Those, I'm afraid, are a little harder to come by. Technology to create "Girl Toys" has been around for some time, mainly due to the fact that it's much easier to please a males than females. This in mind, those "Girl Toys" that do exist are still gainfully employed and probably will continue to be for some time. __________________________________________ Have you Got Flare?

Well, it looks like I'll have a little time on my hands after this weekend, so I'm looking to work. Ladies, here's your one and only chance to get a real "Boy Toy". Though much more than a toy, I'll have you know I come well trained! I cook, clean, and even put the seat down! I'm good to cuddle up with, make an attractive room decoration, and respond rapidly to orders! Throw away those old battery operated toys! With me, you'll have no use for batteries. I'll make sure all your needs are sastified. Alarm Clock? No problem! Cell phone dead? Not an issue! With a unique patented deduction feature I'm capable of making sure all issues are resolved without the need for you to lift a single finger. Need a shopping partner? Sure thing! Thanks to a new breakthrough technology called Feminomina, you'll think you're shopping with a girlfriend. But not just any girlfriend--one who's got an extremely accurate insight to the male psyche. Don't like the outfit I come dressed in? Not an issue. Away it goes. I'm fully effective whether dressed or not. So hurry up! Supplies are extremely limited! Don't miss out on your chance for the one and only "Boy Toy". __________________________________________ Have you Got Flare?

I used to think Rosemount was good stuff until I came to Australia. I was quickly corrected by the locals concerning my views on Rosemount. I'm not sure if it's available in the states, but when I get back home I'm going to check to see if we get Penfolds. That's probably one of the better commercial Australian wines. But generally, any wine you can find from western Australia is going to be pretty darn good. __________________________________________ Have you Got Flare?

Definitely don't have enought time to make it to Perris or Elsinore. On a good day with no traffic, it'll take you at least an hour to get out there. Throw LA traffic in the picture and you could easily spend your 7 hours on the road. The beach, on the other hand, is not far away at all. A 5-10 minute taxi ride could have you sitting on the beach. That's probably your best option. If you head south down towards Redondo Beach there are a bunch of restaurants and bars--nice place to hang out. But Venice or Manhattan Beach are probably going to be the closest. __________________________________________ Have you Got Flare?

Well, it's been almost a full 6 weeks since I arrived here and very soon (Saturday morning) I will return back home to sunny Florida. I've thoroughly enjoyed my time here as I've had the chance to see some pretty amazing things and meet some great people. Things I got to do while here: Explore Sydney, bush walk in the Blue Mountains and around Canberra, pet some kanagroos and cuddle with a koala, explore the Jenolan Caves, walk through a tropical rain forest, white water rafting down a river which runs through a tropical rain forest (Raging Thunder does a great trip), and scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef (thanks Moonlight 2). I was also fortunate enough to get within about 3 feet of a mother kanagroo with a joey sticking his head out of her pouch. Of course I can't forget to mention the great people at Picton where I was able to do 1 jump when I first arrived in country. There's so much more I'd like to see, but I'm fortunate that I even got the opportunity to see what I did. The country is beautiful, the people are just incredibly friendly, and the food/wine is absolutely amazing. I highly recommend getting over here and spending a few weeks if you're able to--it's an experience you'll never forget! Now, after a 5 week break of not jumping if I don't throw myself out of a plane ASAP, I'm going to go completely insane!!! You better believe the DZ is the first place I'm heading Sunday morning... Cheers! __________________________________________ Have you Got Flare?

That's a great shot, a fabulous shot, I'm just awed....but I've got to know is that pic of the bum from "Post your Bum" thread really yours???!!!! It seems to me you actually had a little bit of trouble getting just the right angles, so if you're in need of an experience photographer, just call ;) __________________________________________ Have you Got Flare?

I won't go with Altel, but that's just me personally. If you want the best coverage, look at Sprint or Verizon. If you're going to be using a lot of data (hooking your phone to your computer) go with Sprint. Unless you travel internationally, there really isn't much reason to consider GSM in the states as the coverage is still in its infancy. There are some really good newsgroups that talk about this kind of stuff. If you want to know what people are saying about phones check out phonescoop.com. You can also check out howardforums.com for info on phones from all manufactures and for what people are saying about each service provider. Cheers! __________________________________________ Have you Got Flare?

Been almost a week since my last jump...
ReLLiK75 replied to ifics's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Man...Having to a wait a week....that must be tough I've havn't jumped in over 5 weeks!!!!! My last jump was at Skydive Sydney. The weather sucked (I think I fell through some ice or something) and I had to rent my gear. That one jump cost me $75!!!! I'd normally spend that much for a full weekend of jumping at my home DZ down in FL. On the bright side...at least I can say I did a skydive in Australia. But I sure am ready to get back strap on my own rig and jump like a mad man!!! __________________________________________ Have you Got Flare? -
I'm at the Seville Park Suites in Canberra. Always up for a beer! I'll try giving you a call. BTW, where is Jaspers Brush in relation to Canberra? __________________________________________ Have you Got Flare?

