  1. After it heals up, and you think you might end up with a scar, buy a box of silicone scar sheets and use those. You can get them at a decent pharmacy. http://www.polysporinscar.ca/english/home/default.asp?s=1 ------------------------------------------------------- Windwalker Whatever doesn't kill me, just makes me cry.
  2. Make sure that someone gets that on video... ------------------------------------------------------- Windwalker Whatever doesn't kill me, just makes me cry.
  3. Here's a getting started guide. http://parkour.net/modules/wiki/index.php?page=how+to+start ------------------------------------------------------- Windwalker Whatever doesn't kill me, just makes me cry.
  4. Dude. Think about it. You jump out of airplanes for fun. Who you callin crazy? ------------------------------------------------------- Windwalker Whatever doesn't kill me, just makes me cry.
  5. Yes. Thanks. Le Parkour. That's what I'm interested in. This is a video of what I was talking about: http://www.parkour-videos.com/videos/daniel-ilabaca-trip-to-london-may-2006 ------------------------------------------------------- Windwalker Whatever doesn't kill me, just makes me cry.
  6. No. It doesn't involve the use of a parachute or any other type of deceleration device. No bungy chords no crash pads, just a good pair of running shoes. ------------------------------------------------------- Windwalker Whatever doesn't kill me, just makes me cry.
  7. I just saw a little news piece about a new sporting discipline, but didn't quite catch what it was called. It's called parcoor or something like that. It involves climbing up things and then jumping off. Some of the jumping was pretty impressive. Jumping off of some fairly high objects onto concrete and then walking away... It seems like people have figured out how to train for this and do it relatively safely. Does anyone know something about this? ------------------------------------------------------- Windwalker Whatever doesn't kill me, just makes me cry.
  8. No, no, no, George Bush is the Anti-Christ! Well, at least I think he might be. Actually, I've got it narrowed down to Bush, George Soros, Shrek, or Emerill from the Food Network. Within two years, I will have this field narrowed down to the actual Anti-Christ, and will let you know. What about Jerry Springer? ------------------------------------------------------- Windwalker Whatever doesn't kill me, just makes me cry.
  9. Canadians think that Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone in 1874, at his parent's residence just outside of Brantford, Ontario. http://www.canadianheritage.org/reproductions/20460.htm ------------------------------------------------------- Windwalker Whatever doesn't kill me, just makes me cry.
  10. People in Scotland claim that the telephone is a Scottish invention, because Alexander Graham Bell was born in Scottland. ------------------------------------------------------- Windwalker Whatever doesn't kill me, just makes me cry.
  11. She probably works for an Accountant. Ethics shouldn't be an issue. I'm a network admin at an accounting firm. BITTER, I'M NOT BITTER, a bit disgruntled perhaps... ------------------------------------------------------- Windwalker Whatever doesn't kill me, just makes me cry.
  12. Yes, I have lots of quantum mechanics problems that Google won't help with. But the patenter of spread spectrum communications is a most unlikely person! Perhaps god (if there is a god) can help you with your Quantum Mechanics problems. He can help you, right after he starts playing dice with the universe. ------------------------------------------------------- Windwalker Whatever doesn't kill me, just makes me cry.
  13. I have to agree with you on that one. ------------------------------------------------------- Windwalker Whatever doesn't kill me, just makes me cry.
  14. Almon Strowger, a Kansas City Undertaker invented the automatic telephone exchange. He invented it because he thought local telephone operators were sending calls to a competitor. That leads me to an even better question. Can you ask me any question that I can't answer with the aid of a google search? ------------------------------------------------------- Windwalker Whatever doesn't kill me, just makes me cry.
  15. I haven't really thought about how "I" would define telephone. Coming up with a definition would require to much effort on my part. Just to make life easier for me, let's use this as the definition of telephone: http://www.wordiq.com/definition/Telephone ------------------------------------------------------- Windwalker Whatever doesn't kill me, just makes me cry.
