    Powerline???

Relevant link, specifically post #16, but can't figure out how to link direct? http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=389716;search_string=bird%20static; - 389716
  2. How about all the way round for a funky "Enter the dragon" kind of effect? Might make the doors a bit hard to find though I believe the correct technical term is "Boy racer window film" How about some Fluffy dice "Hanging" from the floor to carve around
  3. Quote Airkix seems to have more power and Bedford Quote They would have had the power cranked down according to how they judged your stability and skills. I watched EIGHT people FREEFLYING at the same time at Bedford (requires more power than one and instructor) and the tunnel was running NOWHERE NEAR full power. Due to the large chamber size, they maybe have to be more cautious compared to Airkix in the case of Freeflyers with less tunnel time, as the consequences of zooming in there would be some degree more dangerous than the smaller chamber tunnels (that’s only my half-assed opinion). I think both tunnels are fantastic in their own right. We in the UK have at last been blessed world leading facilities for once, instead of having to travel half way round the globe for them (now we just need to invent a sun generator). I really hope it doesn’t turn into a pissing contest between their customers. Paul and Simon are the two nicest blokes you could wish to meet and it al seems friendly so far. Airkix might be slightly safer to learn and watch body position for freeflying and be more accessible for the “Funride” trade. Bedford on the other hand has got to win hands down for Four-way, EIGHT-way and more experienced Freeflying. But rather that finding negatives with either lets just say WHOOHOOO we got TWO Kick-ass tunnels

    Low Crane Jump

How common are B12's on a BASE Harness?
  5. Red/yellow suit - Fabian from Orlando Black white suit - Ippo Fabi (Team Aria) Camo - Cathy Bouette (Bablyon) Blue Suit - Rob Silver Some of the worlds best, they all seemed pretty blown away by the tunnel (pardon the pun) Gobsmacking to watch Fabian run up one wall, across the top net, down the other wall, across the floor, again and again. This tunnel is the muts!
  6. Adrian was the one person I would have most liked to have jumped with, and I hoped that one day I would. Probably the most talented Skydiver to come out of the UK and an amazing person in many other ways.
  7. It is small and light and has a 3" inch screen, but the main problem is that it has no thread to mount a wide angle lens. I looked at buying one but I also believe that the DVin/out is incompatable with the PC/HC range that most folks jump, so you might not be able to swap footage. I went for a HC40 (slightly older version of the HC42, but with proper on-cam connectors instead of the flimsy, bound-to-break docking connector)
  8. Damn! those US model sure pack in some special features we don't get in Europe
  9. Basically it is a cheaper version of the PC109. Search on here and you will find many people saying that that model has served them well. (they don't have the 106/107 in the US) The diffs. are.... B+W viewfinder instead of colour - you wont use it anyway! no media card for stills - 1M stills on a DV camcorder are crap anyway, so again you wont use this. Stear clear of the even cheaper 106, same but no DVin, so you can't grab your buddys footage!
  10. PC 106 doesnt have DVIN, so you wont be able to upload your buddy's footage direct onto your Camera. So go for the 107. PC 109 is another £100 plus and just gets you a colour view finder (107 is B+W - but who cares) and memory stick to store stills (No point in taking 0.7M stills anyhow)
  11. Some of you guys are letting this Birdman thing go to your head. Where you building a nest or just perching there?
  12. A friend has offered me a Sony IP1 REAL cheap! (YES I Know, Micro MV, incompatable firewire yada, yada) I haven't seen one 'in the flesh' but looking at the pictures I suspect there is no way to attach a wide angle? Cheers
  13. Depends if it was on its belly, or Stalk Down How times change. Today she would be suing them for $20,000,000 for emotional distress.

