He was one of the dropping flies.

Not so, Joe Manchin and Christian Sinema are two shining examples of principled individuals who resisted the mob.

The second order effects haven’t shown up to the party (just like I said they wouldn’t) and the effect of additional CO2 is quickly diminishing as you can clearly see in the last six years of NOAA data. The only thing getting hotter is the rhetoric.
-
If you want to get big, let’s talk about CO2 and temperatures on a geological scale. Nothing that we are experiencing now is unprecedented nor catastrophic. If you want to believe the sky is falling go tell Henny Penny, but please spare me.
-
No, I said CO2 is not as much of an influence on global temperature as “climate crybabies claimed” This should not be a surprise, even M. Mann said that CO2 could only go so far to raise temperatures, his hockey stick theory depended on reinforcing factors to kick in and amplify the greenhouse effect (lower ice and snow cover reducing albedo, more water vapor, the release of methane hydrides, cloud cover trapping heat etc.). As you can clearly see despite rising CO2, temperatures have failed to “hockey stick”, I’m sorry if that upsets you.

Agreed, of course the “big picture” covers millennium not just a century.

And Cooler than 1000 years ago. And cooler than it was 2000+ years ago when Hannibal crossed the Alps on the backs of elephants.

Any thoughts on using “free” electricity from charging stations to mine cryptocurrency?

That is why I use NOAA’s data for the entire year. That’s right, the whole globe for the whole year...end result….COLDER! I don’t know why this simple fact is so upsetting to you. You should be relieved at the lack of warming not angry. “More than one factor” is what I have been saying for YEARS, it is Michael Mann and company who rule out natural variability and claim CO2 is a veritable thermostat for the planet.
-
Trends can be manipulated. I will keep it simple. The globe is cooler than it was six years ago.

Just watched Biden speak about his bad week. He no longer wants to bring about “sweeping fundamental change” or to “save democracy” he is now reduced to fixing broken bridges. So much for his dream of being the next FDR.
-
Half a decade, despite record levels of CO2. Obviously the climate’s sensitivity to elevated levels of CO2 is not as great as climate crybabies claimed. (How’s that for an alliteration?)
-
Glad you mentioned NOAA, they confirm the cooling continues. 2021 is colder not warmer than five out of the last six years.

Cut Olof some slack, he is a young buck and can’t help himself.

Build Back Better? Vaccine mandate? Freedom to Vote bill? Filibuster reform? Green New Deal? The Biden Presidency?

Did you check out the title of this thread?

Except that is not what is actually happening “On average, total annual precipitation has increased over land areas in the United States and worldwide (see Figures 1 and 2). Since 1901, global precipitation has increased at an average rate of 0.10 inches per decade, while precipitation in the contiguous 48 states has increased at a rate of 0.20 inches per decade.” https://www.epa.gov/climate-indicators/climate-change-indicators-us-and-global-precipitation “The trouble with our Liberal friends is not that they're ignorant; it's just that they know so much that isn't so.” R.R.

My comment was that the information I shared from the IAE should serve as a reality check for those who believe that the world will be powered by windmills and solar panels and that EVs will overtake IC powered vehicles in the next few years. We have a lot of “magical thinking” on SC. I just thought it would be helpful to inject a dose of reality. P.S. Please don’t rephrase this post as my “love of coal”
-
Why do you feel the need to put words into my mouth? I didn’t say that the IEA did. I called it a “reality check” re·al·i·ty check noun INFORMAL an occasion on which one is reminded of the state of things in the real world.

I found this interesting “Tesla owners speak to CNBC about how they’ve used the internal computer and battery power of the car to mine cryptocurrencies. San Francisco-based Siraj Raval mines ethereum by hooking up graphic processing units directly to the Tesla car battery. Siraj Raval has tried just about every way there is to mine for cryptocurrencies from his 2018 Tesla Model 3. He’s run free bitcoin mining software on his Apple Mac mini M1 and powered the computer by plugging an inverter into the 12-volt power socket located in the center console of his car. He’s also hooked up interconnected graphics processing units or GPUs to the “frunk” of his Tesla, running these machines off the car’s internal battery. Though it risks voiding his car warranty, Raval says it’s worth it.” “Free” money as well as as a “free” recharge

A reality check from the IEA. “Global sales of SUVs have proven very resilient throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, growing by over 10% in 2021. We estimate that SUVs accounted for more than 45% of global car sales in 2021, setting a new record in terms of both volume and market share, according to our recent commentary. While there are also more and more electric SUVs on the market, the vast majority of SUVs on the world’s roads today – over 98% – still rely on internal combustion engines. SUVs are heavier and consume around 20% more energy than a medium-sized car. They rank among the top causes of energy-related carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions growth over the last decade. In 2021 alone, the global fleet of SUVs increased by over 35 million, driving up annual emissions by 120 million tonnes of CO2.“ BTW in the same report the IEA predicts another record year for coal as renewables fail to keep pace with global demand.

Agreed, however the dire predictions have failed to materialize. In some cases, the opposite of what was predicted has happened. (Shrinking deserts, record food production, fewer strong tornadoes, growing polar bear population)
