  1. That's great.... Anyone got any idea what time that is UK time? I can get CNN on satellite, and would love to see this.....but am completely useless at all this time difference....?
  2. Thanks for all the replies, AXA look pretty good, and I'll take another look at Endsleigh aswell. Checked Columbus, but as mentioned, only seems to cover two jumps. Cheers
  3. I'm just about to take a trip to Canada for 7 weeks (yay...), but need to get some travel insurance that covers skydiving, and I'm having trouble finding any. If anyone from the UK could help me out....let me know where you get insurance from....it would be really useful right now. Thanks
  4. D'oh. I wanted to see this, but didn't realise it was on. You say it's a six part series....when are they being shown?
  5. I'm new. I've seen it spelt both ways, and am curious which is right? Or is it one of those words that doesn't have a proper spelling and either way can be used?
  6. You need to check the response time of the LCD. If you get one that has 16ms response time it should be fine for games, but 30/40ms would not be good.
  7. My oh my, what a long article....I don't think I'll read it all.... ....but yes, Canada does rock. That's why I'm going there in August to start my "life of skydiving"....(it's soooo much cheaper than the UK). Hmmm....two months away from the place that is England.....I'm liking these plans.....
  8. Yeah, thanks, I know I'll just have to face it when the time comes. How much of a wuss am I going to look.... But it's a good amount of time away yet, plenty of opportunities to worry about it properly before it happens.
  9. Yep, I can swim perfectly well....it's weird, I know I can swim, but I still get very nervous and panicky when I go in (or at least try to go in) water.
  10. I realise it's all a worthwhile and important thing to learn...I just wont look forward to it. I haven't been in water for about 10 years (I'm 20 now)...just another stupid fear.
  11. ...that's the part I really wouldn't enjoy ...and that just makes it worse. But thanks for the info.
  12. I'm completely new to skydiving, just going to get started properly this summer, but would like to work through the licenses as time goes on. I've heard about some sort of water training that is part of getting the B License? What exactly is this? The reason I ask is because I'm a little worried I'm going to get stuck at that point.....I'm terrified of water. I know it's an "in the future" thing, but I've got this attitude now that I'm going to be able to get to a particular point in this sport and then have to stop unless I find some miracle cure for my fear (obviously not stop jumping, but stop progressing). So could anyone just give me some more details of what this "water training" is please? Thanks EDIT: Oops, meant to put this in the general skydiving forum
  13. She's the girl from S Club (or at least before they split). Crappy pop band in the UK, thought they had gone to America aswell, but maybe not.
  14. Ah OK, thanks. My post sounds a bit harsh now, didn't mean that... I thought it was someone having at go at us for a dangerous sport.
  15. Could someone explain to a confused person who Jan is? And why she wanted to post something like this? I'm new.....and British....that explains most things.
  16. Well I've only done one (tandem) jump, but I just skimmed it over....I basically just accepted that if I get hurt, injured, killed.....it's probably going to be my fault anyway. I knew the people I was jumping with weren't going to do anything on purpose to make something go wrong, so I was happy with that.
  17. Thanks for that....all makes a bit more sense now
  18. I'm going to be starting AFF soon, having only done one (tandem) jump in the past. The only thing I know is that last time I absolutely loved it, but i'm still completely scared. I think it's probably because I have no experience or knowledge at all of the equipement, I'm basically scared of the parachute not opening. Does anyone know of any good links that explains about the equipment, and how it works etc... I think this would help me feel a bit better about it. Thanks
  19. Thanks for the help there. I'll be jumping at Eden North (just outside Edmonton, www.edennorth.com), I've only done a tandem jump so far, but want to do more, which is why I'm going to do the AFF course (or whatever it may be called). Is the CSPA A that you mention the "A-license" that I've heard about? How long would it usually take to get to that sort of level?
  20. Hi, I've done a quick search, but can't find anything, so sorry if it's already been asked.... I'm in the UK, but am going to be doing an AFF course in Canada this year (partly because it's cheaper, but mostly beacuse I'm going to be spending some time there anyway). I'm guessing there are different rules and licenses with skydiving for different countries, right? What I would like to know is how the licenses go in each country, and what sort of problems am I going to have if I decide I evetually have enough money to do a jump in the UK later on? Any links or help would be great, Thanks
  21. Just thought I'd say hi... I did one tandem jump last year, and have just decided to do an AFF course... ...although the first thing I read in these forums was the "Incidents" page. Don't think I should have just done that.... Ah well, Chris
