  1. There was a Broussard that sat at Aero Country DZ in the Dallas area for a while in the mid 80s but never flew. Seems it had similar FAA certification problems suffered by the single engine Otter and the AN-2. We were jumping a Beaver at the time and it would have been interesting to compare the capabilities of both as jump planes. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  2. My brother showed it to them but he was not the most sane person in situations like that (you just had to be there ) at that point. It was just one of those gray areas where the EMTs, under the circumstances I guess, felt they just had to cover their own asses. I guess I kind of understand but the legally executed document was presented to them. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  3. Had the exact same experience with my mom. My idiot brother (RIP) called 911 even though she had a DNR in place because she was 93 years old and in constant, agonizing pain. When the ambulance got there she was not breathing and unresponsive. The crew eventually revived her on the way to the hospital and for the remainder of her life, all five agonizing months of it, mild mannered, church going mom damned those EMT's to Hell on an hourly basis for going against her wishes. 4. Very sorry to hear this. Jumped with Barry in Dallas for a while and the only time I was involved in a lawsuit that was skydiving related, Barry successfully defended us in court.
  5. Another excuse for firearms dealers to drive prices up even more. "Better get 'em now before they GPS em". The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  6. Turtle, are you not entitled because you "voluntarily quit" your business or other reasons? That "voluntarily quit" nonsense is the reason I got for not being entitled. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  7. I hear that, several years ago the major reason I shut down and got back into the job market was that it seemed everything government wise is stacked against small business and still doesn't go away long after your closed. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  8. Same situation as Ron, was never asked any question about exes. I applied in person and from walking in the door until leaving the whole proceedure took maybe 15 minutes. The entire transaction was much easier than registering a car at DMV and the person I dealt with was a real, English speaking 'merican. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  9. Hate to tell you this Turtle but Ronald Reagan was very dependent on teleprompters for most of his speeches. Didn't seem to be a big deal then, why now, what's the big sweat about it? The older I get the less I care who I piss off.

  11. The last jump I ever made was out of the same turbine Otter that Aggie Dave described. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  12. Hey, be it local, state or national, politics is nothing more than "Operation Repo" with suits and ties. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.

  14. Could they do one of those for the Governor of Texas? The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  15. Hell, for the first four days gerbils in a treadmill generator would have been a luxury. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  16. Wasn't spat upon but immediatly after arriving back in the USA from SEA in 1969 and being discharged from the service, in uniform, while waiting for a flight home, I was refused service at a bar in the SFO airport. Talk about cruel, welcome home. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  17. Thoughts from personal experience living way out in the country, three adults no children: In an extended power outtage, three weeks regionally in our case due to severe ice storm and rerelated damage, a generator is a mighty handy item to have around but only as useful as the amount of the fuel you have on hand to run them. When that stockpile of fuel is gone there won't be anymore available for at least four days and they use five gallons a day for about six hours of useage. Communications with relatives, neighbors, law enforcement. medical assistance, etc. will likely be non existant for the about the first five days due to no phone service either cell or land. Roads impassable due to fallen trees and limbs. Food supplies will be what you have on hand for at least the first five days. Water will be where ever you can find it. Toilets take five gallons per flush so that happens once a day. Heat will be however you can. Break ins happening at an alarming rate. Very comforting knowing a loaded weapon is in every room of the house and side side arms strapped at all times. There was always someone awake just in case. Good experience I guess. 18. Nor do I, sorry for you that you got that impression. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  19. Nope, doesn't extend beyond the tube as you put it. Oh hell Mike, if it makes any difference I just looked through the scope on my .22 and it doesn't estend beyond the viewing circle........but its oval shaped.
  20. Doesn't really say anything, does yours? Not really set up to take the requested photo but the crosshairs in mine are visible beyond the target area into the darker area surrounding it though. BTW did me some surveying in my younger years on bridge sites and guess what............. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  21. Just went out and looked through the scope on my 30.06 and guess what, it still looks exactly like the crosshairs on Palin's map. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  22. Wow. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  23. After all these years, I'll still stop what I'm doing and happily listen when either "Baker Street" or "Right Down The Line" is played, good stuff, good times. Rock on Gerry, RIP. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  24. A man that does a song titled "My Baby Don't Wear No Panties" deserves immortality. Rock on Mean Gene, RIP. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  25. Bob Chaffin was the most influential instructor for me from FJC through advanced canopy control, accuracy, CRW and basic RW. That man left the ego at the airport entrance and had a simple, easy to grasp teaching method that other old bastards from the Dallas area can attest to. Also, with a similar technique as above, Bill Morrissey's tadem certification instruction and encouragement back in the physically challenging, very painful, pre drouge days of early tandem are what kept me involved before the drogue came along. All tandem jumps after that development were cake. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
