I never mentioned commercial trucks, anymore than I mentioned M1 tanks on our highways. It's a red herring brought up someone else to distract from the simple, some would say inconvenient, facts I have laid out.

Just what does the "T" in LTs (no apostrophe as it is plural and not possessive) stand for.

Road damage per axle is proportional to the cube of axle weight. Big trucks are grossly UNDER taxed for the amount of road damage they cause. Ford F-150 4040lbs Tesla model S 4608lbs You were saying? If you think a F-150 is "big" as trucks go, your girl friend/wife must be sorely disappointed. As usual, you are missing the point. I will type slowly... Americas favorite TRUCK weighs less and causes less road damage (on a per vehicle basis) than BillV's beloved Tesla and unlike the Tesla, F150s pay for the roads they use via fuel taxes.

People are going to be surprised when they read 1984

"People are going to be surprised when they read 1984" When? I first read it in 1962. Your lack of "clue" is no longer a surprise, however. As a paleo-lib, it is not surprising that you are unaware of recent events. FYI there has been a resurgence of interest in the book since Trumps election. BTW I read it twice, in the eighties. Once in high school, once in college. For social commentary, I prefer Voltaire. -

ACA not ACH, edit function timed out -
Apparently you hate math, because my numbers are patently true. Have fun with your magical thinking, and say hi to the unicorns for me.

You're misunderstanding the core principal of the book. The totalitarian state / fight against opression is the subplot. It's more of a playbook on mass manipulation - constantly stating the 'facts' as you want them to be seen, limiting access to other sources of information etc. It's a work of genius. I'll give Trump this; he's a natural at it. The Affordable Care Act? Gun Safety? Tax Expenditures? Woman's Reproductive Health? All examples of doublespeak. An Obamacare architect openly stated how they used doublespeak to pass the ACH. Unlike in 1984, there are information sources that don't run lockstep with Big Brother. For example, Obama's boogie man, FOX news. With regard to Trump, he is not a master of it, he is terrible at it. The only one he is able to convince, is himself. He is, however, a master of distraction. While the media have been going ape shit over his crowd size claims, his cabinet pick hearings have largely gone under the radar and most, if not all, will be approved. -
If you want to go bat shit crazy speculative, invest in some Tesla and Solar City now that they will soon be removed from the government teat.

+1 "Nevada has agreed to provide Tesla with $1.3 billion in incentives to help build a massive battery factory near Reno." I must have missed the report of Pennsylvania providing Range Resources with $1.3 billion to develop Marcellus shale gas.

It is much more Bush/Obama than Trump, alternative facts not withstanding. -
No the doucheness come in when one bad mouths "big oil" and " big truck." To continue your airport analogy; it would be like some glider guys showing up to the airport with a solar powered ground launch, and talking smack to the skydivers who pay for tank after tank of 100LL
-
Persons (which of course include corporations) who take public money and then badmouth the entities which provide that money, do have a certain amount of doucheyness. Tesla, Leaf and Volt drivers travel on the roads paid for by "big truck" drivers, while not contributing to the funding mechanism which pay for those roads. SpaceX, First Solar and Tesla (the company) are subsidized by the taxes paid by "big oil." A classic example of makers vs. takers (with a tincture of douche).
-
Exxon can't have very good tax breaks when they pay more than $30 billion a year in corporate income tax. How many billions did Tesla, First Solar, and SpaceX pay? How much do you contribute to the highway fund through fuel taxes My guess is somewhere around ZERO, but feel free to set me straight.
-
It ain't exactly freedom, when the big truck guys are helping you afford your toy.

http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-hy-musk-subsidies-20150531-story.html The figure compiled by The Times comprises a variety of government incentives, including grants, tax breaks, factory construction, discounted loans and environmental credits that Tesla can sell. It also includes tax credits and rebates to buyers of solar panels and electric cars. One reason Tesla cares so much about California's air The electric automaker Tesla has a side business. It's called environmental credits. A looming question is whether the companies are moving toward self-sufficiency — as Dolev believes — and whether they can slash development costs before the public largesse ends. Tesla and SolarCity continue to report net losses after a decade in business"
-
I think you have it backwards, Exxon paid taxes, Musk got subsidies.
-
You accuse me of back pedaling, I don't think you know what it means. I said that fossil fuels contributed more to the country than renewables you took the opposite position, I proved it, you have not. I will give you an "A" for obfuscation and goal poll movement though. By all means continue to flail away.
-
The difference being, net net, big oil adds 100 billion+ to federal and state coffers, while solar is a drain. Still waiting for my math lesson.
-
Sound just like a "big oil" subsidy. Any tax break going to fossil fuel companies goes right back to the people in the form of cheaper energy prices, dividends, and salaries, the corporation gets nothing. I realize this is a tough concept for you to grasp. BTW still waiting for you guys to get all mathy on me.
