  1. It's designed like that. The manual for the Vector 3 is on Relative Workshop's website. Check it out. In the section on packing/closing the main container, it mentions that the grommets will be offset, and tells you the procedure for determining the proper loop length.
  2. Close, but not quite. "The girl, she carries the water now." That is what you said. It should be this instead: "Puella, PORTA aquam nunc." Also, I got a perfect score on the National Latin Exam twice. PM me.
  3. I'm pretty sure she knows WHAT a speed star is. I think she was looking for tips on the actual execution of this skydive. I've only been involved in 1 10-way speed jump (non-competition). It was very fun. I was the 9th to exit. Overall it went smoothly, and we built the point in plenty of time, although one person almost broke the formation when they docked very hard.
  4. Check out this site : http://www.divemaker.com Definitely a lot of good information regarding names of formations, etc.
  5. Wow. I just figured out that I have spent over $20K on this sport already (about 1 1/2 years). I'm including tunnel time in this (which is addicting to me). Also, my first rig was completely new (so almost $6K there). Then, while WAITING for my rig, I was renting gear for close to 100 jumps. I'm also in the process of getting a 2nd rig. Fortunately, I have a very good job, and a lifestyle that permits me to spend a decent percentage of my income on this (no wife, kids, etc). I've definitely taken the expensive route so far, and unfortunately I don't see that changing anytime soon (I need more tunnel time... and more jumps... and those new L&B toys look cool... and...).
  6. I don't think the weather is going to be very conducive to skydiving tomorrow (or Sunday for that matter), unfortunately.
  7. I actually DID buy a new Vector today (well OK, yesterday, but close enough). I did not get the Skyhook. Even though it sounds great, and even my rigger said "You never know, it may save your life one day...", it just seems like it is still too new for something that is attached to my last chance for survival. I would definitely consider it in a couple more problem-free years, though.
  8. 30:12:0 30 minutes of tunnel time. 12 jumps. Never (audibly) muttered the F word.
  9. This is very interesting to me. I'm currently in the process of ordering a new Vector (with a non-skyhook RSL). I'm also a heavier (215+) jumper. Is the Collins' Lanyard now included in ALL Vector 3s with an RSL? If not, why not? My current Vector 3 (non-skyhook RSL) does not have a Collins' Lanyard.
  10. Can't forget Black Sabbath. Sepultura. Soulfly. Black Label Society. Similar (but not quite): Nightwish (fantastic group, buy Oceanborn!). Moonspell. Paradise Lost. Laibach.
  11. $268 ticket for going 35MPH. This was in a school zone, outside of MY OWN god damn high school (VBHS, Milan). I was driving this POS Fifth Avenue that had hardly any paint left on it. The cop obviously didn't care that I was some poor high school kid. I've gotten a lot of tickets since then. One cop recently told me that "a rookie cop would arrest you for this." So I told him that I'm glad I must not be dealing with a rookie cop. Now, whenever I get pulled over, the first thing I say is "Yeah, I know.. I was speeding. I'm an idiot, I have no excuse." One cop recently told me that I was a lucky idiot, and let me go. Oh well. I just bought a C5 Corvette last Thursday. No tickets (yet), but I have been up to 145 on I-95 (and sweating the whole time looking for cops).
  12. And just when does a student CYPRES fire?
  13. I just beat it twice... I think the trick is to look at all the combinations that are occurring 1-2 moves before you lose. Try and avoid those at all costs, and seize the opportunity to give him those same combinations. Also, you should notice that he always plays the same moves given a certain pattern. You can use that to your advantage.
  14. Yeah, it's absolutely amazing that I'm up this early (first time in like 2 years I think). I guess this was meant to be

