  1. Angriest. Poster. Ever. Poor boy probably needed to take a break before his head exploded. He's probably sitting in a darkened room lashing himself with a stick and blaming liberals for his pain. File under Bill Cole.
  2. I should totally be a moderator.
  3. I've jumped both the PD143R and PD126R at 215 pounds exit weight at sea level. Both opened consistently and flew in a very predictable manner. Even heavily loaded, the 126 was very easy to flare, and actually refused to aggresively stall when I tested it high up. The landing was in nil winds and was easy to stand up with a progessive flare. Other small reserves I've flown have been very touchy about flaring, and I've seen some collapse entirely on flaring. I'd highly reccomend both the 143 and 126.
  4. You usually see that sign in the women's bathroom on prom nights.
  5. I ususally tell 'em to go fuck themselves. No point in trying to be reasonable to dicks. Life's too short for that.
  6. I believe that is was made by a company called FTS Technology. The also made the Rascal main if I remember correctly. Long gone out of business.
  7. Or even a D-ring for the reserve handle rather than a pillow. There's pros and cons to both approaches; personally I'll always have a D-ring because I like the idea that I can hook one finger or the thumb of either hand in there and still get the reserve out in a situation where I'm incapacitated. There's the middle ground. Choose the low porfile reserve handle. It's the same size as a pillow, but it's a D-Ring.
  8. The Argus. Standard, Swoop, Student and Tandem modes. Logs jumps and freefa speeds also. That's what I use. http://www.argus-aad.com
  9. Probably a good move. They are a one note band really......
  10. The transplant didnt take back then? Nope, it just moved south to my ass.
  11. Probably, if people want to see photos of what I looked like 20 years ago when I had hair.
  12. http://www.myspace.com/garethholder It's all bass guitars and harleys though. No skydiving. Why would I have a page about my work ?
  13. Hmmm. That would explain the pounding in my rectum.
  14. This is a better use of the tie dye IMHO.
  15. Wouldn't have happened if you'd bought a Wings.
  16. That sarcasm or do you actually know who this person is? Hot tip: this is a very small sport. If it appears in Skydiving magazine, chances are a lot of people know who the author is. Another Hot Tip, it's SKYDIVE Mag (UK) NOT SKYDIVING (USA) Yes, but Gareth lives in Berkeley, CA. and like you and me, he's a Brit-abroad! tash And I'll have you all know that I offerd my sage words to Skydiving first and they passed on it, mainly becuase I think there was too much about farting in it. As it's a subject near and dear to a Brit's heart, Lesley at Skydive Mag had it in a flash, bless her. Farting is always funny, no exception. Americans fail to realise this. Anyway, I wrote it as a consequence of what happened to me when I jumped with a blocked ear. I stroked out my left ear, and lost all hearing in it. I was profoundly deaf for two months on that side, had to have steriod therapy (not fun), and no jumping. Only 30% of people so injured ever get their hearing back, I was one of the lucky ones.
  17. How about this. If I don't have a driver's license, I can't drive, but I'm not banned from doing so once I get a license. If I've been banned from driving, I can't get a license and I can't drive. Fair enough ? Now, I've spoken to representatives of the companies you mention, and the Argus is not banned in the sense that it can never be placed in their products. It's currently under evaluation to see if it's compatible with them, which is completely normal. The Argus went through this procedure with us at Wings before we allowed it to be installed. If it passes inspection with these other compaines, it will be allowed to be fitted, as it is in every other major rig. If it doesn't meet their standards, it won't. It really is that simple. That they haven't finished their evaluation yet shouldn't lead you to any false conclusions. That's not playing with words, it's just a statement of the facts. I think this matter is pretty much settled now though. There doesn't appear to be anything wrong with the Argus that would cause much concern. I shall now retire from the thread victorious in my own mind.
  18. Not much I can do, but I could have a word with my sponsors, Wings, PD and Argus to see if I can get him cost on new stuff. If others chip in, we could get him new gear cheap.
  19. And there is also the fact that the Argus loop was placed incorrectly with a knot inside the cutter under no tension as described in the document I attached to a thread in an earlier post in this thread. It's dishonest to design a test that you you know that the unit can't pass, then fail it, and refuse to correct or duplicate it. To date, there's been no failiures of the Argus in the field, but as it's new, it's perfectly reasonable for manufacturers to wait on approving it until they have seen more data. Waiting for approval is a whole different situation from being banned from use, as Vigil are with RI products, and from some drop zones in the UK for unexplained misfires. The Argus isn't banned from RI and Strong, it's just waiting on approval from them. The Argus website http://www.argus-aad.com has all the manufacturers that have seen the unit and allowed it to be installed, available for review with the original documentation from the companies. These are not insignificant players in the sport market, Wings, Jump Shack, Javelin, Vector etc. It's early days yet, and I'm sure that the others will follow if the Argus continues to perform as well as it currently does. No one can fault these companies for being cautious in today's legal environment. Just don't mistake "not currently approved" for "Banned". I have an Argus in all my rigs. I'll be your test bitch. 200 jumps so far. How's about that ?
  20. You'll get 2 hours of the worst of the 80's and like it.
  21. Perhaps this will shed a little light on the cutter issue.
  22. Nickleback suck ? Next up.. Fish takes dip Bear defecates in sylvian setting etc etc
  23. It's easy to make bold statements when the facts back you up
  24. Indeed it has. Fron the RI website. STATUS OF VIGIL AAD in RI PRODUCTS Posted June 12, 2006 As of this date, Rigging Innovations DOES NOT approve the installation and/or use of the Vigil AAD in any RI product. The manufacturer of the Vigil AAD has taken upon themselves to authorize the installation of the Vigil AAD in any Cypres ready or approved harness and container system. This is in opposition to the FAA and the harness and container manufacturer. In accordance with AC105-2C, the AAD installation must be approved by the FAA as part of the harness and container TSO data package. There are certain technical issues that have been identified and need to be resolved before RI can authorize the use of the Vigil in any RI product. STATUS OF ARGUS AAD Posted August 9, 2006 The Argus AAD is currently being tested our in our products. At this time the Argus is not approved for use in any RI products. Argus is not banned in RI products. It's just curently waiting approval after they have tested it's functions and compatabilty. Jerome is correct. He can decide what goes into his containers. He doesn't have to have a reason that makes sense to anyone but himself. I'm sure that in time, he'll become more comfortable with the Argus. Until then, he has to do whatever he considers right for the security of his business.
