People are motivated by two things...pleasure and pain. Just as telling your kid that they can have ice cream if they behave the other side of that is spankings or some other pain experience. It can be a "time out" up to a spanking, but its still all pain. Oh communication should be tried first, but it will not always work. Empty threats also don't work. No one wins in a compromise. So you let the kid have his way? So maybe he can't say "Fuck" in public, but its OK at home? And I think its a common response to an out of control child. Really? I would support whatever was PROVEN to get people off their asses and try to make something of themselves. I have a buddy that only works enough to pay the rent and buy beer. He has thousands in debt, but he does not care about it. He is lazy. Not on welfare, but just works enough to avoid it. mcrocker said it best. I don't think it is the government business who I buy or sell to. I think the sanctions against Cuba are stupid. I think "Most favored Nation" is stupid also.
