  1. I think a paraphrasing in the article of the closing arguments says it best: If 52% of the population voted that walking was illegal and that you had to hop everywhere, I don't think you'd be defending it as a victory of democracy.

    iPAD

After using one, I stand by my original assessment.
  3. This relates back to a point that was raised earlier, tracking on tracking dives is not tracking like you should be after break-off. Most tracking dives (when I'm not leading) I'm usually flying in a body position that more closely resembles a head down jump than it does tracking as I would to get away from others at break-off.
  4. So twist it the other way... Extremists recruit people under the notion that the west has declared war on Islam as a whole. We stand to benefit in the long run by spreading the word with specific examples like this mosque about how that notion is nonsense. Maybe the hell-bent extremists around today will think of it as a victory in their battle with the west, but we were planning on killing them anyway, so who cares?
  5. And this is something that tracking dive organizers can really help out with too. I have to admit a few years back I was guilty of, "the more the merrier" syndrome when leading tracking dives, but now if there's any question about skill I'll suggest breaking up into two groups and finding a second leader. I've found that groups of four or five work pretty well, and that's as many as usually end up nice and close on unlimited-way tracking dives anyway. Better to have the same fun without the stress of worrying about all the other land-mines scattered everywhere.
  6. I don't have a facebook account that I'm aware of. I've received e-mails, though, that people have commented on photos of me in facebook. I'm not entirely sure how that works but I couldn't be bothered to create an account to find out.
  7. My comment earlier in the thread was to suggest that there may have been a slap stick comedy moment when it was realized that the government was using the same docks to receive smuggled nuclear weapons material as the citizens were using to receive bacon and cigarettes. Cue I Love Lucy theme song.
  8. Im doing te video on this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMxeASR-R7o It was over 3yrs ago so dont comment on my madskillz Speaking of videos from over three years ago and tubes exploding. Witness... the tube that wouldn't die (the second sequence is a tube that blows up right out the door but is reassembled after much funneling later in the video.)
  9. "But you're using that same tactic to try to feel superior to me, too!"
  10. There's the "magic carpet" which is basically a tube only wider (two or three people abreast), and you don't close it into a circle. Success rate on these, regardless of success criteria chosen, is usually rather low. There's also a "cube" (I've heard it called other things) which is like a horny gorilla in that two people are leg-locked but then the other two are head down and everyone holds the calves of the people next to them. This is actually a really stable formation if the head down folks sorta know what they're doing.
  11. That makes me a saaaaaaaad panda. You must have had it on backwards.
  12. This is generally expected of participants from the organizers of large-ish freefly jumps, and I recommend anyone who freeflies with others to get in the habit of doing it sooner rather than later. This is more a matter of "look where you're going as you leave the center" than "barrel roll during break off" though.
  13. Why don't you learn to spot, stop making zoo dives, and wave off before you pull? Seriously, explaining how you've worked a barrel roll into the end of your break off routine is like saying you've mastered stabbing out of the corner on a low turn. If you find yourself in a situation with a less than ideal break-off (say... a hybrid funneling right at break-off) a brief glance over your shoulder as you track away from the center of mass is a lot more useful than back flying or barrel rolling. If everyone is tracking away from the center and looking around, everyone can make small adjustments to ensure separation from the one or two people nearest them. Regardless of whether you're talking about the middle or end of your track, if you barrel roll and see someone what's your plan? Continue tracking while watching them over your shoulder? That's what we're suggesting anyway. Continue tracking and assume they're not above you anymore? Well then why the hell did you look in the first place? Stop tracking and just not pull? How long are you going to keep that up?
  14. Well of course you're going to hype the container, you're sucking up. It's all about the sponsorship to you and has nothing to do with the fantastic products they make. I'll bet you don't even care about the comfortable fit that you'll only find on a Mirage or the wide range of main deployment options to fit your discipline and personal preference.
  15. From a link in another thread: Assange is a "useful idiot" with an agenda but he hasn't done anything illegal so all the scolding he's getting is going to fall on deaf ears. As I've said before, there will always be unscrupulous media outlets. Manning, while earlier this year could have been argued to be a conscientious whistleblower regarding what he felt was an incident that didn't receive enough attention, has now exposed himself as someone who does things out of emotion and just doesn't think. I'm sorry, but "Whistle-blowing" is not a valid defense for an encyclopedic leak like this.
  16. Sounds like a late night mix up at the docks. Also... what?
  17. Even older. I saw that for the first time in...I wanna say 1994 or 1995 That photo is so old, it was taken back when impressive things impressed people.
  18. Wow, how noble. You must be a Republican. Thx for the typical dishonest editorial of my words. Turnabout is fair play. By the way, if you liked Clinton's (and HW's) fiscal policy so much, and you claim that fiscal policy is what really defines a person's political position, then why did you vote against them three times?
  19. Hypothetical situation... John Doe kills a couple people and witnesses see him jump in a car and get away. Police throw up check points and start a man hunt. John can't get out of the city so he goes to his brother Joe who he looks somewhat similar to, and concocts a plan. Joe gets in the car John was driving and heads to a check point where he's arrested and charged. Check points come down, man hunt is called off. At the trial, the defense plays dumb and rolls over and he's convicted and sentenced to death. Meanwhile, John flees the country. A few months later while on death row, miraculously, the murder weapon surfaces, is traceable to John, has John's fingerprints on it, and no evidence that Joe has ever touched it. And let's say there's also a signed confession by John or some other such evidence. Joe asks for, and is granted, a new trial and is found not guilty.
  20. I'm not spamming anything "Why did you draw on the wall?" "I didn't"
  21. You do realize you're spamming a thread that had gone stale almost two years before you registered, yes?
  22. Don't forget to throw a Hi-Tek Model 8000 in there for good measure.
  23. I'm trying to decide how I'd feel about someone who slaughtered cows in any other capacity than as a profession.
