  1. I think that's part of being in the world. England fought for France, and in Africa, and Canada fought in the Battle of Britain, and a whole lot of other countries also fought in and lost soldiers in wars. The only thing that makes us "special" (well, that and that we're us) is that we're several thousand miles away from Europe; but Japan attacked us, and they were allied with Germany in WW2. Many countries have shed blood for other countries. And the US is, most emphatically, among them. But it's not a contest to see who is first among them. Wendy W. Don't forget that Hitler declared war on the USA, not the other way around. Three times is enemy action
  2. Is the US constitution the right document to apply to our dealings with other countries? That's why we have treaties and trade agreements. The UN charter isn't law, it's an agreement. And we should honor our agreements, or work to change them. Breaching one is serious. Wendy W. It is a treaty to which the US is a party. Hence according to the Constitution it is the law, as are the Geneva Conventions. Three times is enemy action
  3. And: Article VI Clause 2: This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding. Which is what makes the UN Charter the "supreme Law of the Land" Three times is enemy action
  4. This is incorrect (or at best a half-truth)- another Internet hoax. The full and correct transcript is available at the World Economic Forum web site. http://www.weforum.org/site/homepublic.nsf/Content/Remarks+from+Colin+Powell,+US+Secretary+of+State Three times is enemy action
