How about if your an emplyer and getting ready to hire a non-american. What rights do you have to ask from either a green card or work visa or whatever? Moved from the north to south and can vouch for this first hand. As soon as co-workers (most of who are from the south) found out I was from the midwest. The harassment started. Some of it is funny and harmless, some is just flat out hostile and insulting. But if it makes them feel better more power to them. They ever call my fiance a yankee but I guess they missed history because last time I looked Colorado wasnt in that deal. Promotions were a little hard to come by but I made it. SOunds like a good idea. But think about it for a while. The money to get your license, $ for a plane. then the behind the scene cost of maintnance adds up fast. Then you have the days when you cant fly be it thunderstorms or if you get a plane without anit-ice capabilities winter. I think you might be better off just moving closer to work. Just my .02 worth. I was thinking the same thing. I like going to this nice cigar bar with a kick ass lounge, and big wine cellar. You get a bottle of wine, nice smoke and sit my but on a big fat leather couch and enjoy the nice jazz. The place is packed everynight, but what would happen if the city passed a smoking bar. He would go under. You know what your going into when you go through the door. If you dont want to smeel smoke dont go in. I have been a hunter for most of my life. Anything from from small game to larger game such as moose. I only have 2 trophy's on my wall but those mounts also put a lot of meat in my freezer. With the moose I can have a cookout and feed all my friends. About 70 showed up for that and I still had meat to feed more. The people who go to kill just for fun and leave it i do not like. It's a shame to. I'm sure there are enough people out there to support 2 DZ's. Hell when I was in Hawaii we had 3 DZ's all next door to each other. The owners didnt get along. But I could set up my gear jump SDH king air, land pack and go to PISC with no problem. I dont see what the entire big deal is with these 2 places. Someone wants to build a business near someone elses back yard and they are afraid they might take some business away. Thats the way I see it. So instead of making your place better than the other you try everything bad with your comp and exploit it whether it's true or not. Smear tactics sometimes backfire by driving people away who dont want to deal with the BS. Look at Chicago. There used to be 3 DZ's in the area with SDC, Chicagoland and The place in Morris and I dont ever recall the problems ever with those guys that the KC area is having. Each DZ just tried to beat each other in competition. Either scrambles, 10 way iron man, swoop comp's or something to get people coming to your place and then returning because they had a good time. I have said enough and will go away. Please take everything I said with a grain of salt. I may be completely wrong about the entire subject. Wouldnt be the first time. Job searching sucks. I was just hitting to job trail here when things were not looking so good where I work. Lucky for me there are tons of jobs in my field. Some would involve me traveling a lot but it would have been better than sitting on my ass with no work and no money. Just keep your chin up and keep digging and you will find something. It took me 8 months of interviews, background check and what not before I got hired here but I love it and it was well worth it in the long run.
