Jesus Christ on rubber crutches...the orange shitgibbon tried to foist a surprise "hug-and-make-up" meeting on the parents of Harry Dunn, the Brit who was killed by the wife of an American diplomat in an auto accident, who then fled the country to avoid potential prosecution. The parents were blindsided; they had no idea they were being brought to the White House to meet with the pResident. They were told they were meeting with "a high-level official." They then told tRump essentially: Stick it up your arse. We're not meeting with her unless it's on British soil where she can face proper justice. Good for them.

When I took my oath of enlistment, I chose to use the word "Affirm" rather than "swear" and omitted the "So help me god" at the conclusion of it. My wife administered the oath, because she was active duty and we had planned to leave those parts out. When we got to the end, there was a palpable tension in the room, and my XO was looking at me with feverish anticipation of what wasn't to come. After a very pregnant pause, he quietly said "So help me god," as if I had simply forgotten. At that point I realized that the military was no place for an atheist. The reprisal that would come if I had refused to say it (I eventually did due to the massive amount of pressure in that moment) would've been swift and unbearable.

With all the whining Gym Jordan and Matt Gaetz have been doing about the impeachment process, it reminded me of this gem just a couple years ago. Feast your eyes on this trip down memory lane: Dec 2, 2017 at 2:20 am ET McConnell Says ‘You Complain About Process When You're Losing’ Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.) had pointed words for Democrats who complained that the tax bill was passed in the dead of night, with legislation written so quickly that lawmakers voted on a bill with some provisions handwritten into the margins. "You complain about process when you're losing, and that's what you heard on the floor tonight," Mr. McConnell said. Mr. McConnell also said statements he has made for months that $1.4 trillion of tax cuts wouldn't reduce the government's revenue still held. "I'm totally confident this is a revenue-neutral bill," said Mr. McConnell, brushing aside congressional forecasts that even after factoring in the economic boosts of a tax cut, the bill would leave the country with a $1 trillion deficit. "I think it's going to be a revenue producer," Mr. McConnell said.

Skydiver claims he was fired for being gay
yobnoc replied to Gravitymaster's topic in Speakers Corner
Well...Who'd have thunk this would make it all the way to the Supreme Court? All sorts of puff-pieces out there about this guy. Nobody likes to speak ill of the departed, of course. I have no opinion either way, because I didn't know him. Just interesting reading these old posts with the case before the SCOTUS 9 years later. -
I *Might* have a friend in common with this guy on Facebook. Although he's listed as a Bismarck resident on Facebook. Confirmation pending. Edit: Not the same guy. Facebooked the name and found a guy listed as Bismarck, ND but it ain't him.

I can appreciate that; perhaps it would've been more welcoming to engage with the person first before critiquing their use of some of the finer words English has to offer. Also, while skybytch elaborated on that, you did not. You simply shat on her for cursing in general. And now we have one less member in an already slowly dying community website.

Hey! I hope you decide to come back and get to know some of the people here. Erroll, like his avatar, tends to be a grumpy person. Every DZ has at least one! And Skybytch is maybe one of the most thoughtful posters on here; always with good intentions. It's a pretty small group and sometimes things might seem to be heated, but I don't think there's a person on here that I wouldn't jump with, and crack a beer with afterward. I will look for your book; I don't have any fucking problem with fucking profanity!

You were never *really* a *true* believer though. That's the playbook for hiding from logic with us "usetabees."

So...you are aware that medical care is never illegal, right? The whole "Do no harm" thing? Hippocratic oath and all? I suppose the good christian thing to do would be to let her die because she crossed a made-up line between two pieces of dirt though. Good call.

Inspector General from State is requesting an "urgent" meeting with the impeachment inquiry committees. The dam is finally breaking, it seems. I can't help but wonder how fast this whole thing is going to end up evolving; it's like a Cali wildfire right now. And Rudy's lawyering up - get some popcorn folks - this is going to be quite the show. Don't get me wrong: I am fucking livid that we're at this point. I'm livid that we have a traitorous group of swamp monsters in the executive branch. I'm livid that we don't have enough American citizens left in this country. We have a bunch of apolitical morons who are being duped by the worst kind of con man. Truly, we are a nation of deplorables. And it kills me.

Giuliani subpoenaed, Ukranian officials who he met with making statements that indicate he was quite explicit that he was looking for dirt on Biden and had zero interest in anything else to do with their local politics. This snowball is rolling down the hill real fast. Also, if you want a good laugh, look at McCarthy get murdered on 60 Minutes. It's all over the interwebs. These guys have no defense at all.
-
I saw someone post on twitter earlier: When Rudy Giuliani's wife visits him in prison, will it count as a family visit or a conjugal?
-
Joe, did you "experiment" when you were in college? X-D

Classic whataboutism: bring up something from 30+ years ago to try to deflect from a problem today. Pretty weak sauce you got there, man.
-
Great! Let's prosecute Ted Kenne...oh wait...
-
I wouldn't be so quick on that. Pence should probably be lawyering up too, if he was party to this conspiracy to enlist a foreign power to influence our election.
-
Again: if he did, he'd be almost certainly doomed to lose yet again. I have a feeling he will stay in the senate for now.

Ben Sasse and Mitt Romney are among those who are starting the inevitable fissure between the R's and the T's. It's starting already!
