    Yes, and thanks for your reply. If you have extra time sometime soon, I'd like to hear your take on the problem with the reserve PC gap that sometimes forms that needs to be closed by tightening the closing loops (during and after the repack), and also my concern regarding 2-pin reserve as it relates to dual AAD cutters.     Thanks for your reply and detailed explanation. One other concern I have regarding 2-pins is that with an AAD both closing loops have to be cut before the pilot chute will launch, seemingly a disadvantage. If for some reason one cutter fails (missing blade from factory, faulty circuit from controller to that cutting unit, pyrotechnic charge not fully igniting, closing loop not fully cut, etc.) then you have a total. If it could be engineered to have a single, continuous closing loop then only one cutter need work for the PC to launch, thus changing a disadvantage to an advantage and one I wouldn't mind paying extra for due to the redundancy. Riggers - your thoughts? What's right isn't always popular and what's popular isn't always right.

    Thanks for your reply. But what is a Lodi Loop? I used to jump at Lodi, CA - does it have anything to do with something that originated there? What's right isn't always popular and what's popular isn't always right.

    True, but if the loading is too light wouldn't that reduce forward speed, and thus penetration on a breezy day? Heck, a 95-lb jumper under 300 sq ft on a day with thermals could hover all day. Under much less loading, I once stayed in the air for quite some time during a summer jump. What's right isn't always popular and what's popular isn't always right.

    No, I didn't cross posts. I merely commented that the guy's rig in the youtube video provided by another poster was jumping an Aerodyne rig, and not a Racer. It was a relevant observation. What's the title of the post I crossed? What's right isn't always popular and what's popular isn't always right.

    If you really wanted to know why I asked the question regarding packing Racer reserves, instead of assuming I had an agenda all you had to do was post the question "Why do you ask?" I would gladly have answered. Of course, it's easier and faster to just make an assumption that is probably wrong rather than ask someone a question and get the truth.     Yes, I have an agenda - it's to find out why some riggers won't repack reserves in Racer rigs. It's that simple, and it's nothing more than that. Thanks to those posters who stuck to the subject and provided great info - you know who you are, your help is much appreciated.     But this is a totally different thread! So now we're crossing threads?? Threads should be viewed individually, just like riggers view each rig/reserve individually before they decide whether or not to pack them. Again, my thread regarding the Racer stipulated a PDR reserve, quite clearly. Could we please stay on this thread and not confuse things by crossing apples and oranges?     Because as I mentioned in my OP, jumpers either love Racers or hate them. I've never seen a piece of skydiving equipment polarize a group as much as this rig. What's right isn't always popular and what's popular isn't always right.

    I included the above comment in my OP. Please check the OP for yourself. I thought I made all conditions clear. Unless PD currently makes rounds? Last time I checked, two days ago, I only saw two reserves in PD's product line, and both were ramairs. Maybe I'm speaking Swahili again. Learned some in grade school and it must be slipping out.     It's not that I don't like this comment, it's that from a logic standpoint it makes no sense to me. You won't currently pack Racers for a multitude of reasons (including almost going in strapped to one) and, I assume, for possible liability reasons. Yet, you say if a lot of jumpers in your area jumped Racers you might pack them. Can I safely conclude that money could change your mind? I would think that if you were against packing Racers for safety, liability, or other reasons that you would stick to that conviction even if everyone in the country switched to Racers. Your comment totally baffles me - thinking about it has sprained my brain. I'd love an explanation. What's right isn't always popular and what's popular isn't always right.

    That's not true. What I asked for was a yes or no, followed by an explanation as to reasoning. I never said you couldn't have a yes under certain conditions, and a no under other conditions. What had me clenching and teeth and loosening fillings was people going off subject (e.g. bringing up rounds) or giving answers that obviously showed they either didn't read the original post carefully or decided not to answer it directly. I'm detail oriented, so the more info, examples, and case studies provided the happier I am. If you'd write a book about your rigger experiences and included a chapter on Racers, I'd read it. What's right isn't always popular and what's popular isn't always right.

    In that case his only option to stay safe and legal would be to have the reserve repacked by another rigger at the event. Not so bad if his 180-day cycle were coming up. What's right isn't always popular and what's popular isn't always right.
