  1. Oh yes. "A" on each. Got full scholarship to Cambridge as a result. Looks like walking 10 miles through the snow everyday paid off for you.
  2. They sure don't make multiple choice like they used to.
  3. The real money is in breaking windows and burning shit down. I know a guy that got $25k for every piss bomb he threw at a police officer.
  4. Why are you always the first one to play the race card? Before I address the race card issue, just let me say that personally, I don't know the history behind the hurricane politics you seem to be referring to, so I'm not really feeling your gripe, nor did I initially understand the whole hating black people thing, but then again, I'm not a Kanye fan. In general, it's just not practical for an entire city like this to completely evacuate. I really don't know how I'd react until I'm in a situation like that, but I'd like to think that if I'm in charge of a city and my people are still there along with multiple rescue crews, as the captain, I'm gonna stay behind and go down with the ship so to speak, right? Anyway, the race card. It's just the easiest way to shut people up if you disagree with them. In the other thread, he tried making me look like some wannabe scientist that denied "real scientists." Which wasn't the case at all, but he didn't even care to find out. He was essentially just trying to make me feel stupid so that I'd just shut up and go away. It's a common 140 character or less twitter tactic to bully someone out of the conversation without having to provide any argument of your own. Granted, some people deserve to be called stupid, or racist. But unfortunately, people like the poster in question are just turning it into a bit of a cliche. . .
  5. This just in! So as I'm writing these post and checking my sources, I see that Nancy Pelosi finally decides to condemn Antifa for their violence in Berkely. Good for her! http://thehill.com/homenews/house/348493-pelosi-condemns-anitfa-after-berkeley-clashes Notice how the article doesn't say anything about white supremacists. Now they simply refer to them as Trump supporters. I guess that's better than "white supremacists," but they still don't get it. Groups like Patriot Prayer consist of both left and right moderates. Some support Trump, others not so much. Their message is more about unity and free speech - the ability for a diverse group of people to unite and hash out their problems together without all the nonsense. "This isn't about making American Great again. This is about making America greater than it ever was!" - Joey Gibson
  6. Thanks for the kind sentiment Wendy. It's much appreciated. There's not much for me to say to Billvon and Kallend. Their comments were funny. I can appreciate that type of humor. They're obviously intelligent individuals, so if they choose to support groups like Antifa for whatever reason, they know what they're doing. They're not ignorant, so there's no reason for me to convince them otherwise, right? But anyway, in addition to my last post, there's much more to be said about groups like Patriot Prayer, both negative and positive. I do have some reservations about their tactics, but white supremacy isn't one of them. I kind of like this guy, Joey Gibson, but this whole activist thing is new to me. But that's why I like him. I see myself in his facebook message linked above. He's trying to bring left&right moderates together so as to limit the platform of the fringes. Moderates in general are very reasonable people. They see both sides, they see the big picture. But they're not loud people. They're not activists. They don't typically go out and protest, demonstrate or rally for/against various causes. They are typically more involved with work, their families and other personal issues. I think that resonates with the vast majority of this country. We're moderates! So maybe it's time we start getting a little bit louder and take control of this country. We need to ditch our respective parties, come together and start speaking out against the fringes. We have the numbers - this country is just sitting there for the taking.
  7. Thinking you are superior because you are white is not an exchange of ideas Marc. I think you, along with many others in this thread are deliberately overlooking the fact that those in the rally weren't white supremacists, nazis nor KKK members. . . This is something I've been trying to figure out while there were a lot of said groups I'm sure there were a quantity of normal-Joe Republicans. Do you have a source or some data on the makeup of the rally attendees? There's a back story all of this, and it started with Nacy Pelosi and the mayor of San Francisco Ed Lee falsely accusing Patriot Prayer as being a white supremacist group. But, if you do the research, you'd see that they are a actually a diverse group of multicultural left and right leaning moderates. The leaders/speakers at the forefront of the group include an Asian, 3 black dudes, a Hispanic, a white dude and a transgender woman. Some Atheists, some Christians, some just spiritual. I know, right? The stench of white supremacy is already too much to bear! I suppose the perception of racism comes from the fact that they use American flags at their "Free Speech" rallies. It's similar to how the ACLU was recently perceived as racist for posting a picture of a white baby holding an American flag wearing ACLU apparel that read "Free Speech." This is exactly the type of nonsense that groups like Patriot Prayer stand against. They also stand against white supremacy. Even the SPLC says that they don't consider Patriot Prayer to be a hate group, and noted how they have explicitly denounced racist ideologies and various white supremacy groups at previous rallies. Now, In the past, I suppose it was their American flags and idea of free speech have also attracted a hate group called Identity Evropa, but Patriot Prayer actually kicked them out of their rally flat on their ass, but you don't hear much about that, do you? All you hear about is how "these people attract white supremacists!" Anyway, Patriot Prayer was supposed to have a rally this past Saturday at Crissy field in San Fran, but due to the threat of Antifa violence because of Pelosi's