That's nice. You're assuming that everyone has internet access and that everyone wants their pictures on the web which is in my mind an inferior format to film/negitives. No it doesn't. You still need someone to organize the photos, someone to put the photos on the web server, someone to email the link to the photos, and finally - you need a webserver. None of that is free. As to running out of film on a busy Saturday, well that's the photographers responsibility, no film, no job.

I just finished watching this video, probably at least the 20th time now. I can't say enough good things about this video, the footage, the music, the way that skydivers are portrayed (not too out of control). The swoops are amazing and the chows are spectacular. It's amazing the punishment that these guys and gals take and they still do this. If you don't have a copy you should. My only real complaint is that I can't get it on DVD.

Yeah. I'm just blowing off steam because I'm pissed that I have to work all fucking night tonight, babysitting a bunch of developers - I'll be in a barely awake state on Saturday, but I'll be there.

I have it. It's an incredible video - the video quality is amazing, it's well put together, and probably most importantly it's FUN to watch. Spend some money and buy it!

Ya know, I figure if you keep everything straight then you can psycho pack anything you want. Like a sloppy 'PRO' pack, a sloppy 'Psycho' pack is going to give you fucked up openings. I've seen people psycho pack the Velocity, I can't imagine why you couldn't try it with a Stilletto. - Jim

Anyhow - I thought I'd drop in here and point out that there's actually some very good discussion going on over in rec.skydiving on this very issue. It seems an intelligent discussion on wreck is rare these days, so I thought I'd point it out. - Jim

I believe that swooping might be more successful than skyboarding, freeflying, or RW with regards to a television audience. Swooping has a lot of what the TV audience is after, and it can be viewed 'live', without edits and delay. The splash factor in swooping could be similar to a crash in NASCAR. Yes, swooping could work. Who knows, maybe someday soon. And that Ladies and Gentlemen was #300.

I stopped by there once, but couldn't jump due to weather. It seemed to me to be a small DZ where everyone knows everyone. The landing area was huge and the view of the trees and the mountains was beautiful. If it were closer I'd drop in once in a while, but it's too damn far for me. Stacy jumped there in an NSL meet - she can tell you more.

Because it's still all about advertising and skydiving (Unless there are injuries) doesn't seem to hold the attention of the modern viewer. Essentially the same reason that ESPN kicked it from the X Games. It sucks, but that's the way it is, for now.

Actually that's closer to the truth than you might think. That plane was built as a jumpship, what isn't necessary for safe flight and jumping isn't there. I believe that it is significantly lighter than other Otters, but that might just be rumor... Someone correct me if I'm wrong. - Jim
