  1. Yeah, with Jamie Baker doing color.
  2. "Byranada" must be sung, not shouted. You could just shout "bytch!" until I come running over to show you the way...
  3. If you don't want a fly, that might work. If you do want a fly, a pattern for basic cargo type pants will probably work; if you use something like that be sure to add a few inches to the inseam to allow for blousing at the ankle and to attach whatever closure you intend to use on the legs (ie elastic, velcro wrap, stirrup, etc).
  4. Not counting the time it took to fly it from NZ to the US, of course. Nice paint job, btw. By far? Dunno about that. I jumped CSC's Otter a few months ago. It's nice and does appear to be well maintained, but I'd put the cleanliness and level of maintenance of the aircraft at Eloy, Perris and Davis on the same level.
  5. Yup. Very disappointed. I expected Joe's line to get shut down but was hoping for more scoring opportunities from the other lines. Didja notice how McLellan started mixing up the lines in the third? That's why Joe could start doing something, the shuffling around meant that he wasn't up against the Ducks top D on a few shifts. At least, that's what the radio color guy said.
  6. Good luck finding a rigger who will repack your reserve with a 14 year old Cypres in it. If you are your own rigger, you should know better.
  7. If you showed up at the dz I jump at, you'd probably have to sit through the first jump course and then do a modified Cat D jump (one jumpmaster, linked exit). Assuming that you performed up to standard on that jump, we'd probably cut you loose to self-supervise. But that's just the dz I jump at. You'll get more relevant information if you contact a dz near you and ask them exactly what you'd need to do to get current and progress toward your license.
  8. Best thing about that joke is it only happens to you once. After that, it's funny as hell.
  9. My gawd! 1972?!??!! You must be OLD! Just to show everyone what a complete hockey whuffo I am, even after three years of trying to learn the game - Last night I was checking out NHL.com because for some strange reason I thought the playoffs started yesterday. Looking at the spot where they had game scores during the regular season, I saw Columbus 7 Detroit 2. I was stoked! Until the s/o reminded me that the playoffs don't start until today, Detroit and Columbus don't play until tomorrow, and the numbers are where they are seeded, not the score of a game...
  10. Wingie's duck joke is way funnier.
  11. Ths Sharks are gonna have their hands full with the Ducks too. I predict multiple instances of fisticuffs!
  12. They didn't need to. So why bother?
  13. Don't buy anything right now. The DZ will provide everything you need for your student jumps.
  14. He has a point. They changed more than the name and responsibilities. Under the "old" system, you had to have the JM rating for at least a year before you could get the I - didn't matter how many jumps you had. Under the "new" system, you can get your coach rating and do a tandem or AFF cert course the next day (assuming that you have met the requirements for tandem or AFF). Not much in the way of apprenticeship going on with the people who go that route, is there?
  15. Sure it does. If what you or she is looking for includes lots of drama and game playing. OTOH, if you prefer your relationships drama free, you could just continue to be who you are and trust that there's at least one equally awesome female out there who can appreciate you. Sure would suck to be cocky and arrogant and then watch the person that could have been your partner in the last and best relationship you'll ever have turn around and walk away...
  16. The people I'm following tend to tweet things other than "taking the dog for a walk" or "drinking coffee." So far I've found it to be very useful as a news feed (both for local and national news), as a "check out this weird shit on the interweb" feed, and as a place to get a few laughs. Kinda like Bonfire used to be, back when it was Talkback, but even better cuz I get to pick which people's noise I hear and I can stop following them if they become bothersome or boring.
  17. Sure you are. The majority of dz's in the world get far more than 10 weekends per year with winds of less than 20 mph. So for the majority of skydivers out there, if conditions are sketchy this weekend it's very likely that the weather will be far more cooperative next weekend. If you say so. My experience at the 20-ish dz's throughout the U.S. that I've jumped at over the past almost 20 years has shown me differently.
  18. Hopefully not to the same rigger who packed it last time... and hopefully you mentioned this to the rigger who is packing it now...
  19. You are confusing women with girls. The difference between the two has very little to do with physical age.
  20. My view on skydiving is one that encourages longevity in the sport without having titanium implanted in one's body, not piling up jump numbers as fast as one possibly can. One key to longevity in the sport is reducing the risk factors on every skydive you make. Sometimes and in some places, that may mean spending more time at the dz on the ground than in the air. Jumping in higher winds ups the amount of risk that a jumper is taking, regardless of where that person is jumping, how many jumps they have or how good their training was. There are good reasons we don't take AFF students up in 25 mph winds. Those reasons don't go away when the student gets a license, and yet some people will encourage the newbie to stop being such a pussy and go jump. I think it's a far better thing to encourage the newbie to stand in the landing area and watch the carnage instead of being a part of it. Uninjured newbies tend to come back when the conditions are good. Injured newbies generally don't. Another issue is travel. If a jumper never leaves their home dz that is located in a windy area, they may be fine with a smaller canopy that allows them to penetrate 25 mph winds. But what happens when they take that canopy to Eloy in July? There is not now and there will never be a skydive so important that it can't be postponed until conditions are better. Yes, being grounded by wind day after day sucks... but getting hurt or dying sucks far more.
  21. Sorry, no Easter Bunny here. We only have the Governator. If the weather isn't crap, I plan to jump a few times and then drink large amounts of alcohol. If the weather is crap, I plan to drink large amounts of alcohol. After 6 weeks of abstaining from alcohol, Monday should be interesting.
