I think this is the best thing that has happened. I wish we had this when I was a kid. This is a great way to educate and teach the young ones on how to become the great skydivers of the future but its also a new sport for kids. Not only playing basketball, soccer, etc. but now flying, WOW!!! I know it would be an expensive sport to pay for, but.... Anything for the Kids!!! More kids should be introduce into tunnel flying. One thing that should stay the same is the minimum age required for skydiving. Having experience flying does not means you are ready to jump out of a plane. I have two singer 20u and they are exelent machines. Ive never used them in container work but Ive done some thick sewing and it worked OK. Had to go slow but got it. I used them just for zigzag. Wow I cant believe this. My wife was just surfing thru My Space.com and she sees this guy's page and calls me cause the pic looked just like me over six or seven years ago but with a different face. Gues what. He had the balls to erace the tandem passenger and put his face to my body and wrote on the photo caption that it is him skydiving in Puerto Rico, WHATA LOOSER! Its to much of a coincidence to have my old custom made purple freefly pants, my adidas and an old vector tandem I used to jump. Sometimes you just know when its you. right? I just cant believe people will go thru cloning and erasing just to say the have jumped out of an airplane. Since I don't remember his face I cant tell you that he made mis tandem with me, so maybe thats even a friends pic and he is saying it was him. Aint this funny. Quoteheaddown started in the tunnel, I actually don't remember the exact year when we started seeing head down flying but in 1992 I worked with John Suiter at an old DC3 prop tunnell here in Puerto Rico and he could fly on his back and head preety well, he could do a lot of cool shit only using his Tshirt kinda like a boat sail to give him lift. Dont want to mention what he could do with those huge ballon suits. He could fly nice and he could go high as hell. wow.... I also went there in april while visiting my friend at The Farm. Is amazing what they did with those bodies. I almost took a bite out of one, It looked like a huge beef jerky... Dont know how much he got paid but I can tell you I once did a Degree commercial for extreme athlets and they wanted me to BASE jump but there is no safe place here to BASE jump and/or to film a commercial like that so I ended up doing a pendulum jump from a bridge and I got $5,000 for making 7 jumps of a bridge in a few hours. This was for local TV, and some places in US like hispanic market. No better way to get paid than doing something you like. I think there are a few good reasons why people are wearing less fabric these days. Weight: of the skydiver is one of the reasons, cause there are a lot of skinny guys out there that need a bit less drag to keep the fall rate with the heavier ones. Fashion: Evolution of skydiving has made us jumpers look for something more fashionable. Now is not just about jumping from a plane. You also wanna look nice up there and this days less fabric looks nicer than baggy. In my opinion. So many people might have though about this that the have started getting a bit tighter suits. Im shure that fall speed has also changed a bit with this, but... if we all go with less drag fall rate will be the same. Not the speed, the rate. Suit Material: There are a few diff. materias out there. some are used for heavier guys the only thing I dont like about some thick materials is that most are cotton and cotton fades faster than nylon. For me the best material overall for FF suits is Supplex or Taslon. Taslon is light, strong, it breaths pretty good. Keeps odors out the door and dries preety quick. I might be crazy in this one but.... Example Im 160lbs, my wife is 120lbs I always had problems flying with her cause she falls slow and I fall pretty reasonable.. On the fast side. Now Im wearing less drag but.... I have mesh inside my Taslon suit. Since my suit is thicker cause of the double layer fabric, the flopping of the fabric is much slower, this creates more drag and my fall rate changed enough to have a better fall rate to keep up with my wife with out struggling I dont know much about this, but I felt it since the first jump. If you think im wrong, just go Baggy. and forget all I said. Just giving my opinion on this one, some people are just too heavy or big for this OK. Ive tried a few things to try and rescue my files, but nothing has worked.
