  1. Thanks, rehmwa! Yesterday was 10 days since my surgery and I was out mowing my yard (albeit a little slowly). Not having groin pain like some people who have had hernia surgery. Maybe mine wasn't so bad after all. I really wanted to wait - because I had my invite to the Kaleidoscope Dives with BJ Worth - but my lower intestine was being strangulated and I was having weak spells. At least all that is gone now and I'm on the mend. :)
  2. Hey, rehmwa. I had to have emergency hernia surgery last week. Good timing as far as jump season goes though. Just hope I heal up 100%.
  3. I just had inguinal hernia repair with mesh 5 days ago. Didn't have any real pain until yesterday evening. Sharp stabbing pain below the incision but I'm thinking it was just part of the healing process. Definitely going to take it easy! I hope and pray that I don't have the permanent pain you are experiencing. I'd like to be able to train with a 4-way team again.
  4. Thanks, rehmwa. I agree completely! On another note, I won't see you at Nationals. My team disbanded after a couple injuries. Maybe another year.
  5. I'm point, and what you pointed out is valid, until about 3 weeks ago. I'm keeping head high and looking over the formation keeping eye contact with tail at all times. I'm also trying to be last off the plane, with no outward force at all. You're about the Nth person (where N>>1) to say "launch toward the wing". To be honest, I don't know what you mean by that. Are you saying be aggressive and head towards the tip of the wing? Yea, I didn't mean be agressive, just let the IC move, get that hip down and present to the wing. Sounds like you're getting it down pretty good though.
  6. Good explanations, everybody! Guess we all have variations on how to describe the Point exit for an E. If I remember nothing else it is to not be early and to be above my centers looking down the line at my Tail flyer. :)
  7. As point for my team, I can attest to the fact that Point needs to let the formation leave and launch toward the wing. Point DOES NOT dive out. It helps me if I keep my head up on exit too, not looking down like I think this Point was doing. Oh, and yes, don't ride the wild dog if it's gettin' too funky!
  8. Try contacting Kurt Gaebel (kurt@skyleague.com). I believe he's at Deland and should be able to hook you up.

    Wearing lead

Rehmwa is right when he talks about Mantis. 10 years ago I did 4-way with 17-18 lbs of lead. Today I am on a team and only wear 10 lbs of lead because I learned Mantis. I weigh 128 right out of the shower and our Tail flyer weighs 180 or so. Cheers! Ed
  10. Congratulations on your 1000th! I am 60 and am jumping on a fairly competitive 4-way team this year. Dream the life and live the dream! Woohoo!!!
  11. I turned 60 the other day and am training with a semi-serious 4-way team. I pack my own rig too. But I started back in the day, took a 15-year layoff, and came back at the age of 46. But, if and when I think it's time to retire, I probably will.
  12. That's how I've packed both Stiletto's I've owned, (a 135 and a 120). Keep the lines straight and open with good body position.
  13. Awesome, Professor! Might have to join you next year.
  14. This might not make sense but what helped me (I wasn't arching enough) was to see my reflection off the plexiglass walls when I was the only one in the tunnel.
  15. If I wasn't already committed to a team this year, I would take you up on your offer. Sounds like you're gonna have fun with it. :)
  16. World Class - yes. Airspeed's level - don't know if anybody is at that level because of (IMO) sheer athleticism. I love to watch Rhythm though!
  17. Thanks! How old are Bruce and Dan? And have they won medals past the age of 60?
  18. Just wondered if anybody 60 or over had ever competed or won a medal at Nationals. My guess is no, but you never know.
  19. Take my wife on a weekend getaway.