  16. Awww that sucks! I know how you feel, though. Back in high school, I was taking a friend of mine back to her house, when all of a sudden a cat jumps out in front of my car from a ditch. I hit it directly (going about 30-35) and of course it died. The next morning, my friend went to her bus stop only to find a girl crying, telling the story about how someone had killed her cat, and how much she had loved it. Of course I felt absolutely horrible when I heard that. I have hit a few other animals since then (no pets, fortunately), and I've pretty much trained myself NOT to swerve if a animal runs out in front of my car. I do not want to end up crashing into a ditch, etc. trying not to hit an animal, even though I still feel horrible each time it happens. It's just one of the very unfortunate realities of modern transportation.
  17. Star Trek DS9 (which, in my opinion, is definitely the best out of all the ST series) : "The Visitor" - Capt. Sisko has an accident that initially gives the impression that he has died. It is later found that he is stuck in a state that has him re-appearing around his son (Jake) as time goes by. This is easily the most emotionally-charged episode ever made in any ST series. It still affects me in the same manner ever time I see it. Star Trek TNG : "The Inner Light" - This is the episode where a probe "attacks" Picard and causes him to experience his life as part of an extinct alien race. This is definitely not a normal action-based TNG episode, but instead relies heavily on characterization to become one of the best episodes of ST. Star Trek TOS : Even though this is not my favorite series, I would say that "The City on the Edge of Forever" would be the best episode. This is the episode where Dr. McCoy, in a drug-induced deranged state, goes through a time portal into depression-era US. Kirk has to make a decision that will hurt himself personally, yet allow the timeline to remain intact. I never really got into Voyager or Enterprise. Actually, I've mostly given up on Enterprise entirely. I originally liked the premise of the series, but the writers seem unable to turn that premise into an enjoyable (or even credible) series.

Well, thankfully everything turned out well with my house. I did have flooding in my area, but it didn't quite reach the level of my house. I definitely lucked out, though. My next door neighbor had a tree fall onto his roof, and the flooding DID enter his house. So, it certainly could have been worse. A tree did knock down my power and phone lines in my back yard, so I don't know how long I'll be without power. I think I'm going to head to Orlando for a few days. I'm sure I redefine "stink" right now, so taking a shower would be awesome! Ivan definitely needs to stay away, though.

I'm currently sitting at a radio station building in Vero. They're saying that this area is going to get hit the hardest by wind, and that the eye is never going to go directly over us, so we just get the outer edge of it for the duration (so, no break at all). It's gotten MUCH more intense over the last hour. The power's been out since like 8am this morning. They have a good generator here, so we still have limited power. I'm sorta amazed that the internet is still working. Really, the only thing I'm concerned about are my little kitty cats, who are at my house a few miles away. I wish this thing would HURRY up so at least I could start to assess all the damage, etc. That's really the worst part about this whole thing, the slow forward speed that this hurricane has. Also, I have no insurance on my house So that sucks a LOT.
  20. 30.17751% - Total Geek I actually thought that I would score higher. That's fine, though.
  21. I just recently got a Tony Suit with the vented booties option. I like them a lot. They recommended them for people who tend to fall on the fast side (which I definitely do). I've never had a problem with them "randomly inflating" or anything like that (I have about 15 jumps and 30 minutes tunnel time with them). The only time that they felt strange at all was when I was forgetting to point my toes. Overall, I think it's a fantastic option.
  22. About 10 people have independently told me that I look like Mike Tyson (pre-tattoo, of course). It got truly ridiculous at one point. I could almost predict that someone was about to say it to me by the way they were looking at me (it always went something like "Hey man, has anyone ever told you that you look like a white Mike Tyson?") I used to shave my head, and no one has said this to me since I have hair, which is fine by me. A guy I work with recently told me that I look like Shrek when he was transformed into a human in Shrek 2. At first I was concerned, because he started the conversation with "Hey, I was watching Shrek the other night and he looked just like you!" According to the webpage, I look like Ewan McGregor, Johnny Depp, and Ralph Fiennes (???)
  23. Lots of tattoos. I personally think they are very unfeminine, especially if they are excessive (sleeves, etc). I've sorta learned to deal with the lower back tattoo, since it seems like EVERY girl has to have one, but I truly enjoy natural feminine beauty.
  24. I was just curious, what was the fall rate of the formation once it was completely built?