irresponsible comments, they canceled the rally and held a press conference at Alamo Square Park instead. On Sunday, Amber Cummings, (the transgender woman that was to speak at the Patriot Prayer free speech rally on Saturday) also organized the "No to Marxism" rally in Berkley where all the violence took place, but she cancelled that rally as well, and implored supporters not to show up because of Antifa and Pelosi's negative press. So basically, you have thousands of peaceful liberals protesting because of Pelosi's blatant lie about white supremacy, and then you have Antifa looking to start shit with anyone and everyone at a rally that never took place. . . At this point, it's the burden of people like Nancy Pelosi, Ed Lee, and those in this thread to produce evidence that these guys are actually white supremacists, but they can't. Um, I think I've exceeded my 140 characters suitable for comprehension, so I think I'll just stop there. But there is much more to talk about with regard to the positives and negatives of groups like Patriot Party Prayer if anyone's interested. Video resources: Here's a great local News interview with Joey Gibson, the founder of Patriot Party. . .damn, I keep saying Patriot Party, I mean Patriot Prayer. This is probably the most concise video out there on the issue. It's about 7 mins - definitely worth a peek: Please note, this was a few days before the violence in Berkley: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=40cLKHFdRM0 Here's a facebook video from august 17th. After Pelosi's comments, many people were asking Joe Gibson to answer back and provide a mission statement: https://www.facebook.com/100013660111371/videos/314989532299715/?hc_ref=ARQ71AM4iw2AT5xeRfWmU0dtDnWrgz2BcNlwUhG2-2TJAT-stWqIukkmxXysQWaVSyw Here's the press conference with Patriot Prayer at Alamo Square Park after they canceled their rally. This is a heavily edited version of the press conference and doesn't show many of the comments from the black members of the group. There are other videos out there from other news organizations if interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhHd_mVAQxA
  8. Right, and then you post a pic trying to equate Paton's third army to Antifa. How delusional is that? Unless of course you were just trolling. Moronic thread indeed. . .
  9. Wait, didn't you just post a story from NYT in the deplorables thread suggesting that the lack of police intervention during a protest shooting was all "by design?"
  10. Thinking you are superior because you are white is not an exchange of ideas Marc. I think you, along with many others in this thread are deliberately overlooking the fact that those in the rally weren't white supremacists, nazis nor KKK members. . .
  11. FIFY, you don't want to turn people off! Great! I like it, balance theory in action.
  12. You're a terrible alarmist! The AGW twitter storm would swallow you up and spit you out in Charlottesville for saying something like that! Ok, fair enough, I can see that. But how much more rain? And please, don't tell me the typical "30% more" that people have been trained to say, especially during a storm that has stalled over a particular area for days, and then pushed back into the gulf by high pressure, allowing it to suck up even more moisture to dump on the gulf coast. We've already determined that the stall had nothing to do with AGW, and if it wasn't for the High pressure system, it would've already dissipated, leaving rainfall totals of only 15-25 inches instead of the predicted 50 inches to come. It would seem like any practical amount of rainfall attributed to AGW would be negligible given the severity of the stall.
  13. And that shortsightedness is what seems to predominate social media. "OMG, unprecedented flooding! 40 inches of rain! We've never seen anything like this! This is what AGW looks like! There is an alarmist twitter-storm of anger directed at nonconformists, as if this hurricane is their fault. And by nonconformist, I don't just mean your typical denier. These people will shout down even the most reasonable climate change proponents that dare to provide even the slightest bit of perspective on the issue. If you're not in lock-step with their propaganda, then forget about any kind of "rational" discourse. It's like, if you don't believe with all of your heart, and confess with your mouth that Harvey is the embodiment of the Lord God AGW here on earth, then you might as well be a conservative Trump loving neo-nazi type I denier. If people were honest, they'd limit their AGW arguments to contributing factors based on the merit of that which is actually quantifiable in this particular instance, such as slightly larger storm surges due to higher sea levels, and the extra 5 mph of wind upon landfall due to warmer gulf temperatures, but those aren't alarming enough! Why should they let a good hurricane go to waste? It might be another 15 years before we see something like this again! So, therefore, they are going to take every drop of rain, every flooded house, every destroyed building, every death, and use it to shove their political agenda as far up our collective ass as they possibly can.
  14. Harvey formed during the peak of hurricane season, in a hurricane hot spot. It would've formed regardless of climate change, and there is no real scientist on the face of the planet that would try convincing you otherwise. However, they would then break it all down and try to determine how climate change may have intensified the effects of this hurricane. For example, higher sea levels could cause more damage during a storm surge. Warmer than usual temps in the gulf might explain why Harvey actually strengthened as it approached landfall, which is relatively unusual. Higher wind speeds = more damage. However, when it comes to the amount of rainfall for this particular storm, any meteorologist will tell you that it has more to do with the current high pressure systems in that region than it does with climate change. Without that pressure, Harvey would've most likely continued northward, dissipating over the midwest/southeast. Unfortunately tho, this type of "over-analysis" isn't convenient enough for those who habitually limit themselves to 140 characters or less.