  15. I want to render a video with one shot next to another i.e. me and another guy freeflying together with both our cameras viewpoints, or 4 way Cameraman and my camera viewpoint from inside the formation. Anyone know any (preferably budget) editing software that will do this, or maybe one view at reduced scale inside the other?
  16. I jumped out there in January this year, I’ll never forget the first lift when we climbed above a flat layer of cloud at 4,000 to be confronted by the top of the island rising vertical out of that white blanket, with Tenerife likewise in the distance. The visuals in a wing suit would be fookin awesome. Weather was low seventies with some windy days around that time of year. There where two small operations based at the airstrip. One run by Paco Romero (28Yrs) and one by JumpForLife (2 Yrs). They both Land on the beach several miles away at Maspalomas, three miles of it to land in! Watch out for the steep sand dunes and wandering sunbathers, oh and the big wet thingy! They then bus jumpers back to the airstrip. Boogie aside, both appear to be principally Tandem/Cessna operations with the option to fun jump if places are available with a tandem or if there are enough fun jumpers around to make a load (holiday makers – very few local jumpers save for some Red Bull guys who live there and mainly save their cash for the mainland as I understand it). They pick up Tandem trade at the commercial strip that they land along side. There is a bit of history between the two operators but they both seem to do their own thing pretty well. Paco is a real cool dude (think John Wayne meets David Ginola) If they can get a decent number of jumpers to register it would be pretty cool. Will it compete with Empuria though? The whole interior of the island is pretty vertical, so it might be worth asking the locals to see if there is anywhere to go (cough) climbing if thats your bag
  17. I think the military versions are a degree higher/faster/steeper than the ones used on the DZ If you want a quick thrill on you hols then do this, or bungee/reverse bungee, or deathslide or (the other swingy-pendulumy-thingy) Can you sell it to someone as a BASE experience? -{ pictures young kid watching FB doing his latest (need tounge-in cheek smiley) groundbreaking feat on FOX }- "Hey Mommy thats what I did" Seems as far away from a BASE experience as when they shoved Heather Swann out of the cable car with a bungee cord tied around her waist (no disrespect to someone that got injured intended but WTF! where they thinking)

    Try This . . .

I like these too. Just goes to prove that the old brain can play tricks on you
  19. Hmmm, you bitch about people not replying nice to your 'reasonable' question? Kind of like this guy, http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1200168#1200168 Oh , wait a minute....
  20. Probably why I just got back from Empuria last week (for the 5th time this year) - so i do know what you mean Sadly the mood probably isn't much fun at the moment Shame the buzz that I got from the fun coaching and great jumps was wiped off my face on the second jump back home I do want desperately want to BASE, just planned to get a lot more get knowledge first. Maybe I should go talk to the other jumper that landed off on that load (hence the arse chewing) as he posts in this forum. Or the Birdman that flew over me and joked that I'd broke the off landing distance record for the DZ, as so does he.
  21. Until very recently I loved to skydive and have since I started out 18 Months ago. I have tried to push and challenge myself not only to get as many skills as I can, but also to be safe and knowledgeable about the sport. All along (for a good while before I finally got the time to take up skydiving) Iv'e wanted to evolve to BASE, but always saw it as a challenge that I would arrive at when the time was right. I saw that time as being some way down the road, when I had got well and truely bored with Skydiving and my adrenaline tolerance was a little more numbed. So I've just lurked and listened and learned and thought... a lot. However, I find myself returning from my 'weekend relaxation' having received a whole load of abuse and basically being told that I'm a C*%T once again. Don't get me wrong, I like and respect everyone that I have met in the sport and I understand that the huge pressure of trying to keep a bunch of giddy 'children' alive ain't easy to deal with. At the moment I'm tied between having six months off jumping and seeing if the hunger returns - or is this a good time to just cut my losses now and embrace the BASE? Oh, and yes I know theres probably plenty of politics in BASE also, but I hope you can at least argue your corner without someone threatening to take your A away /re-inserts spat dummy/
  22. Every student worries about the first time they will go unstable. And every student beams from ear to ear after they do and realise that that arching stuff that your instructors bang on about really does work. At first it may take you a few seconds to catch your breath and get back nice and stable, but after your first few backloops you'll instinctivly be flipping straight back onto your belly like a cat. The reason you where way below your instructor is that you body is far more aerodynamic when your ass is pointing at the ground and you are touching your toes, like you probably did when you flipped onto your back. So you probably fell 20-30 Mph faster than your instructor for a few seconds before you turned over/he dove down after you. Youv'e got the worrying bit out of the way now, it's all good from here
  23. Anyone mental enough to jump with a ukulele is good in my book. Although understandable if you ever heard anyone play (I use that term loosely) one.
  24. Reminds me of a story of a jumper that got shot during a three-way. Seems the guy that shot him was a bit protective of his sisters
