i am pretty sure that there is no hotel within walking distance.... and they are all at least $65 a night (no skydiving discounts) there is a wal-mart in town... you might as well buy a tent or rent a trailer. plus, it's fun to be @ the dz and they have great bathroom/shower facilities. *hope this helps* ~hollywood see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com

MARCO ISLAND B@@GIE IS CANCELLED 2,15pm thursday
rocketdog replied to judedre's topic in Events & Places to Jump
you know, i have a huge problem with this. i am sure "a lot" of work went into the boogie, but it obviously wasn't "enough" work! i didn't see the spot -- may have been heading inland/may have not -- but when you are planning a boogie in a COMPACT CITY, WITH A TIGHT, HEAVY-SPECTATOR AREA you *must* consider outs. That landing area (and city) had zero outs..... especially when you consider that some people with their B-licenses received it when they had only 50 jumps. i remember having 50 jumps & doubt i could've hit that beach area. i think it serves the organizers right to have their good name smeared. not only were the facts & alternatives poorly communicated, but they have not done anything to make ammends (as i asked earlier, did you receive your registration $ back?) or clear their reputation. ~hollywood see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com -

now i do not know EVERY minute detail, but i would think that if "a lot of work" was put into this event, the city/landing area/other politics of the entire matter would have been worked out. yes, some unforseen events did arise, but i hardly feel bad for the organizers -- did you get your registration fee back? i think skydivers were the ones getting screwed.... see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com -
braden, brendon (freeflyswc) & i plan on leaving Z-Hills either Wednesday night/Thursday morning to drive down for the boogie. although its not MY van, if you still need a ride, we might be able to work something out.... ....EXCEPT the 2 of us are just crashing in the van & unless its gonna be a Hollywood-sandwich , you might be a bit squished. keep me/us/EVERYONE posted or e-mail me or PM or whateva, whateva ~hollywood see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com

i would think that having a hook knife would be ideal for seatbelt-related incidents. i know it's possible to make it to the door with a seatbelt still fastened. a hook knife could easily cut through them. ~hollywood see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com

i would definitely recommend getting in the tunnel (possibly before your 1st jump).... it gives you a feel for the force so you aren't like a fish out of water on your 1st jump. it probably seems expensive, but add up the cost of your first 10 AFF skydives and compare it to the cost of about 10 minutes in the tunnel... PLUS you get video, PLUS you can hop out of the tunnel/have a quick debrief/hop back in (as opposed to waiting for your parachute to be packed, etc.) hope this helps! blue skies when ya get there!!!! ~hollywood see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com

RANDOM Q: i know this is doubtful, but does anyone know if there will be any *music*? i was debating on whether or not to bring my stereo.... do you think there will be music on a PA system / electrical outlets? anyway, i will be more than happy to bring it if people think it's a good idea ~hollywood see the world! http://gorocketdog.blogspot.com

nurse it well (don't wanna reinjure it a THIRD time)... when i sprained my ankle (for like the 3,000th time) i kept current by watching videos & going over the diveflow in my head, even doing it on the floor sounds cheesey but it made me feel more comfortable!