  15. Right. The current record is from 1978 when Amelia dropped 48 inches in just 2 days. When this is over, it will have taken Harvey 5-7 days to reach those same levels. Again, the issue here is not so much AGW as it is bad timing with high pressure systems that have stalled Harvey over Texas, allowing it to pick up even more moisture from the gulf and dump it on the Houston area repeatedly.
  16. In 1979, Tropical storm Claudette dumped 43 inches of rain on Alvin Texas in just 24 hours. Harvey has come nowhere close to that. So far, a few areas have reported 24 inches in 24 hours, while others have reported 26 inches in 48 hours. Slow moving hurricanes are nothing new. Harvey has stalled because of a high pressure ridge, no AGW needed.
  17. That's pretty much the end result of pardons/commutations, right? Hundreds are given throughout every presidency, (some more than others) and everyone always finds a few to bitch about.
  18. Here is a thread created by one of my favorite posters in another forum. Initially I didn't agree with him, but after the disappointment of experiencing anything other than 100%, I realized he has a point. He's an old cynical bastard, so I thought I share. . . Thread title : Honk if you don't care about the eclipse "Can you hear me? This ridiculously hyped event may be of great importance to primitive tribes in New Guinea and the Amazon rain forest. To me, not so much."
  19. Ya, and the New Black Panthers initially supported Obama until they realized he was just another puppet. . . Same thing will happen with the KKK. Even Duke already said that Trump better recognize. Ultimately, Trump doesn't mind being a puppet as long as he gets to have his rally's explaining himself and saying whatever the fuck he wants. The last two speeches prove that. . .
  20. I have to admit, I was mildly amused. Reality TV at it's finest with all the drama/division. It just goes to show that things are going really well here. Maybe too well for our own good!
  21. Isn't that like a corollary to the Dunning Krueger Effect. It comes easy for you to see, therefore it must be just as easy for everyone else? Just today I heard some guy bitching about how his wife actually believes this shit. I can understand the ones that have something to gain from this ideology, it's the ones that don't that I question.
  22. No, those perpetuating this idea are laughing all the way to the bank: "Nathan Thompson, 31, a network marketer based in Orange County, California, set up the Official Flat Earth and Globe Discussion group on Facebook in June 2016. The group now now boasts more than 42,000 members and even Nathan has been taken aback by its rapid growth. He said: ‘I actually cannot believe how popular it’s becoming. It took about four months to get to 10,000 members, but in the last four months that has multiplied to more than 30,000 members." So there you have it, a network marketer. Those guys are just Shysters to begin with. . . Some of these flat earth Youtube videos are getting millions of hits. A recent ad featured a commercial from Nabisco where the Sun was eclipsed by a cookie. Up Next: The Moon is actually made of Oreo, not cheese!
  23. Degrasse said something like, "These people know enough to know that they're right, but not enough to see how they're wrong." These people are conspiracy "theorists." There is no amount of secondhand evidence that will convince them, right? The photos are composites, they're CG, they're fake. The scientists are all liars and so on. You could spend several years educating them, but not before convincing them that they're not being brainwashed. They just simply need to see it for themselves. A practical way to do this is to take them out to the middle of Lake Michigan and, and. . .put them out of their fucking misery, lol - JK, sorry for the little bit of ad lib there. But seriously, take them out to the middle of Lake Michigan about 30 miles or so from Chicago and show them the skyline. Ask them why they only see the tips of the skyscrapers and only half of Sears/Willis Tower? That should be all the evidence you need, right? Unless of course the establishment saw us coming from afar and pressed a button that lifted Chicago up out of the water as we were approaching. . . . . .THEN you put them out of their misery.
  24. I give credit to BLM for bringing awareness to the issues of police brutality, excessive force and the killing of unarmed suspects, but the sole focus on perceived racism does nothing to address the real problem. The fact is that there has been a significant increase in unarmed shooting deaths by police in the last few years, regardless of race. Why? What are we going to do about it? Let's say that we deal with the fraction of instances that may actually be racist. Ok, great, then what? The problem of increased unarmed shootings still exists. What are we going to do about it? The recurring theme seems to be that black people want to be treated just like white people. Well guess what, shit happens to white people too - especially poor white people living in the inner city, because that's just where shit's mores likely to happen. We keep comparing blacks to whites, but you have to understand that the majority of whites are dispersed throughout the entire country, many of which live in less populated areas with fewer police. The majority of blacks live densely populated in areas where there are more police - do the math. It's like shooting fish in a barrel. Do you really think things would be any different if a million unemployed gun-toting rednecks were crammed together with thousands of cops? The solution to the problem is to address our violent culture and start allowing blacks to disperse throughout the entire country just like the white folks - True integration. We are still a severely segregated country, and that's wherein lies the racism. . .
  25. Why the fuck are kids back at school in the middle of August?
