Hm, this thing is pretty neat. It's modelled on a phone right off, so very intuitive. Haven't had a chance to test the quality yet, since judedre fears my force powers. Oh well, back to playing Knights of the old Republic (pilot dinnae even show up at DZ today, gotta do something). Santa Von GrossenArsch I only come in one flavour ohwaitthatcanbemisunderst

Dude, you're so gonna get drunk dialled. Now it doesn't matter that I live on the other side of the Atlantic Coward. You fear my wrath and therefore do not dare to answer. I can feel the disturbance in the force. Santa Von GrossenArsch I only come in one flavour ohwaitthatcanbemisunderst

He's a pretty good man, I think (the Pope). There are more deserving people for the peace prize though. Perhaps another prize is in order for the pope, but not the peace one. And the Pope's Accelerated Saintification Program is sort of funny. He's really punching saints out. Bush and Blair as peace prize nominees? No. I understand their motives and intentions, which are good if one views 'em as an idealist, but they haven't been good at winning peace. Wars, yeah, but not peace. Maybe if Bush had finished the Afghanistan business before tying up all his resources in Iraq - maybe then it wouldn't seem like such an...insult. Aw, ghesus f00kn Krimst dude! I dunno who's more disturbed - him for shagging a car while he wears women's underwear or you for posting the pic. I'll never be able to look at a car without being revulsed. Thanks, man. How the flock did he manage that? He can't be too well equipped. And red just isn't his colour. This confirms my theory that just about all people are sexual deviants. Yet some people claim that humans aren't a species of animal. This is little different from a male spider fertilizing a female one, knowing full well she'll kill and consume 'im afterwards. Shit, man. Freeflir29's sheep pr0n collection is vanilla sex compared to *that*. Heh Santa Von GrossenArsch I only come in one flavour ohwaitthatcanbemisunderst

Heheh dude, for HTML, nothing beats NotePad. I even have a pal that hates all kinda editors. He does all his programming in NotePad. Needless to say, he's slow as shit and never can find those null pointers . Dreamtrasher is crapware, definitely agree. Santa Von GrossenArsch I only come in one flavour ohwaitthatcanbemisunderst

I'd accept it as what it is - smart. Skydiving is dangerous enough as it is - why add more risk? I'm still a newbie (83 jumps), so I have no real experience to tell me "they're too conservative wrt the winds right now". Better safe than sorry, anyhow. Hm, all this litigation stuff must be kinda nerve wrecking, no? Most of my US acquaintances and friends seem to have a very real worry about civil suits - in all aspects of life. Am told you can counter sue and get the other fellow to pay for the court costs etc, but that this isn't always possible or a solution. So I understand a desire to lower the risk of suits. But correct me if I am wrong. In the US, most DZs are commercial entities, no? (not club based as in Denmark)? And the ones making the suits would be skydivers? If this is the case it seems a bit odd to me that the customers, buying a product from a company, should pay to have their possibilites for legal actions reduced. Maybe I am not understanding the US situation correctly, but if what I stated above is true, then I cannot see how the customers and the businesses are in the same boat. Sure, it is in the interest of the customer to get a good price and that might happen if insurance wasn't too high, but it is also in the customers interest to have as many legal options as possible. And, as business entities, it's their own job to ensure that operating costs are kept at a minimum. A sensible business owner cannot expect that his customers will fork over money in the hope that the business owner, after receiving benefits, will carry a trickle of it on to the customer. That the customer does accept this burden is an indication of both desperation and loyalty. Yet it's almost a form of blackmail - "you need us to jump, so pay this now coz we won't and if it doesn't get paid we'll raise our prices". As far as price hikes go, I suspect supply and demand would take care of that. I sincerely hope I've misunderstood something here and that I'll be corrected. However there's a part of me that says I haven't. Santa Von GrossenArsch I only come in one flavour ohwaitthatcanbemisunderst

As far as I gathered, their answers to the questions on the test, that's where they are on the political compass. (You can take the test yourself, I come off pretty much smack in the middle). I gather the author has answered the questions for them based on interviews, debates and so forth. Of course, I might be totally wrong

Nice perspective there, good post. Just goes to show that the problem is complicated and the easy-to-digest solution politicians love to give us aren't really that good. That's one thing I hate about politics. It's the lowest common denominator thingy. Basically, everything they do has to be put in so simple terms even the dumbest voter gets it. It's a wonder democracy still is viable. Santa Von GrossenArsch I only come in one flavour ohwaitthatcanbemisunderst

It's sort of amusing in a way how science is seen as an adversary of established religions. It doesn't have to be and it certainly wasn't created for that purpose. I think your approach is quite sensible and takes this into account. If a religious person is violently opposed to a new scientific discovery, perhaps that person is a) wrong, and refusing to consider alternatives b) reading his or her religious text too literally c) generally opposed to science since it removes the mysticism of the world d) sees it as a threat to his/her faith or e) any other whacko theory I can come up with. Take the theory of evolution for instance. One who reads the Bible quite literally would be appalled by it, since it contradicts "the words of God". If, however, said person accepted what's in the bible as more of an analogy or "mind picture", it would not be hard for the theory of evolution to coexist with a strong faith. One could easily say "ah yes, true enough, I can see that. God sure was smart when he created evolution, huh?" Of course I, as a non Christian in the biblical sense, would go on and on about how the bible is more and more being interpreted figuratively instead of literally as science progresses. And I'd add "funny, huh". But I won't, coz there's no need to . Santa Von GrossenArsch I only come in one flavour ohwaitthatcanbemisunderst

