Troy did the skysurfing sequence above Misson Bay in San Diego. You've got to pull strings to do that demo.

I hate that my injury is giving skydiving a bad name...
mdrrus replied to Jeth's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
You know, in life 1 out of 1 die. Not very good odds for life. As skydivers we understand the risks and try our best, through equipment, and training to make a dangerous sport "safer". The non-skydiver will never understand why we do it and are are caught up with the "fear" of skydiving and won't do it. Most of us co-exist with our fears and skydive in spite of them. If, as many of us consider skydiving really living, then "I would rather die living than to avoid dying to live". A friend of mine at 65 was looking forward to retireing and playing a lot of golf, he had a massive stroke yesterday and will never play glof again. Again for those of us willing to skydive "Skydive NOW for tomorrow we die. There are no guarantees in life, live it now. -

I agree with Skymama, she' right on. The 200 Free event had four of the best swimmers ever in the same pool, and Phelps medaled with an American record. Third best in the world at 19 is incredible! Watch out in 2008. I was involved with the olympics in 84 and was in a position to see the crap that the media pushes on people, and tries to make the news their way not the way it really happens. Jim Lampley is the exception in 84 he was totally fair then and still is.

I think that all wars should be fought by politicans, after all they are the ones that get us in these things. Yes Osama is a politican to, he wants to force people into his idologies and then to die for them, Osama go blow yourself up!

If you read Jefferson's letter carefully it does not advocate separation of church and state at all. The reference is to not have a state religion, in other words to provide for all of us, freedom of religion.

Not that it matters in the grand scheme of things, but down under, water goes down the drain in the opposite direction.

Is it worth arguing over jumpsuit colors for your 4-way team?
mdrrus replied to kelel01's topic in The Bonfire
Kele, The 4-way guys say that dark colors are better for judging. When asked judge Judy agreed. Red is the worst because it "Bleeds" on the video, making the edges rough. Some say that dark grips on dark jumpsuits, with light gloves may help keep from getting more busts. I don't know that's what I heard when we were going to do the same thing. Now we just jump with whatever we had before. Not going to compete in the "open" catagory in the nationals anyway. -
Luigi was going to have an exit weight of about 175 pounds. He is much lighter and had to wear weights. I was at Perris Sunday when he was doing the rigging to jump the VX46. They were going to do a few jumps where he would fly it then cut it away (it was the third canopy). When everything was right he would jump and land it. I have to say that canopy looked very small!

Who has the largest DZ in the country?
mdrrus replied to JoeyRamone's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
If we are playing airplane poker, then Perris will see the fourth otter and raise a DC9 and a wind tunnel. Now who's bluffing? -
Michelle, one thing that you need to keep in mind is that all of us have been the least expieranced one on a jump at one time or another. One of the things that sets skydiving apart from other sports is that most everyone is more than willing to "burn" that jump ticket to help someone learn. We were or still are there too. I would never refuse to help a learning skydiver as long as they keep "saftey aware". It is for me, just as fun to help a new skydiver as it is to, lets say turn a 15 point 4-way jump. The joy of seeing beginners become proficient skydivers is incredible. I know that Sparky would agree, he has jhelped hundreds including me to learn this great sport. Blue Skies!

I know skydivers that have jumped 20 years without any altimeter, there is no substitute for altitude awareness. That said, I jump with one audible and one visual altimeter and nothing less. That's my choice, but if you feel more comfortable with one on each wrist and chest strap, go for it. Eli wears two audibles, that's his choice and the choice of many freeflyers who find that it breaks concentration to look at a visual altimeter since two audibles may even more safe.

Keep in mind that Spain is removing it's troops to coincide with the US "turning over Iraq to Iraq to govern" When that happens, I hope that we pull out also. As for teriorists, you must get to world together to fight terrorism befor ther will be any peace. We all want peace but at what cost!

Lisa what would I do, without you sticking your tongue out at me in the base of a (sort of) big way. Your the only that's done that and lived. Actually your the only one that's ever done that to me! That's special, not that I want to set a trend here. Rain's over jumping weather is about to arrive to southern CA. Blue Skies!

Well you are in many of them, and my 4-way icon picture you are in the point position at the top of the photo. There are many photos of you skydiving to follow. Keep your rig handy, and your stapler full!

I'm jealous, I only have a skydive photo, no stapler, no electric pencil sharpener, no fancy writing device. I'm telling my boss! Oh yeah I am the friggin boss. Cheapskate.

Jumping with diabetes should be no more of a problem than driving with diabetes. You should however, take time to stabilize your blood sugar. You didn't indicate whether you are on oral medications or injectable insulin. In the US diabetes is no longer a restriction for a class 3 medical certificate for flying. You must have your doctor verify that your diabetes is under control. You should also be aware that in any sport where there is physicial exertion the insulin requirements of the body are slightly reduced and therefore you need to be aware that low blood sugars can occur. When I skydive I reduce the amount of Insulin I take and make sure that I eat regularly during the day. Before you do that though, check with your doctor, hopefully a skydiving doctor (they understand more the aspects of skydiving.) There are many skydivers with diabetes, you should find no limitations to enjoy this sport.

Reading your post took me back 30 years when I was in Vietnam. Almost all, I can relate to except maybe the computers and video games. Please know that we here are pulling for all of you over there. I was not in favor of going to Iraq, but I will always support everyone there with all my strength. A skydiving Vietnam Vet.

Don't forget this verse. Going 90 it don't scare me, as long as I got my Virgin Mary, glued to the dashboard of my car. ......

Got family members that skydive?
mdrrus replied to vonSanta's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
My son and I did our first jumps together, AFF together, on a 4-way team together and about 500 or so jumps in the same sky, many on big or small ways. Oh yes his mom (my Ex) has two tandems and My Dad a tandem at 76. He loved it! Most recently tunnel time at Perris, you guessed it two ways. Although jumping with Kin is cool so is jumping with the rest of our skydive family. We have lots of brothers, sisters, moms and dads. Blue skies -