Well, I made it over here to Australia, and I'm finally getting over the jetlag. The weekend is approaching and I need to jump! I called up Sydey Skydivers and asked about rental gear, and they only have one rig available on a per jump basis. $65 is high for each jump so I'm wondering if there are any other DZs near Canberra that will do a daily rental on a rig? Or is there anyone planning on jumping in Sydney this weekend with an extra rig (main in the 170 range) who wants to make a few bucks by letting me rent it from you? I'll pay for the pack job when I'm done

I was not intending to start an AAD debate here. I just think it's wrong that one be required to have an AAD vs being strongly encouraged to have one. We're not required to jump from the plane, but we do and we recognize the risks involved by doing so. Like I said, I do eventually plan on getting one and recognize the value of having one ( and what's an extra thousand dollars when spending over 3K on a rig anyway?) Anyway, as my rig is not setup for an AAD, I'll have to just rent a whole setup while there. No sense in dragging that thing half way across the globe :( (how I'm going to miss it...) So what does gear rental run at the DZs there? __________________________________________ Have you Got Flare?
-
I plan on getting an AAD, but not until I get a new rig and that won't be happening for about a year, unless I come across a deal that's just too damn good to pass up--kinda like how I got my current rig (Had less than 70 jumps on the main, none on the reserve and it cost me $600). Right now, I'm not sure if I should look at a new container that's AAD ready and stick my 215 main in it, or just wait until I'm ready to downsize and go buy the whole thing in one shot... Anyway, that rule really sucks! I know AADs are there to save your life, but just being cautious, not doing anything stupid, and being aware of what's going on at all times is the best way to save your life--and the method I think people shoudl rely on. Not some mechanical device..... __________________________________________ Have you Got Flare?

I was reading through a document from the Australian Parachute Federation that states anyone who does not have at least a D license must have an AAD. How strictly is this enforced? Specifically, how strictly is this enforced at the DZ near Sydney? I've got an RSL, but no AAD and was planning on jumping while in Australia. If the DZs are strict about enforcing that requirement, I guess there's no reason to lug my rig all the way there :( __________________________________________ Have you Got Flare?

Yeah...it's not too bad a drive. And tomorrow is supposed to be a pretty nice day, so I've got to head down there and make a jump--even if it is just to test out my new suit. Anyone up for some RW??? __________________________________________ Have you Got Flare?

I'm heading to Z-hills tomorrow. I have to pick up my new tony suit and was planning on giving it a test jump!! __________________________________________ Have you Got Flare?

Thanks for all the great info. A few more questions for you though: Isn't a big Spring festival supposed to start soon? I'm not ignorant to weather patterns and realize that one day (during the time of year it is for you) it can be rather pleasant, and the next day have you wondering who turned off the heat. Should I plan on mostly cold or mostly nice (nice meaning no colder than 58)? How much are flights within the country? I'm not opposed to driving and plan on doing quite a bit of it my last week there since I'm taking some vacation time, but I'd really hate to spend all my time driving and not seeing anything. How is a drive up the cost, starting in Sydney and ending at the Barrier Reef? That is a drive I was definitely considering. I'm also definitely planning on taking a weekend and making that 3 hour drive to Sydney to jump there. One thing I noticed on some of the tourist websites is Ballooning seems to be popular. Is there anyone who will let you jump their balloon for a reasonable price? Is there anything you can recommend that's something I just have to do--something I'd kick myself for not doing while in country? Granted, I realize that depends on a few things, like time and money, but I do have a month there so I want to make the most of it! I'm heading to Australia this weekend for a month (courtesy of the company I work for). While I was there, in addition to work, beer, babes, more beer, a little bit more work, and sightseeing, I was planning on doing some jumping. I'm wondering if anyone can share their experiences with dropzones around the Sydney/Canberra area. I'll specifically and initially be in Canberra, so let's start there. Which DZs are good? How are the prices, equipment, facilities, etc? Who can I talk into letting me jump from a baloon? Any info like that would be great. I did a search in the DZ section for Australia, but I have no clue where half those places are, so I figured I'd ask here.... __________________________________________ Have you Got Flare?

That rollercoaster feeling ...
ReLLiK75 replied to canopycandy's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Go do a Helicopter jump. You'll definitely get that feeling. I did my first Helicopter jump (I know--beer) on Friday. Crosskeys was selling heli jump tickets for the price of a normal jump ticket so I just couldn't pass that one up. Anyway, all I have to say is it was the cooling thing I've done so far. I was completely surprised to get that feeling, but it sure was there. That "Oh my god I'm falling feeling"....But was a rush!!! __________________________________________ Have you Got Flare? -
Just do a search for "skydive naked". A website will come up that has picks of a real mile high club taking place. __________________________________________ Have you Got Flare?

I was just down there on Tuesday. I was going to have an original Tony Suit altered to put some booties on and add a little more wing, but ended up getting measured for a brand new Swoop Suit. Can't wait to get it and fly it! __________________________________________ Have you Got Flare?

I bought a used rig with a Prestige container. It came as an ROL, but I had it converted over to a BOC for about $50. So far (and I've only got about 5 jumps on it) I'm very happy with it. It's housing a Falcon 215, which for me has plenty of performance right now. I'd say that if you can get it at a good price and it's in good condition, go for it. I can tell you that my Prestige container uses a dual pin reserve system, has velcro riser covers, and the main bag has a velcro strip down the center (which is supposed to make getting the chute into the bag easier--I guess). Not sure if these "features" are standard for all Prestige containers, but just thought I'd tell you what's on mine. Hope that helps! I'm sitting in the airport right now and had to go through the "special security screening" line. I made the comment that it's a good thing I wasn't carrying my rig with me and the screener replied that I would have had to have a discussion with the local law enforcement had I tried to carry a parachute onto my flight because it is now against FAA regulations. Has anyone heard of anything like this or had any problems carrying a rig onboard a flight? Once I get my A license I plan on traveling quite a bit with my rig if I know I'm going to be near a DZ, but I don't want to have to check the thing everytime I fly. __________________________________________ Have you Got Flare?
