  1. Some of the best $$ I ever spent was taking the Skydive U. course back when I had ~100 jumps. I learned to skydive through S/L and then practically did solos for the next 100. I was at a very small Cessna DZ that did tandems and I was the only other experienced skydiver on the airport most of the time. If you're really serious, at least start with Skydive U. (to get the basics) then spend the $$ in the wind tunnel. The 2-way drills will happen when you try and control a student in the AFF pre-course work. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  2. Hats off to the organizer of the Turkey Meet held at Perris today, Scott Smith (world known skysurfer and freestylist)! But even more impressive was his team "Turkey Scraps"! Take a look at the pics (thanks Cindy Munoz). This team was made up of not only RW regulars such as Carey Peck (of POPS leadership fame) but also Fritz and Eli from the "Flyboyz" and Clint and JC from "Perris Evolution" swoop fame! And to top it off, this team took the Silver medal! And they all belly-flew! Good Show!, From the Bronze team, "Leftovers". ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  3. Actually, I believe that Eric has been in conference with Kurt about a new handicapping system for this year. Seems that any new team will compete for the first 3 rounds and then their average will be measured against the 'top' team for that meet. The handicap will be determined then and applied to all rounds for the meet. Now, if that same team competes together for any subsequent meets, they take their handicap score with them. I tried to get on the SSL's new chat page to bring the exact quote here but it seems to be down tonight. When it comes up again, look at: SSL Chat Page ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  4. First jump was in Palm Springs, CA and that DZ is closed now. Bummer, since landing near a golf course could get pretty interesting! Good small-DZ atmosphere and I'm close friends with the instructors from there still. I guess you just never forget your first...
  5. ltdiver

    WOW!!!

Aha!! LOL, love your new picture there, Viking! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  6. Having a big get-together with co-workers and decided to make my family's secret vegetarian recipe to share. (handed down from my great-grandmother Carlson who emigrated from Sweden). It's really yummy but takes 2 days to make (all from scratch). Haven't felt the desire to make it for the last 6 years. Must be an 'on' year again. Feeling great! Have a Very Happy Thanksgiving, all!
  7. From the NSL newsletter. Well, it's happened...the 'One Round Meet' senerio. DeLand Majik won the NSL Championship 2002 after a one-round meet at Fantasy of Flight. See: http://www.skyleague.com for the story... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  8. Yep, I got that e-mail about the changes weeks ago and was -really- happy to see the changes. Both the delay in the start date by a month and AZ's change back to Saturdays. Yeah, it was a nice thought to have an Airspeed coaching day on Saturday and then the SSL competition on Sunday when in Eloy. However, alot of us really appreciate the 'recovery' day to travel back home after a meet. -Plus- what about the weather day? Would they delay a meet until Monday then, if there was rain/clouds on Sunday? (not that AZ ever has bad weather. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  9. So, who's the push behind getting the 1st meet changed from [~burr~]cold January[/~burr] to February?
  10. Well, quade's married, Bill has wonderful Amy, and Chuck...well I don't know him enough to say. Yeah, oj is the best, but tang sometimes hits the spot when needed. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  11. Give any wrong-doer enough time and they'll eventually hang themselves. Glad it didn't take too much time for this guy to tie the knott around his own neck. Very happy to hear your son is going to be ok. Sucks to have a child in pain. You want to take it all away and put it on yourself. You're a great dad. Take care, Greg. Wishing you and your family well. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  12. So that beer at the 'bar' was from you?!! Gee, thanks! Musta been up on a jump when the announcement was made. Harumphhhh.... Paul and I enjoyed meeting you, too. Can't wait for the SSL to start! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  13. Saw one for the first time at Elsinore this weekend. One of their AFFI's has started doing video and wanted a helmet that was light and small. It looks nice, but yes the chin cup looks less than desirable. Heard that they're changing the chin cup to a rachet-type assembly now. I still prefer the Bonehead products, though. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  14. Practiced the video slot for about 30 jumps off and on, then put the camera on for jump #548 and haven't stopped since! Wow, how time flies! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  15. Max! Great to finally meet you this weekend! You kept it quite a secret from the 4-way group that it was your 200th day! Why didn't we see some pie??!! Great pics! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  16. Wow, Andrea! Sittin' there at Perris I had no idea you were on the verge of green-ship! What, got tired of the Tang and went for the Orange Juice?!! Congratulations! Get some for me too. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  17. Jump 1,000 which included alot of former teammates over the years, kiss passes, and ended with a wonderful hour long back massage to conclude the long holiday weekend of jumps!

  23. Sorry, was still in my early morning stupor (don't get coffee until arriving at work). Add to the Perris list: eharris (new to the dz.com family) and Michele (who needs to get out and jump more!!) Any other Perris homebodies I've missed? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

  25. This is a good start....Notice, however, that the tailgate aircraft seem to be located at the 'coastal' DZ's? Does any of the 'inland' DZ's have tailgate aircraft during the training season? 1) Perris 2) Eloy 3) CSS 4) CGC (which on is this?) 5) Deland 6) Crosskeys 7) Xenia (from CCS) 8) Lake Wales (from CCS) 9) Sebastian (from CK) 10) Raford (sometimes) 11) ? Continue adding.... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
