  1. Nice job Koppel! You are a rockstar brother! If you are opening in the 3k range and the aad is set for 2k you really dont have any room at all for slow openings or anything else at that matter! 2 out doesnt make the dzo any money. Injuries to staff dont make any money and injuries to students dont make any money and is completely shit for business! You rock!!
  2. The results so far are pretty interesting. The reason behind this is that I work at a few different DZs and have discovered that peoples perceptions of what is acceptable changes greatly between each. Sitting in the plane with my student and the an Instructor wanting to throw a IAD student out at 3.5k was a shock. They now go higher because I dont want any problems i.e pilot chute over tail etc at 3.5 and it all go to shit! So thankyou to them! I also heard from a friend of mine that he witnessed a dz doing tandems from 4k with the aad turned off because of bad weather! Because I havent seen it with my own eyes I wont go any further with the details. I believe that low tandems are robbing the student of the experience they are wanting/expecting! We should take pride in promoting the sport through tandems and give our paying customers the real deal when it comes to their first experience of this great sport
  3. Your Dad rocks!! Horse racing rocks, I think those horses love to run and love racing each other. Its nice to see someone respect the animals that provide such a huge industry.
  4. I love my Atom. Its old but still looks good and is really comfortable. I am 5'11 and it was built for someone 6'4+ and I put around 500 jumps on it like that. I then had the harness shortened and I love it even more now.
  5. dzo wanting to make money on a crapped out day
  6. Hi Folks, Whats your minimums and why? I have had an interesting summer and am wondering others thoughts.
  7. Found myself no worries....awesome!
  8. Hi Chris, I didnt see you as the assh?le, infact I didnt see any assh?les on this thread or whatever you call it. I find that I always get a whole bunch of strange tangents going off in all directions in these forums. I watch and laugh and pick what I can from them. Remember one thing...we are all skydivers and brothers and sisters because of that.
  9. Is yours a bungee pilot chute?
  10. My wife is 5'5 and packs SET 400 over her shoulder quicker than anyone on a hook and has great openings! Persevere and get some intruction
  11. Ive done 10 from a cessna and I slept pretty good after that day, infact I didnt even finish my beer!
  12. This was on dz.com classifieds but got the scam sticker on it. Main looks tiny compared to reserve??
  13. sounds good that its hanging up for a second or 2 otherwise it would be a total slammer!!
  14. I whole heartidly agree with rigger rob. This person has purchasred a cypress and wants to get their moneys worth. Not 2 months or so short. Pack the reserve, state to the owner and on the card and on the dz(or personal)paperwork that it needs aad batteries and aad replacement on the specific date. HERE IS ANOTHER QUESTION, JUST FOR MY OWN AMUSEMENT.... How many riggers out there have an out of date aad in thier own rig? I would repack the reserve and put an expiry date on it when the batteries are due just to cover my ass. I cant wait to hear what you all say! Quinny
  15. My limits are 20 kts.....I have been backwards a couple of times watching the dz go away from me, dodging round hay bails all over the place. I do this as a fulltime job and getting injured is not good for business. There is always later and tommorow
  16. Thank you for post it will be intersting to see what the rules are about this kind of situation. Quinny
  17. You seem so certain of what you are saying BigGun. Why?? Im sure this thread is in gear and rigging..?
  18. Thankyou Rob. Thats all I needed. For everyone else, listen to experience.
  19. Oh yeah...did someone have a Spectre 135 for sale at your dropzone???
  20. Hey Chris-Ottowa, You have heard some really interesting points of view. Only you and your friends around you can chat and decipher that. I transitioned from a pd 190 at approx 400ft above sea level to a stiletto 135 3500ft above sea level. I learned pretty quickly how to fly that thing. However 700+ jumps later I am still jumping that canopy and enjoying it. My after thoughts are I should have listened to more people and transitioned down slower. But you are you. I hope you enjoy your next couple of seasons dude and I might see you next summer on my tour of Canada! Be safe and think clearly Quinny
  21. I have been working in a lot of dzs lately, some better than others!I have seen so many techniques and so many arguments its unreal!!! I put it to two of my most trusted friends, Rigger Rob and Wierd Wayne(dont know his dz.com name)to put thier 2 cents in regarding double stows. I know that all of the busy full time dzs I have worked at they double stow. All of the not busy dzs I have worked at they do ........a variety of strange things Anyway, I have double stowed approx 6000 student mantas and skymasters(single stow 1st two and double stow all others. On my stiletto I single stow 1st two and double everything else. So far no dramas!! Rob and Wierd Wayne what do you think???
  22. I also have dispatched thousands of s/l students and I would not want to s/l a stilleto!!! From a 206 line twist are common if not probable. Therefore I agree with SkymonkeyONE......Stilleto is not a student canopy Quinny
