I will most likely be going back up there laterpart of next week or so. Staying for about 90 to 120 Days. But with the schedule I built for this project, it will hopefully only be about 90 days. I will only be able to get away one day a week at most, and not every week. But if I dont get to jump once a month my boss knows I might kill someone or explode. So, if anyone lives in OKC and wants to practice their beer drinking skills and show me the cool places to go there, shoot me a pm. "Sacrifice is a part of life. It is supposed to be. So I have taken a new job offer, Gave my notice to my former company today and they cut me loose, go now, get out, cya. Thanks for the notice but no need. So, I am taking a week off before I am even willing to start with my new job. To bad my rig is in Florida getting repaired. It is really wierd to not have 85 things going on at one time like my normal monday. If anyone had my old cell number it isnt any good now. PM or email me for my new one. I did my first 200 jumps after student status on a Sabre 170, loaded about 1.1, Loved it, had one bad opening that was my fault in packing it. From what I have heard it is the lightly loaded sabre's that tend to be more violent openings. I now have a sabre2 150, like it, but like the spectre 150 I have jumped several times also. Edit to say: and I never rolled the nose. "Sacrifice is a part of life. It is supposed to be. It's not something you regret . It's something to aspire to." Mitch Albom

How many dz's do the level of coaching we do? the ones I have been around, as soon as your cleared for solos your own your own, any additional training is up to the student to seek out and pay extra for. We push coaching as you know. That is what I see the big difference between SL and AFF, I don't agree with only a few coached jumps after 7 levels of AFF, I think they (students) should have to be briefed and debriefed by a coach or instructor even if they are doing a solo. How many other dz's do what we do every week, to make sure our students are getting their "money's worth"? Not many, in my opinion. To sum up my opinion, It falls on the level instruction given. Why did I get my coaches rating? Because I didn't like the level of coaching available, and willing, to me as a student, So I did something about it, and I sought out coaching as a student and after, still. Starting AFF - condensing the 10 jumps good or not?
Perky77 replied to velvet's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Very true. I went thru AFF in two weekends. Know your limits and don't push yourself over them. You don't learn very well when you are fatigued. "Sacrifice is a part of life. It is supposed to be. It's not something you regret . It's something to aspire to." Mitch Albom -
Ron, your static line students may be above the average AFF student because of the time you spend with them. If more AFF instructors or coaches spent that level of time with their students, I think AFF would be equal as far as developing canopy skills early, but unfortunately the focus of AFF is more on freefall. Maybe all this talk about canopy restrictions and required canopy skills training is a really good thing for the whole ISP. "Sacrifice is a part of life. It is supposed to be.
