Rules are not necessarily = safety. There's much less chance of injuries when 1 person lands downwind and 19 into the wind than all 20 downwind. ------------------------------------------------------------ If everyone thought this way, than everyone would choose their own landing direction as they see fit. It would be a free-for-all in the lz. What risk of collision would you calculate that as?

your reserve ride back to the DZ while everyone else completes the 20 (19) way box....CRW

How many miles to your dropzone?
meandean replied to verticalflyer66's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
1/2 a mile....2 doors down from a pizza place -
ok, in your opinion, is it better to set the "loop" to the inside of the risers, or the outside of the risers? By "loop" I mean the section of the control line below the brake setting,
-
I pull enough extra of the closing loop through the last grommet so that I can put in the pin, easily press the loop against the grommet, and extract the pull-up without any resistance at all. I've only seen two others do this, any more? ---------------------------------------------------------- yup, I've been using that method for years.
-
First time i've seen it. ------------------------------------- thats beer!

hey jerm, I've got some pics of your new canopy, & nice video of your landings. If I only knew how to post them.........
-
just a question, not about this event, but....if you had a reserve canopy open that looked like the one in the video, and you had a little more time,(more than a few hundred feet) would you hooknife the zigzag line or unstow your toggles first, to try & clear the mess?
-
I bought a small container of bungees from Home Depot........N.E. region
-
PS: I still do not advocate "attaching" myself to an open (and flying) parachute by any means... ---------------------------------------------------------- not even 3 rings & risers & lines? Oh my... hehe

I don't think I'll mod Kelli's rig. Her reserve works fine and the mod won't improve anything, only makes things worse. ------------------------------------------------------- How does it make things worse?
-
It's what your left with when the pilot jumps out, to do some CRW. (snicker)

When doing CRW you want to be open as fast as possible out the door. --------------------------------------------------------- it depends on where you are in the formation. Besides, I still want a soft opening, even if it is a little fast. Depends on what your comparing it to. (sabre 1s haha)
-
Soft smooth on heading openings are charactersitics that almost everybody wants in every canopy ( with the exception of reserves and CReW canopies) regardless of its intended market pro or beginner. ----------------------------------------------------------- Why wouldn't you want soft smooth on heading openings with a CRW canopy?

Try getting a unit with PCI Express interface. For those who haven't heard of it, the short explanation of PCI Express is that it's a new interface that can go far beyond the speed of current AGP and PCI buses.

dacron lines are thicker. The PD slinks might not be long enough to handle the extra thickness of the lines. I use the PD RESERVE slinks on one of my CRW setups (with dacron lines). The PD RESERVE slinks are about an inch longer than the PD SPORT slinks, allowing more room for the thicker lines. -slasher-

why don't you publish them?

I thought in the U.S. the repack cycle is 120 days, closer to 4 months?

Attaching an Aircrew Knife to cheststrap?

if the "blade is not particularly sharp", then why would you rely on it to save your life? -slasher- -
