooper ordered me to leave it alone. I tried to explain to him that it was mine. He wanted ID ,which I did not have with me. He said that I could not have it without ID. I asked the trooper "how many altimeter wearing criminals argue with cops in an effort to steal things?" He finally had me put in his trunk and I followed him to the bar and someone else produced some ID and he returned it to me. I also got lucky with the freebag, it was at the bar waiting on me. I guess not all whuffos are bad. never pull low......unless you are -

First Cutaway OR Why I hate Whuffo's! (Long)
SkydiverRick replied to ChasingBlueSky's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
yep, this guy took it and was quite proud of it. In fact, he wanted me to pay him "several hundred dollars" to get it back. WHAT???? Are you serious? That's not even your farm, and thats MY canopy. You trespassed to steal? His defense was he wanted to make sure there wasn't a body attached to it and that someone paid him $250 to get one back last year. I would have explained to him the high cost of dental repair. never pull low......unless you are -
As usual some folks, myself included, are just trying to put a good spin on this, but the reality is that it sucks pretty hard. My entire life just took a pretty hard turn. Sucks is an understatement. That's a long time to work for one company. Things seem bleak right now but don't let it beat you. My parents always told me "when life hands you lemons, make lemonade. Easier said than done, I know. Good luck. never pull low......unless you are

Super new and have a HARD opening question
SkydiverRick replied to saltlakedrop's topic in Gear and Rigging
There is no such thing as a dumb question. A good time to bring this up would have been at the debrief. It would be better to be a big baby then to be a dead baby. Always ask questions and keep asking until you understand the answer. never pull low......unless you are -
This type of thing isn't taught in the first jump course. I think that coaches should fill in the cracks and cover this type of information. What seems like common sense to experienced jumpers may never even enter a newbies mind. never pull low......unless you are

If you work for someone for 20 years and haven't been promoted past cashier, you aren't worth $20/hr And that means that you are against cost of living increases? So if You stay in the same position for a number of years, you shouldn't get a raise? Yes, I believe in cost of living raises. I don't believe that would account for a cashier making $20/hr though. never pull low......unless you are

I also love to hear the splash and the ensuing screams late at night. I used to leave the seat up at night when my (ex)wife and I were fighting. I loved that splash sound too. You can stretch saran wrap across the bowl for additional fun. never pull low......unless you are

Yes, he is worth $20 an hour to the company...After 15 years of service he has saved COUNTLESS hours of labor that would have been spent training other replacement employees to do his same job, as well as COUNTLESS hours of hiring processes, that would have been spent getting someone else hired. He also is a trainer for new employees, and is very valuable because he has done just about every position besides managing. So he is a versatile trainer, and is also able to fill in for any employee who is unable to work their own shift due to illness, etc. Which, by the way, he does cover for other employees whenever he can. In fact, he's been covering some girl's overnight shift, as well as his own day shift, for the past three weeks. I agree that it's not just the time put into a job that counts, but the quality. And my brother gives 100% effort, and the quality of his work is 100%. I do repeat myself to you and skydiverrick...he damn sure does deserve the wage he gets! I never said that your brother doesn't deserve $20/hr. I just don't think that anyone deserves it for hanging around for 20 years. It seems that your brother has more duties than that of a cashier. More responsibility should be rewarded. The amount of time on the job is not reason enough to get paid more. never pull low......unless you are

BULLSHIT. - Jim I've got to agree with you Jim. If a person accepts a job at any pay level they should give 100%. If the pay scale is too low get a better paying job. The value should be placed on the job performed, not on how long that you do it. Should we pay cashiers more than doctors just because they have more time in? never pull low......unless you are

Would you let a non jumper pack your reserve??
SkydiverRick replied to callmewhuffo's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
How many jumps do you require your rigger to have? Do they have to be current? Can they pack your square reserve if they only have 5000 jumps on a round, but none on a square? What if they never had a cut-away, are they qualified to pack reserves or just mains? never pull low......unless you are -

I've heard women bitch about putting the seat down, but they leave the lid up. This goes against the "it looks better argument". If they can't put the lid down, they shouldn't complain to us about the seat. I always put the seat and lid down when I'm a guest at someones home. I have a private bath at my home so I leave it anyway that I want. never pull low......unless you are

I learned that way (along with thousands of others) at South Florida Parachutes Inc. in Indiantown, Florida. The first jump was a hop and pop from 3200'. In 20 or more years of operation they only had 1 student fatality. The fatality was a gear problem by the way, not training. never pull low......unless you are
