  2. Well I just called the guy and told him that I would take the apartment...so I guess I'll see, hopefully it'll turn out fine
  3. Well the job is down the shore, but I'm not changing dropzones I like Cross Keys too much. alyson team swooo swooo #2
  4. That's what I'm driving now, if I take this place it will be slightly closer...about a 40 minute drive instead...at least it saves 40 minutes a day in driving, and about 40 miles too... alyson team swooo swooo #2
  5. I probably won't be spending all that much time in my apartment. With work and the DZ being so close, I'll probably be out most of the time. I know that I should take it, I can't figure out why I'm stalling. I have until tomorrow night to tell the guy if I want it or not. I think that I'm having this issue because this happened pretty quickly. I wasn't planning on moving out for a few more months, and all the sudden this place turns up and now I can have my own place in a little more than two weeks... alyson team swooo swooo #2
  6. No, seriously, I really have no clue what to do and I have to call the guy back tonight. The whole thing is that there's really not much to pick from down there. I don't want to move down the shore which is right by work, but i need to be a bit closer than I am now...the hour commute each way is getting old. And I'm still not totally sold on the place... alyson team swooo swooo #2
  7. Did I forget to mention that it's only 5 minutes from the dropzone? I have to add that as a plus too. alyson team swooo swooo #2
  8. So, I just found out that I got this apartment that I had applied for. I have mixed feelings though. It's just really not what I had in mind for my first (yes i know, beer...) apartment. It's in the area I wanted to move to, has a washer/dryer (which is a huge plus), a fire place (which is always nice), and a fitness center (another plus). The only thing is that it's pretty small. My question is how many of you moved into a place you weren't thrilled about but it turned out fine in the end? Thanks! alyson team swooo swooo #2
  9. 1) 9/11 - This was my day to sleep in late, I was in my senior year of college. I was lying in bed annoyed that my roommates were talking so loud, when I heard my roommate say "holy shit" a few times, I decided to get up to see what was going on. Spent a lot of time watching TV that day. I did have to go to campus for a meeting though and remember looking out towards NYC and seeing all the smoke (NYC is about 10 miles from where I went to school). 2) Princess Di - I was in Germany on an exchange the summer before my senior year of high school. I walked into the kitchen that morning and the family I was staying with was talking about someone being dead. It was the only question (and the only time that I spoke German for a whole conversation while I was there) that I asked in German, who was dead, and that's how I found out. 3) Columbine - I was in my freshman year of college and was at class when it happened, I didn't find out until I walked into my next door neighbors to say hi and they told me. 4) Challenger - I was really young, I think maybe 5 or 6, I don't remember if I heard it on the radio or on the news, but I remember hearing about it. 5) Columbia - I was sitting eating breakfast at my house and heard it on the radio. alyson team swooo swooo #2
  10. Cross Keys is not *too* far from Wildwood...ok, it's about 2 hours I guess, it's not too bad for a day of driving...could this maybe work out for those of us who can't jump on the beach but want to jump? You could jump at Cross Keys and be close enough to hang out at the PST in Wildwood...that's what I was planning on. Cross Keys has an ok size landing area and some outs...I'm used to the landing area as Cross Keys is my home DZ...so I'm not sure how it really compares for landing areas to other DZ's. Just a suggestion is all. alyson team swooo swooo #2

  17. We told everyone that they would be able to jump that afternoon...it just had to wait until we left before it cleared up alyson team swooo swooo #2
  18. Even though the weather wasn't the best, I had such a kick ass weekend
  19. I'll be there. I'm heading down tomorrow afternoon (well that's what time I'll actually get there at) and I'll be there until Monday afternoon. My sister's also going. I'm taking a break from packing right now...I like trying to fit a tent, a sleeping bag and an air mattress into a suitcase...it's fun alyson team swooo swooo #2
  20. My sister is the one who got me into jumping. We just don't jump together often. My dad has done a tandem and an AFF Level 1 jump, though that is all he'll do. One of my brothers has already done a tandem, and the youngest who turns 18 in March is just waiting for his birthday to do his tandem. My mom however, refuses...at least we can get her to come out to the DZ every now and then. alyson team swooo swooo #2
  21. We usually get around 4500 feet with the helicopter at X-Keys (that's for the normal ticket price...as phillykev said, $25). It's tons of fun, so jump it if you can
  22. Two of my favorite poems by Robert Frost: Rose Pogonias A Saturated meadow, Sun-shaped and jewel-small, A circle scarcely wider Than the trees around were tall; Where winds were quite excluded, And the air was stifling sweet With the breath of many flowers,-- A temple of the heat. There we bowed us in the burning, As the sun's right worship is, To pick where none could miss them A thousand orchises; For though the grass was scattered, Yet every second spear Seemed tipped with wings of color, That tinged the atmosphere. We raised a simple prayer Before we left the spot, That in the general mowing That place might be forgot; Or if not all so favored, Obtain such grace of hours, That none should mow the grass there While so confused with flowers. A Peck of Gold DUST always blowing about the town, Except when sea-fog laid it down, And I was one of the children told Some of the blowing dust was gold. All the dust the wind blew high Appeared like gold in the sunset sky, But I was one of the children told Some of the dust was really gold. Such was life in the Golden Gate: Gold dusted all we drank and ate, And I was one of the children told, 'We all must eat our peck of gold'. alyson team swooo swooo #2
