Then the problem is the owner, not the dog. Agreed. Responsible ownership would prevent most of the dog mauling incidents. Unfortunately many people treat these dogs as an extension of their egos or worse, illegal fighting, knowing very little of the responsibility of owning one. I personally have a soft spot for rotties, but I have experience with assertive breeds and I have confidence in my knowledge to become a responsible owner of one. Inexperienced dog owners should stick to labs... Just an afterthought... I used to have a dacshund who was a vicious little MF "I love cooking with wine. Sometimes I even put it in the food."

IMGR2 and SMILES's posts just proves that dogs are pack animals just as much as their ancestors. There is more to aggressivness than breed or owners, although they both contribute to disposition. For a dog in your household your family is the pack and inevitably there is a pack leader. Introducing a baby in the first case was a threat to the delicate balance and the dog's reaction was agression. In the second case there was a new dog introduced, the pack leader (owner) was presumably absent and unfortunately reestablishing the hierarchy resulted in the boys death. However, I have to say that if it was a bunch of chocolate labs it probably wouldn't have happened. Personally, I don't think pits should be banned,(the ones I met were great) but responsible ownership for them as well as other more assertive breeds such as rotties and german sheperds (I had a few) should be enforced. Ankle Braces & injury recovery??
hungarianchick replied to Dumpster's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
[My doc and PT said that once you have an injury like that, the ligament never returns to normal. So you build up the muscles around the area to make them stronger, and try not to injure it again! It is unfortunately true, even with smaller injuries. I rolled my left ankle during AFF two years ago. Although it feels OK most of the time, I feel occasional pain after more intensive workouts and it seems to be less stable. Unfortunately I wasn't able to jump this season due to other reasons but when I get back to the sport I will not be jumping without good ankle braces. "I love cooking with wine. Whatever goes on my skin or hair has to be a name brand (I love everything from Neutrogena) As for other things, I don't really care as long as they work...

As I have mentioned in other workout threads I took up boxing recently and it is the best form of exercise, ever! It is cardio and muscle toning rolled into one kickass workout and it improves balance and core strength. All this will benefit your skydiving.

Love them! Out of the can, in foods such as curry, satay sauce or even stuffing! "I love cooking with wine. Sometimes I even put it in the food."

We have Nextel at work, and it does the job of keeping in touch with the drivers but the phones themselves suck. I have had Verizon for a year now (America's choice plan) and I love it! Great coverage and customer service! "I love cooking with wine. Sometimes I even put it in the food."

Back in my college days in Hungary our favorite was Gyros. It's basically spicy beef or chicken on a roll with lots of yoghurt/mayo sauce and onions. Yumm! Here in the States it's breakfast at Bickfords at 3am...although I don't do it anymore "I love cooking with wine. Sometimes I even put it in the food."

I am totally addicted to Puss from Shrek 2, anyone else?

I agree, he is cute, but my favorite scene is when he coughs up a furball... "I love cooking with wine. Sometimes I even put it in the food." -
While I agree that it pays off to have some flexibility and muscle tone in this sport it doesn't automatically guarantee more success, faster progression. I strongly believe that skydiving is more about mental fitness. I'm 5'5", 120 lbs, athletic, pretty flexible, yet I faced challenges during my progression not because of physical issues, but because my perfectionism wouldn't let me relax! I was scared of failing! So, I guess you could say I was mentally unfit which in skydiving is by far the bigger challenge. "I love cooking with wine. Sometimes I even put it in the food."

I saw it in the regular theatre and I liked it. Now that there is a brand spankin' new IMAX just around the corner from my work, I definitely gonna see it in 3D! Once again, great flick and the skydiving elves were a hoot! "I love cooking with wine. Sometimes I even put it in the food."

I have an 8-4 (or sometimes 7-3) job that has me out of bed at 5:30-6 am. I'm also physically active and has SOME ( ) social life so on weekdays I can't stay awake past 10-10:30 pm. Sleep in for me is 9:00 am, if I stay out late 10-10:30 am. Sleeping much more into the day feels to me like a waste... "I love cooking with wine. Sometimes I even put it in the food."

I agree with PJ about the door alarm. There are several different kinds available, and they don't cost a bundle. They usually take a couple of screws to install but boy are they loud! It should be sufficient to scare the intruder away, but keep that gun handy! Stay alert and good luck! "I love cooking with wine. Sometimes I even put it in the food." -