Who is the best web host with the best web site building utility?
vonSanta replied to rhino's topic in The Bonfire
The answer basically is: for that kind of storage, set up your own server. Then, open notepad and start typing in some HTML (if your site is of a static nature). For some less-than-super-advanced dynamic content, use PHP or ASP and mayhap MySQL for some free database stuff. There are lots of advantages that comes with having your own server - youu can set it up to support just about whatever you want without having to pay for every single little thing. Also, are you asking about which is the best host provider or about what program is best for creating and maintaining a website? Or both? I really need more info about what you're going to do with the website to be able to provide you with a hint, sorry bro Santa Von GrossenArsch I only come in one flavour ohwaitthatcanbemisunderst -
Oh man! I feel for you, I really do. For whatever it's worth, I wish the best for ya. Surgeons are very good nowadays. The odds are stacked very much to your side. Wish you could avoid it though . Couldn't agree with you more. While intelligence is a desireable trait in a president, there are more pressing qualitities. It's not about coming up with a unifying theory of physics. It's about making judgement calls, setting policy, manipulating people and staying in power. It's about outmaneuvering your opponents, picking one's allies and timing. It's about a want to project your own ideas about the world onto the general population and making 'em like it . Agree complete with ya, LawRocket. Hm, it shouldn't be too difficult to get a basic simulation done. Of course accurate flight models of specific canopies would be pretty hard to do (and require lots of testing and verification, what an excuse to go skydiving eh?), but a generic canopy should be doable. Any decent programmer with 3d graphics programming experience should be able to do a basic Boun...err swoop game. It's a game, so it doesn't need to be that accurate. More important that it's fun. Mebbe I should start. Hell, I'm unemployed, so why not? Santa Von GrossenArsch I only come in one flavour ohwaitthatcanbemisunderst

I might be able to help you out. But first I must say that what created or started evolution has absolutely nothing to do with the accuracy of the theory of evolution. It could be Barney The Dog who somehow did it - but what we are examining is an explanation for an observation. Secondly, a scientific theory differs very much from what the general population considers a theory. Yours is an example of the latter. it's a misnomer, really, because you're making an assertion, which has yet to be supported in any way or form. A scientific theory on the other hand talks about a statement that postulates ordered relationships among natural phenomena. It's falsifiable - it *has* to be, since science in general isn't like mathematics. We go by what the evidence we have says - and if new come in that contradict the current stuff, we have a mechanism for correcting our error. The scientific world is a beautiful thing to watch - it is self correcting, although sometimes it does so grudgingly. I should start by saying that evolution is both a fact *and* a theory. There are great misconceptions about evolution and the theory of evolution. To put it in rather generic terms, evolution is a change in allele frequency in a population over time. See this link for a down-to-earth discussion about that. I'll quote a bit: It's not very hard at all to prove this takes place - we call it evolution, and it is a fact. Now the theory of evolution is far more complex - but it is as well supported as many other scientific theories. And it's just that - a scientific theory. Not an assertion or a conspiracy theory. That word has been so misused that people are getting the wrong idea when it's used. Languages are dynamic so who knows, maybe soon the word theory will equate "wild assed guess . Now the theory of evolution doesn't prove it is absolutely right - that's almost impossible to do aside from human constructs where we set the parameters - but it's very well supported. I could go on about this, but talkorigins does a much better job. If you think the theory of evolution is wrong in some particular area, feel free to bring it up. I'll do my best to answer it. But, you gotta admit, having empirical data, reproducable, falsifiable experiments is a hell of a lot better than simply saying "goddidit" as far as proof and support goes. Hm, not to slam Bush or anything, but on that transcript he doesn't come off as either eloquent or particularly bright. Sure, it is hard to talk publicly, but he ought to be used to it now. Quite short, Hemmingway-esque sentences, often repeating what he's just said. Use of a very limited vocabulary. Am not saying that the use of language necessarily reflects intelligence. In generally does, but there are exceptions. Bush, I think, is probably above average intelligence wise, but as world political leaders go, he's far from the top. Then again, it's the use of the available intelligence that matters, not the amount. And man, am I tired of "polite laughter". Anyone 'normal' make some of the lame jokes in there and there'd be only an embarrasing silence. silence. But that ain't Bush's fault - always that way when someone 'important' speaks. The humorous content of a comment, it seems, is directly proportional to how important the person making it is. Still, I'm a bit disappointed with the way he uses the language. For some reason I expect people in such high positions to at least be as eloquent as say your average post grad student. About the content - internal US politics isn't my forté, so I'll refrain from commenting that. I'm just a bit struck by how sorta low quality of his oratory (am not talking argumentative) performance. For all the Bush supporters: you may be right - he may be a very bright, great President with a moral compass - am not arguing that. Just a wee comment coming from a slight disappointment. If it's worn by a Jewish girl, isn't it sort of self irony, or taking the piss on stereotypes? And according to the sentiment, you're not allowed to do that? Even if it's not, big deal. I caught some flak from havin the Bad Religion Crossbuster in my sig followed by "Trespassers will be shot - survivors will be shot again" (on another forum). Still, it was an attempt at humour. If these people get their way humour will cease to be and we'll have a bland generic PC style concoction that'll serve only to depress us. Oh man, don't the tandem passengers get skeered when you put your jet so close to 'em? Oh, what do you fly, btw? A US acquaintance of mine is about to start flying the B1. Now that's firepower. Marijuana and Skydiving. Good, bad, indifferent?
vonSanta replied to BravestDog's topic in The Bonfire
Hm, I read about an experienced skydiver who misjudged a swoop and died. Cannabis has serious effects on your depth perception. I consider it unwise to smoke it at all. Even worse to do it prior to a skydive. You might up killing more people than yourself, so it's a pretty egotistical act. Santa Von GrossenArsch I only come in one flavour ohwaitthatcanbemisunderst