  16. This is kind of a trick question: Is the telephone a Canadian or American invention? If you're from Scotland, you're not allowed to answer this question ------------------------------------------------------- Windwalker Whatever doesn't kill me, just makes me cry.
  17. Skydiving school. It's been done. http://www.skydiving.co.nz/skydiving-career.php To bad. Last time I checked it looked like a non turbine dropzone. Does anywone know about this place? I'm more than a bit skeptical. ------------------------------------------------------- Windwalker Whatever doesn't kill me, just makes me cry.
  18. Keeping in mind that I don't know anything about the Mirage program, I would recommend getting a personal line of credit from a bank. You pay a lot less interest when compared to a credit card or other types of financing. You should definitely shop around for the best interest rate. My bank offered me the worst interest rate! I now do all of my banking with the bank that gave me the best interest rate. The only drawbacks to getting a line of credit are that you need a good credit rating and you have to jump through a lot of hoops. I had to spend two hours with a banker to get my personal line of credit set up. Banker: What do you need a personal line of credit for? Me: Home furnishings:-) ------------------------------------------------------- Windwalker Whatever doesn't kill me, just makes me cry.
  19. I used to have some really wild off heading openings on my Sabre2. In my case, the habit of grabbing the rear risers during the opening sequence was to blame. I now just keep my hands close to, but not on the rear risers during the opening sequence. I usually don't grab the rear risers until the slider has come down. Sometimes I grab onto the risers gently, during the opening sequence, and that seems to work almost as good as not touching them. ------------------------------------------------------- Windwalker Whatever doesn't kill me, just makes me cry.

  21. I love Sabre2s. I can't wait to get mine. I should have it by the end of this month along with my new container and PD reserve. Are you buying a Cypres? The Cypres 2 just came out. You don't have to replace any batteries! It's also water proof (sort of). http://www.cypres-2.com/ ------------------------------------------------------- Windwalker Whatever doesn't kill me, just makes me cry.
  22. The analogy I always use is a postcard. Would you feel comfortable writing your credit card number on the back of a postcard and mailing it to someone? Anything sent over the Internet, that isn't encrypted, is there to be seen by anyone who looks. The Internet is a public UNTRUSTED network! It is not private, or secure, in any way shape or form. Long distance is cheap these days. Use the phone. Tapping phones is a pain in the ass and can't be done by a kid who downloaded some really cool software from the Internet. ------------------------------------------------------- Windwalker Whatever doesn't kill me, just makes me cry.
  23. I had to answer a bunch of verbal questions, review emergency procedures and then do a check out dive. The check out dive was just me mirroring what the instructor was doing. He would do a turn a certain number of degrees in a certain direction and I would imitate him. My imitation wasn't perfect but that seemed to be OK. I'm not sure if my canopy skills were being looked at because they weren't discussed and the instructor was nowhere to be seen when I landed. ------------------------------------------------------- Windwalker Whatever doesn't kill me, just makes me cry.
  24. The only con I can think of is the cost. $280 if I remember correctly. That includes the in class instruction and the 5 video debriefs of your approaches and landings. The cost does not include jump tickets. My advice is to take the course at the beginning of your stay. People who take the course are encouraged to keep on coming back for pointers and further instruction. They definitely teach you things you need to know. They teach to the experience level of all participants, which varied quite a bit when I did the course in January. I took the course after having made 46 jumps. I was shocked at my ability to land in the main landing area on the first canopy school jump. The video debriefs are a real eye opener. I was surprised by the type of stuff that I was doing to screw up my landings. If you can, you should also listen in when other students are doing their video debriefs. When I'm ready, I will probably take the course again so that I can learn about high performance landings. ------------------------------------------------------- Windwalker Whatever doesn't kill me, just makes me cry.
  25. It's not true! Canadians CAN skydive all year long. The walk back friom the landing area can be a bit hard though. Here's a video of what I mean. http://fp.kwic.com/~skydive/images/gallery/snowed.mpg ------------------------------------------------------- Windwalker Whatever doesn't kill me, just makes me cry.
