  1. inside engine? that's where the oil is supposed to be.. I assume you mean oil is all over outside of the engine. replace cap on corectly and take it to a car wash and wash motor off... check the oil level add if needed. yea couldn't hurt to change oil. if your car has 100K miles I wouldn't worry about it, but if you got newer car and plan to keep it awhile. change oil. do it yourself. it's not hard. yea, can be a bit messy. depending on type car you might need to invest in a pair of car ramps and of course oil drain pan. I know lot of people who've had their cars ruined by fast oil change place they strip oil drain plugs, over tighten them etc.
  2. The newer diesel technology appearing over here is CommonRail Diesel injection - similar to the petrol fuel injection system whereby the fuel is taken from a pressurised fuel rail and the injectors just act as a metering system. This is much more efficient and does away with the black exhaust clouds that were common under acceleration. Also the newer diesels are relatively quiet. the new 2004 / 2005 VW TDI's diesel are not common rail, but rather "pump duse" which means each cylinder has its own high presser injector and pump. its made by bosch which also makes te common rail set up. I'm pleased with my 2005 TDi I fill it up about every 3.5 weeks nice
  3. that's because you never gave me your phone number....

  6. I got a 2005 VW Jetta TDI Diesel 5 speed. you can't get them in California, but they burn cleaner than most cars do now.. and I consently avg 48 mpg to / from work (all highway)
  7. Oh yea.. did you know that each Trent Engine on the 777 burns ONE GALLON of fuel per second at takeoff thrust? no wonder fuel cost are killing airlines today..
  8. To give you an idea of the size of a Rolls-Royce Trent 800 series engine.. Here it’s compared to fuselage of a Boeing 757
  9. here's the Rolls-Royce Trent 800 on AA 777
  10. The engine that goes with it is a RR tent600, no the Rolls-Royce Trent 800 are on the 777 I'm not sure whats on the A380 but it diffently not a RR trent 600

  20. true, but the ones from Brazil, have the upright bug very under powered bug engine in them, where the later bay windows have the strong flat type 4 engine in them..
  21. the eurovan pop top doesn't go up as high as the bay window aircooled or vanagon Westfalia models. you get lot more head room in these pop tops.
  22. mar, they don't make full camper versions any more. the new VW eurovan MV come with pop top, fold down bed . but they are pricy $31K and up. The best year Vanagon Westfalia Campers were the 1986 to 1991 model years. the Eurovan's 1992 to 94/95 are inline Audi 5 cylinders and hard to find. these had lot problems I heard..The 96 to 99 are VR-6- V-6 engines, The VR6 engines are very good. and these too are bit pricy around $25K These were Winnibago convesions and given temp in Colo you might like these as the have LP furnaces in them too for winter use. If you buy a Vanagon Westfalia expect to pay betwen 8K to 14K (later models are more pricy) but I'd get a new rebuilt engine for it ($2000.00) if I were you.. and have cooling system hoses replaced (500 for hoses alone) the cooling system looks like VW designers were on drugs when designed.. so many hoses! and if you break one while traveling good luck as it'll take you 3 to 5 ays get another the auto parts stores won't have them. I replaced all my hoses last year and kept old ones for emergency spares. my 90 horse power 2.1 liter engine has 160K miles on it never rebuilt. no problems either... but I'm hoping to do engine swap to 230 HP Subie a SVX motor in 2 years or so.. good sorces to find these campers are. www.thesamba.com and www.westfalia.org on the 1984 to 1991 vanagon Westfalia camper with the 1.9 or 2.1L engines these tend to have head gasket problems. mine has 160K and no problems. Mike

  24. I'll be there.. been to all been to 1984-85 freak brothers, all the Quincy conventions Quicy WFFC and all rantoual.. but I'm starting to feel the WFFC isn't as good as it used to be. no 412 and jet...and showers suck. those portable fire fighting showers were better.. Mike
