  1. I have over 200 ws jumps on my jedei, but my wing loading is only 1.18 at it's best. I have not had any problems that weren't self-induced (lazy body position on deployment). I also found that sinking out my deployments and going straight to my harness for immediate correction has helped keep it flying straight at times. Hope this helps. (on another note, i'm in the market for a used jedei or sam 105 if you know anybody who is selling...) "I don't know where it is that I'm going, but wherever it is there I'll be!" --quoted by me
  2. Damn girl! You're finally taking my advice and making it up to LP??? It'll be great to see you again! (How's Coz?) "I don't know where it is that I'm going, but wherever it is there I'll be!" --quoted by me
  3. There may have already been a question like this, but I'm too lazy to search for it... A few years back at my old dz I remember a few of the video guys buying mini-DV tapes in bulk, and the price came out to about $4each. I have recently started flying tandem video and am getting tired of spending $5-6 per blank tape... Does anybody know if there is a way to order blank tapes in bulk? Thanks! 4. No worries...there will be lots of seats on the Van Flocks! "I don't know where it is that I'm going, but wherever it is there I'll be!" --quoted by me
  5. He's working on it...can't do much about it when you're almost done and your entire computer crashes and you loose EVERYTHING!!! He's almost done, so please be patient... "I don't know where it is that I'm going, but wherever it is there I'll be!" --quoted by me
  6. You know Baby Bird, you never cease to amaze me! I was just thinking about some possibilities for an all-bird load of there are enough of us up there. FLOCK ON!!! "I don't know where it is that I'm going, but wherever it is there I'll be!" --quoted by me
  7. Hey Baby Bird- You know there will be some Lang as long as Allan doesn't drink it all before then We'd better get some flocks in this year.... "I don't know where it is that I'm going, but wherever it is there I'll be!" --quoted by me
  8. Ya know Amazon, you have a way of bringing a smile to my face when I need one most Now, why did you have to get me thinking about LP when we still have sooooo many more days to think about it?? Anyway, count me in...if all goes well, I'll be there as the BM rep once again. (Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, just keep swimming...) 9. You should always inform the pilot of your intended flight path (acro, long and straight back to the dropzone, immediate turn followed by another turn around **feet** and then back to the dz, etc.) That way the pilot will then have the knowledge and at least s/he can stay clear. As far as what to do about other planes in the area, it really depends on where you are jumping. If it is a busy airport then it is not a bad idea to ask the pilot to make an announcement that there will be a delayed canopy opening due to a longer freefall. Some dropzones have the pilot make a unicom call prior to exit if there are high pullers or if they do a go-around...this way the local traffic will know what's going on. However, keep in mind that this does no good if you are jumping at an uncontrolled airport and the pilot's don't give a rat's ass about the jumpers "I don't know where it is that I'm going, but wherever it is there I'll be!" --quoted by me
  10. Yes, jumping in CO anytime in the winter is cold. Plan on layering just as you do with skiing (a good base layer under a medium-weight layer like fleece...all under your jumpsuit), get lined gloves, and bring a neck warmer of some sort. It's usually worse under canopy than in freefall, but sometimes that can be chilly as well. Yes, there are two dropzones at Fremont County airport...Skydive The Rockies and the other dropzone. The dropzone is about an hour away from the Springs, and I jump at Skydive The Rockies. I will send you a PM regarding the two dropzones. Hope to see you here! 11. Hi all- I don't like being the bearer of bad news, but I'm affraid that I have some. yesterday (Saturday) here in Colorado, there was a double fatality in Brush. You can refer to the incidents forum under "CRW incident in CO" or PM me for further details, but one of the ones that was lost was also a fellow wingsuit flyer. I had the pleasure of teaching Scott Fieore to fly a few years ago, and when he wasn't busy doing CReW he was flying his suit. He, like all of us, enjoyed flying. The other jumper that was lost had expressed a strong interest in learning to fly when the chance arose...it never came. Here's to our fallen brothers Stacey BM-I "I don't know where it is that I'm going, but wherever it is there I'll be!" --quoted by me
  12. Fred, you rock! Do you think that paving the runway had anything to do with the grasshoppers? This means no more hoppers getting stuck in my airlocks! Say, Fred, am I going to get you in a wingsuit this year??? Stacey "I don't know where it is that I'm going, but wherever it is there I'll be!" --quoted by me
  13. Not to mention that the Rocky Mountain BirdMan School will be available for first flight courses, coaching and hopefully flock organizing. A line of demo suits and tracking pantz will be available. "I don't know where it is that I'm going, but wherever it is there I'll be!" --quoted by me
  14. You'd be surprised how many red suits there are out there. Don't worry, the one she flew was a demo suit..and I"ll probablyhave it at LP, too! "I don't know where it is that I'm going, but wherever it is there I'll be!" --quoted by me
  15. Damn, who the hell is the other bird chick in the GTi??? Must be some crazy BMI in the area I know Anyway, for those who didn't know, I introduced Jen to what has become nylon crack the first weekend of May. We did four flights over the weekend and she's solid. It was sure nice teaching a chick to fly! 16. Damn girl! See what happens when you move away from us? You have to get up early to go to an interview. If I happen to go biking in the morning I'll call you when I get up By the way, you are coming back for the CASA boogie, aren't you? (How's Cosmo doing in his new home??) 17. Mile-Hi is a little over 2 hours from Vail and is very easy to get to. I do not know how long it would take to get to Canon City from Vail. Mile-Hi has the otter every weekend (except for Memorial Day weekend) to compliment the KA... "I don't know where it is that I'm going, but wherever it is there I'll be!" --quoted by me

  19. This weekend I had the pleasure of kicking Jen LaCorte out of the nest here in Colorado. We did two flights on Sat and two today; she rocks! It's nice to actually teach another chick how to fly since I'm the only one around here. YEAH!!! ANOTHER BIRD CHICK!!!! 20. I wish I could have gotten him up sooner and taught him more to flying. But, as I said, he can now fly better than any of us! "I don't know where it is that I'm going, but wherever it is there I'll be!" --quoted by me
  21. I have revently posted under the wingsuit forum on this, thread is "bird has permanent wings". Anyway, I had taught JR to fly the wingsuit at LP last summer and, like all of us nylon crack addicts, fell in love with flight. He has now received his permanent wings and will always be one of my wingmen while flying the suit... Here's to my friend "I don't know where it is that I'm going, but wherever it is there I'll be!" --quoted by me
  22. I found out tonight that a good friend of mine passed away and received his permanent wings earlier this afternoon. It was non-jumping related. I had the pleasure of teaching him to fly for the first time at Lost Prairie this past summer as he knew he may not have much more time to fly. Like all of us, he fell in love with flight. My friend, wherever you may be, may you never loose your wings and always fly with me... 23. You are absolutely correct that weight training can only do so much in this case. However, if you try to start off resistance training by doing a lot of isometric or essentric contractions, you are more prone to overuse injury. Thus, initially developing the muscles through weight training is key to avoid later overuse injury. Once the muscles are used to being worked, you can then start to incorporate some isometric and essentric work into it. That can be done with bands, tubes, holding a weight, etc. "I don't know where it is that I'm going, but wherever it is there I'll be!" --quoted by me
  24. Thanks for refering him to my workout. Only if I could get a job with all that knowledge, I'd be in good shape. If you have questions on the workout stuff, let me know. Stac "I don't know where it is that I'm going, but wherever it is there I'll be!" --quoted by me
