  1. ...and go virtual joyriding across the inner solar system. Probably gonna slash the rear air shocks and drag the back bumper across the ionosphere before they finally strip it and leave it derelict in the asteroid belt!
  2. I like the name of the piece ..."Warrior Within". This must be a representation of the little tyke just before he was born. (Well, the scammers artists did say they had been working on it for 9 months ...and that this was their 10th trip to the $ well!)
  3. Anyone who displays that "statue" at any high school full of adolescents and doesn't expect at least a giggle is either a little naive or a lot clueless. The real joke is the $100k spent on it. Also - a work of art "conveys" the message it conveys ...not necessarily the message intended to be conveyed by the artist. ETA - I think this sculpture conveys the message that someone is getting screwed out of a hundred grand.
  4. A bunch more here! "The girl with colitis goes by"
  5. Yes, it would be much more realistic if a pig holding a pinwheel while zip-lining was not able to slow down and speed up at will!
  6. ...and it's always good to know where the bathroom is. I'm assuming, you don't care for their music? No big deal. Chuck I love their music. Always been a big fan of Fogerty and CCR.

  9. I think appreciation for their music is undergoing a sort of ...a ...uh ...hmmm ...what's the word I'm searching for?...what's the word? ...uh .......comeback!

    Cheese :-)

I quite like pecorino as well. However, a few weeks ago during a cookery slot on daytime TV the female presenter mispronounced pecorino with embarrassing results. Full story here: http://www.metro.co.uk/tv/887051-this-mornings-holly-willoughby-left-red-faced-after-naughty-cheese-mix-up More like sheep style!

Pecorino Romano or Parmigiano Reggiano ....mostly the Romano. I grew up eating it like candy. You just caused me to get up and go break off a chunk!
  12. I think the main difference is that the economically stronger EU members will simply offload the "problem" countries. So much for "union". The EU is held together only by documents and decrees ...no kindred spirit among the countries to bind them so there are no qualms about throwing each other under the bus. That will only delay their own economic troubles and the disparity will eventually return Europe to an early 20th Century condition. We, on the other hand, simply print fake money and pass it around to delay the inevitable. We keep accepting the worthless paper and pass it on to others who also accept it. But sooner or later the music will stop and someone (everyone!) will be left holding the bag.

    Goodbye Marie

    Sorry for your loss.
  14. They're going to get austerity whether they "enact" any "measures" or not. What part of there-is-no-money-left do they not understand?
  15. I'm impressed by the car turning on it's own emergency flashers after the blast! ...even more impressed that it still works! (I suppose it could be the turn signal but I don't think it really intends to turn left onto the sidewalk.)
  16. is right! ...but an "expert" wouldn't need that suit!
  17. I call that "ensuring diversity." It wasn't like he was going to win admission on his own merits. Well, I'm not so sure he was as stupid as he made himself out to be. I think he just acted stupid to appeal to Republicans. I've always wondered how the lefties would try to reconcile "Bush, the Cunning Conspirator" with "Bush, the Idiot". It's not GWB that is the dumbass! ....it's US!
  18. So you believe the 14th righted a great wrong? The effective result of the 14th Amendment, Section 2 was to reduce that 3/5 number to ZERO! Freed slaves were still denied their "newly acquired" constitutional right to vote while the federal government looked the other way. But the 14th did proclaim that the number of representatives sent to Congress for a given district would be reduced proportionally ...by the number of disenfranchised citizens to the entire voting population of that district, if any citizens were denied their rights. And of course they were ...unconstitutionally but without any real challenge from the federal govt. Section 2 gave the green light for denying rights to former slaves and, with a wink, implied that there would be no real attempts at enforcement! So these citizens were now counted as "1" rather than "3/5" but now got NO representation in Congress. An argument could be made that no representation is better than having your share of representation (3/5, 1/4, 7/8 or whatever fraction) stolen by those who do not have your best interests in mind. Now the number of representatives from the former slave states were also reduced because they could no longer count their non-voting slaves by any fraction to gain congressional power. The 14th Amend., Section 1 did affirm the rights of emancipated slaves by not permitting States to "...abridge, ...nor deprive, ...nor deny....". But we all know that it took another century for any real attempt at enforcement to begin. Just like it took the first century for the original principles of equality and unalienable rights to begin to be addressed. Also - Amendment 14, Section 5 --- to paraphrase: "the fox gets to watch the henhouse".
  19. Yep. I usually get one of the other flavors when the grocery has them for "buy one, get one" but I'm always disappointed. Originals are the best. ...but even they seem to have changed over the last few years. Probably ruined by the trans-fat police.
  20. NOT what the gun-o-phobes wanted it to mean Interesting article here. From the article: Note that well-regulated" clearly refers to how well the militia functions and how well trained are the militia members. It does not refer at all to the degree to which the government controls the militia or the members of the militia. and: Therefore I conclude that the meaning of the 2nd Amendment is, "A properly functioning Militia is necessary to the security of a free State; therefore the (pre-existing) right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed."
  21. I'm sure you understand that the "3/5 compromise" did not "make a black vote only 3/5ths of a white vote". Slaves still got no vote and white slaveholders effectively got 3/5 additional votes for each slave they owned in the form of congressional representation ....to the detriment of those slaves.
  22. That's probably not it ....I like A.R. ,too. TV for me it's the local Fox News station, some ball games and a lot of the great PBS programming. Antenna only ..no satellite or cable. Sometimes shows like NCIS and Big Bang Theory and that's about it. Radio is a local all sports station, Ramsey once in a great while, local oldies station, and rarely talk radio. NPR gives me a headache.
