QuoteName me another sport that requires a car/airplane to do at the Olympics. This is the essence folks. Money and audience-value are just as debatable within most of the other sports. But using some kind of motorized vehicle to perform your sport just isn't in accordance with the olympic spirit. No shit, this is actually the argument IOC uses against skydiving and different kind of motorsports (rally etc.).

I overlooked the NSFW you put at the very bottom and opened it at work. I'm a foreigner so fill me in. What does NSFW mean?

Order the boogie-DVD. There were some shots of Jussi diving down with camera-in-hand on some of the evening videos. He might appear in the final Boogie-compilation.

Read this one over a urinal in a chinese resturant: "We aim to please. You aim to, please!"

Basically: "The person that gave you this number doesn't want to talk to you". Anyone outside the US: add +1 to the number and Bob's your uncle! I did it from Norway.

I ordered a stock XF2 119 last spring thorugh Sqaure1 and specified that it was to be shipped to Deland (it was to be picked upo there and brought back to Europe). The schmuck (lucky you that I don't remember your name, wanker!) at the Chicago office f##### it all up and sent the canopy to california, and therefore my guy in Deland had to leave the states without my XF2. The Chicago-moron didn't sound like this mistake bothered him at all, and wasn't really interested in fixing the problem. Kate at Square1 helped me by contacting Simon and explain the whole mess. Simon called me within a few hours and offered express air mail directly to europe, or if I rather wanted to, they could make me a brand new custom colored CF2 at the Spain plant and have it ready within three weeks. At the end of the month I had my brand new white and blue Crossfire2 delivered at my door! So: Simon prooved to be a good guy- that wanker in Chicago, however... How do guys like that get jobs!?

didn't work with RealPlayer. Other suggestions?

I was wondering if anyone else has seen anything like this and if so where. Ever been to Deland? Or Dallas for that matter..? civilian airplanes, but nevertheless I've seen some nasty footage of skydivers tracking into the take off pattern after break off... In Dallas you can once in a while see air liners below you as you exit... Oh! And two years ago, on my home DZ i norway: We had an F-16 _directly_ over our pit in app. 1500' (yup thats right; fifteen HUNDRED not thousand!) Why do I know the exact altitude? Well, because one of our static-line students could see the whole thing from the air... Military arrogance..? Seen that...

So after 3 years of being slammed whenever the canopy felt like slamming me I gave up. I'm now the proud owner of a Crossfire2 119! Hear Hear! I did the same thing last year! Got rid of my ST-135 and got me a XF2 119. No regrets, whatsoever! You've got some excellent openings comin' your way!! Enjoy!!

Are you guys flying backwards? These tabs are mounted to the backside of the risers and will not hold the slider down. However: If they were mounted on the frontside, the slider would be forced against them due to the headwind, and thus be held down by them They are magic in the sense that they keep the slider from getting in your way Beans not included. Check 'em out below,

X-Fire2 front riser pressure
PD126r replied to kansasskydiver's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
My XF2 119 at 1.93 has long S-lines too. From full flight I have to pull the toggles down to about shoulder height before the tail is affected. But I wouldn't want them any shorter, cuz I just about avoid pulling the tail with me in deep frontriser inputs. Regarding pressure: I've never had any problems with this on my XF2. best canopy I've ever had. -
As it has been mentioned: The rigger who grounded the reserve probably did this out of good will. Remember it's supposed to be a life-saver... I don't really see the problem here: If one DZ's rigger wants to ground it today, every rigger will also follow in on the decision not long from now (given the first wasn't a blind half-brainer...). So the res. will have to go soon anyway. Tell your BF to hold the jumping for some time; this will save some of the money he needs for a new canopy. Or maybe you can chip in..? ;)

Don't go for a combo Do go for inside grippers (and Booties!). I'm not a hardcore RW-jumper, but I tend to use inside grippers quite often.

IMHO rubber bands might be a considerable contributor to line twist. But what's left out in this thread is the importance of symmetric stowing. You need equal amounts of stows on both sides of the bag in order to get the bag bouncing back _and_ forth equal amount of times before line strech. More bands on one side, and the bag ends up off-heading when the canopy goes out of the bag; the lines will already be crossed, and the line twist can begin... BTW: _How_ can a small PC contribute to line twist? Not enough speed/stability compared to a larger one? Anyone??

Any idea why I was spiraling like that?
PD126r replied to jerry81's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
QuoteI know it doesn't make sense Derek but i tried it time and time again! Like i said though only when the brakes were set. Could your brakelines be out of trim? If you over time neglect to remove the twist, it might settle in the line(s). And if you lay your canopy down to the same side on every jump the twist will settle more on one side than the other. I guess this is a pretty far fetched idea, I'm just throwing in whatever I've got here. -
Velocity's slider and RWS Risers
PD126r replied to cheneyneel's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I agree with webracer. I have the same problem with my RWS Trulock Risers / Crossfire2 , wich also has rather small grommets. But the only difference from bigger grommets is that instead of yanking the slider down while collapsing it, I collaps it first, then ease it over the risers while still on the look-out for traffic. No sweat, really. -
Export from Windows XP Preimere 6.5/7.0 to DVtape?
PD126r replied to PD126r's topic in Photography and Video
QuoteHalvor, you will need to tell us (just for starters)... Whoa! This seems to be a whole lot more complicated than I first thought.. Let's see.. Specs.. It's a HP with a 668MHz intel processor and 256Mb RAM. It has a 20Gb disc, partitioned in 2 (10Gb each). I run a Windows XP, with SP1. Cameras: I have two: Sony DCR-PC9E and DCR-TRV900E, both PAL I think the firewirecard is a Quantum Fireball and capture works OK. Thanx guys! I really appreciate this! -
Export from Windows XP Preimere 6.5/7.0 to DVtape?
PD126r replied to PD126r's topic in Photography and Video
My pc can't export footage from premiere back to my DV-camera. The camera starts rolling, but nothing else happens. Also, it takes forever (hours) to render a tandemvideo w/music. Is this normal? Can anyone help me out here? -
I think it's a good idea to have the ability to attach the wings yourself, for perfect fit. The problem with Merlin Suits is that they don't give you any pointers whatsoever as to get the job done right. Maybe it all is just a walk in the park, but for an average guy (i.e. one who doesn't spend any time in front of a sewing machine), this actually might go wrong... So when Merlin suits #1: don't send along any instructions, and#2: do not respond to any enquiry(mail etc.) on the topic, the idea of a not-finished-suit kind'a falls through...
-
Just recieved my new Merlin camerasuit. The suit is delivered with the lower attachments (both the sandwich velcro and the clip at the end) loose, for myself to do the correct positioning so it won't come in conflict with the harness. Does anybody have any suggestions on positioning? Should I measure with the rig on standing up (so it will fit i freefall), or should I consider the harness position under canopy? Any other aspects to take into consideration?

Didn't have time to look, but I think I read something about this on the producers web-site: http://www.skytools.m.se/index.htm

Haven't really tried anything else, but in my opinion the Optik is a very stable helmet, which provides nice, steady shots in adition to not snapping your neck on rough openings. Also a big pluss is that the "bake-to-fit"-option

In around 80 wingsuit jumps I used my LQRS for the first time last weekend. It coincided with my first opening with line twists on my wingsuit. I had a serious linetwist this weekend on a GTI. I cut the arms but still couldn't kick out the twist because of the legwing. So if I buy a suit; LQRS. NO doubt!
