  2. ok. another way to look at it, I guess. But, what I read in that commentary was that I would comsume great quantities of food. Now -that-, unlike Pooh, is not my style. Why do you think my handle is 'Light Diver'? ;^) ltdiver ____________________________________________ LightDiverCam
  3. Winnie the Pooh? "Easy going lifestyle that revolves around my friends"...ok, I'll give it that. But, it says my "life also revolves around food"? Now, anybody that knows me -knows- that's not true. Hmmmm.....maybe a hint to change? ;^) "Slightly concerned about appearence, but knows that people love me just the way I am." Interesting.... ltdiver Need to read "The Tao of Pooh" again, I guess! :^) ____________________________________________ LightDiverCam
  4. Found this "Guide for Evaluating Employee Performance" in my files today... So, how do you rate?
  5. Great story teller, too! I can just sit there and listen to all the 'no shit there I was' stories and 'this is how it's done' teaching mini-seminars he shares when asked. Wonderful sense of humor, too! Yep, he's at either Elsinore or Perris most every weekend! ltdiver ____________________________________________ LightDiverCam
  6. Michele, Thanks for repeating here for others to learn and share with you their experiences. Yes, a large, lightly loaded canopy can have line twist right out of the bag. My first cutaway was on a PD170 (loaded at .94:1) that had line twists from risers to canopy, pinching off the right 3 cells. I chopped. Think that was jump #65. And girlfriend...you can come and hang out with the team anytime! Glad to have you sharing and caring the way only -you- can do. You're an asset to this sport and have many friends here. Bowling be damned! ltdiver ____________________________________________ LightDiverCam
  7. What's the '3' for Curt? Didn't see any firsts to warrent -you- buying cases! Where was I? 0:16:0 Wonderful team training weekend here. Thanks Albatross and captnstratton for a fun kick-ass weekend! ltdiver ____________________________________________ LightDiverCam
  8. Sounds like you're on the right track, mhofstra, in building up cervical (neck) muscles to support the now elongated (stretched) ligaments that normally give supporting structure to the area. (you have it right that now you have to support the cervical area with muscle strength instead) Don't forget, however, that some of the same muscles that support the neck also are used by the shoulder as well. In addition to exercises for the neck, start some gentle exercises for the shoulders as well. Start with just shoulder shrugs and see how your neck likes it. Then progress to doing various lifts both forward, backwards, and out to the side. See how your neck likes those. If you can complete 30 reps of these exercises, then progress to the gym and get instruction on which machines are best for you. Good luck in your recovery. Glad to here there is a physical therapist of yours on hand as well. Use him...he's a good resources for help. ltdiver ____________________________________________ LightDiverCam
  9. Beautiful weather today at Perris! Shorts, t-shirts and 80 degree temps! I thought of all of you here and wished you a great day as well. Ended the day with a fun (funny)
  10. Hi gang! Well, I got this message from friend Gina, who is a skydiver and physical therapist who visits Barney daily. Looks like some good news! Here is her message to you all! (for those of you who haven't read the previous post on Barney's condition, see Here) Hello, Yesterday morning "Hyper" John (Eliakis) and I went to visit Barney. John brought holy water from his church to pour on Barney and said a prayer. I was very touched. For those of you who know John, it's not easy for him to be quiet and the nurse said it was OK for us to touch and speak to Barney. Barney instantly reacted to John and his loud boisterous voice and opened his eyes and turned his head. He even lifted his arms when John said goodbye much to the surprise to the nurse because Barney's on paralytic medication. Dennis Lobato had the same reaction last night when he went to visit. The best news is the pulmonologist spoke to Wanda yesterday and said that Barney's lungs sound better and he reduced the ventilator to 60%. Unfortunately, he's not out of the woods yet bet I think with all of our continued praying, good vibes, and well wishes he will continue to improve. The doctor said it will probably take months to get him off the ventilator so it's going to be a long road for all of us. The important thing is that we all continue to be strong for him and think good thoughts. He is finally scheduled for his tracheostomy and PEG tube (feeding tube) today. Tonight, his teammates the "Flying Elvi" are planning a visit (and of course charm the nurses;-) and this weekend his very good friend and one-time roommate Maiben McKinley and wife Donna are coming to visit from Atlanta, GA. Special thanks to those on dropzone.com for all the messages. They're hanging in Barney's room so keep them coming!!! It's great to see such wonderful support from the skydiving community. take care and God bless, Gina ____________________________________________ LightDiverCam

  17. Hi family. Here is the update on Barney today. I just got another e-mail from a teammate. For those of you who didn't click on the previous post, you can see it Here Please keep praying for Barney, and sending healing vibes his way. I've been sending on your messages to his family where they are gratefully accepted (and needed). Keep it them coming. He's one giving, loving, and friend to everyone kind of guy. I've attached a team picture from last year. Barney's the one in the jean jacket on the left. Here's the update, as sent to me today. Hi Everyone, I wish to God that someday soon that one of these emails will be news that Barney's "out of the woods" however that's not the case as of today. He's currently critical but stable. One doctor stated he has ~10-20% chance of surviving but we all know him better than that and know he's a pretty tough guy. So far his other systems look good (ie: heart and kidneys) but he has developed ARDS (acute (adult) respiratory distress syndrome) which is a nasty diagnosis. The plan is to very slowly wean him off the ventilator. The doctors have recommended doing a tracheotomy to aid in the weaning. This procedure should be done within the next few days. His ventilator settings are very high so they continue to keep him heavily sedated so that he can rest and simply just breathe. As I learn more, I will let you all know. Blue Skies and God Bless, ltdiver ____________________________________________ LightDiverCam

Thanks to Elsinore for a very well run, and fun meet! Come over to Perris for the next one on May 18! Perhaps some more dz.commers will create some pick-up teams and beat the record number of 12 teams for an SSL meet in California
  20. O:6:1 Really bitchin' weekend with dz.commers and teammates Jayboz, Albatross, and cptnstratn! As a 4-way team, Perris Symmetry, we took the bronze at the latest NSL SSL (Southwest Skydiving League) meet! Yeehaw!! Beer owed 'cause I finally broke down and replaced my old LED with a Cam-Eye. First jump made on it for this meet. (I know, I know...'bout time

    sad news

Thanks for a glimps into Harry's life, Bill. Makes the loss all the more felt by those who didn't know him. A loss too great to measure. Blue Skies, White Light... ltdiver ____________________________________________ LightDiverCam
  22. Thanks Linda! Here is the information I have. He's at St. Rose de Lima Campus at Lake Mead and Boulder Hwy ICU room 7. The number is 616-4615 if you want to call the nurse first to see if family is there. I don't have the area code (duh). I'm waiting back for more information. Seems that the doctor needs to put us on a list so the blood gets to Barney. Blue Ones, Lori ____________________________________________ LightDiverCam
  23. Hugs back to you, too Andy. Thanks. I'm passing messages on to Barney's family from this NG as they come in. This is great and I'm sure they are really getting a lift up with the positive vibes. ltdiver ____________________________________________ LightDiverCam
