This is long overdue, but the 100 jumps for Parkinson's reminded me of this post. Jeremy~ I'm sorry that I never responded back when this post was out, but I was extremely busy and not posting at the time. I just wanted to say what I had wanted to say back then... Thank you so much for having done this. You should be applauded (I'm sure that you were) for your efforts to help raise awareness and funds for domestic violence. You (and Skydive Kansas) ROCK, my friend! Are you ever doing anything like that, again? Just curious?

Charity - 100 jumps to fight Parkinson's Disease
VanillaSkyGirl replied to rehmwa's topic in The Bonfire
Yes, it is. My grandmother's had Parkinson's for quite a while, and the last few years have been very difficult. It's depressing to me to know that my grandmother is helpless inside her own body. Her health problems are the MAIN reason that I stopped jumping...too much time away, when I could be helping family. I can always focus on skydiving later, but I might never be able to get those years back with loved ones in poor health. Rehmwa~ Please keep us up-to-date with this event. It's a great cause, and I'd love to donate. I'd also help as a volunteer, if it was taking place any closer! -
Hey there, I'm confused...none of those with ribbons and rigs were any suggestions of mine. Maybe you had me confused w/ another poster on this thead? Also, I like your avatar art, but I don't like the fact that we're wearing something so "skydiver"-ish at an AIDS Walk. As I said before, I like for the focus to be on the cause, not on us, as skydivers. My two cents...

Hello everyone~ Please donate by clicking on one of our links to our personal donation pages or join us in the Los Angeles AIDS Walk on Oct. 21st. Thanks!

Vacation suggestions (inexpensive please)
VanillaSkyGirl replied to ladyskydiver's topic in The Bonfire
Oh my gosh, I remember that boogie in Eloy. I thought the skin on my face was going to fall off while I was still walking around on the ground. Then, I began jumping with that open-faced helmet...argh! It was still good times. Cora, let me know if you go to Vegas because I have a skydiver friend who lives in the area now, and she has asked me to visit her. Maybe she could meet up with you or offer help/advice? -
Thanks, Alaura. I'm so happy, that you joined! We need to have a large group lunch after our walk.

Hello team! I'm back home, and I like Mark's SECOND TO LAST one the best so far, although I am unsure about the rainbow colors. I have to get back to my work, but I thought I'd contribute a very rough (ugh) Photoshop sketch using some of Mark's previous elements. Btw, I can draw beautifully by hand, but I am NOT a graphic artist! (Those are graphic department jobs.) Someone will need to clean this up (or resketch) if you like the concept. I prefer for us to not have the focus on the actual skydiver, since this walk is not about us. Imho, we can still represent ourselves by including just a parachute and a big ribbbon. Just a thought... EDITED: Our last ones are similar! Did you go by what I had written in one of my earlier posts?

Ok, I know that I said that I would wear what everyone picks, but I think because I used to do this (design clothing...and beautiful screened tees were a specialty of mine) I have to say to please pick out more than one color. All-red bothers me. I know that it's cheaper to make, but if we get up to approx. five colors on one screened tee, the cost is about the same. Pop out the ribbon in RED, and change the AWLA font to black. I could say more, but I have to leave now for a morning meeting with my teammates (presentation). Have fun! Edited: I think the round chute is more hamonious. Take off the ribbons on the side, keep the Skydivers 6837 in the middle, and under the red ribbon, place AIDS Walk L.A. 2007 in black in a curve (going up on the ends) to mimic the round shape at the top of the chute.

I was just going to wear a SD Elsinore tee or tank. Are we all getting matching t-shirts? Hmmm...whatever you guys/girls want to wear is fine with me. Edited: Fyi, this AIDS Walk is the weekend (Sunday) after the Chick's Rock Boogie, in case anyone wants to extend their stay in sunny California. You could stay from one weekend to the next!

I saw that, Sherm...good for you!

Lmao...I couldn't eat junk food as a child, which is probably why I crave it as an adult. Although I go through phases when I am disgusted by it, and I have to eat healthy food. I go back and forth. One thing that sucks is that I am addicted to COKE, although it's not the best thing for me. Water is my only go-to drink. I need to drink a certain amount every day, or I feel awful. Speaking of healthy food cravings, I actually do LOVE fruit, above all. Unfortunately, I can't eat most fruit (health reasons) and certainly not fruit juices or smoothies. I feel RALFFERS pain! The odd thing is that much of the "junk food" out there doesn't give my body problems, that some natural foods do. I find that very, very, very odd... Oh, and olives and pickles are yummy, but my body doesn't tolerate them too much.

Lol...i do this ALL of the time! Thankfully, I have a quick metabolism, but I love eating either sweets (cake, cookies, icea cream, candy) or salty treats (chips). Mmmmm...

Some people on here know that most of my relatives live in Peru. ( I am 100% Peruvian and was born there 36 years ago.) Thankfully, my relatives are all ok. Thanks to everyone who has asked me via messages or calls.
