Hell of a time deciding.... Xaos27? Vx? Velocity? Fx?

Having jumped both, I would say definatley not, but only you can decide which is best for yourself, so if you get the chance give it a try and see what you think -

It may not be enough of a difference, but you could give the Katana a go. It certainly dives more, and has loads of bottom end, but I don't have enough X fire jumps to say which has the most bottom end. -

I think one of the reasons people are questioning your decision in addition to jump numbers is currency. You are showing over the 7 years in the sport an average of 100 a year, is this a true reflection of how you will continue, or did you maybe have some slow years and are now jumping more. I make about 300-350 a year and have just ordered my 1st cross brace, and my own opinion for me was if I dropped below 300 a year I shouldn't be on a cross brace. Please don't think I'm Knocking your decision, just interested in various opinions as people are always quoting jump numbers for various cross braced canopies, but rarely do I here opinions on how many jumps a year you should be doing to be current enough for a cross braced -
I borrowed a 96 last week, and have to say it was totally awesome, the biggest difference from my katana 107 was the responsivness to harness input. The way it would dive and pick up serious speed just from going from half brakes to full drive was crazy. I have about 20 jumps on a vengeance, and thought it was great, although I think the Katana is much closer to the Velo. My velo96 will be on it's way soon!!!

Are there any rules yet for the B, and if so what are they
-
Yep, that's why i said i wasn't sure of the source, it was one of those 'My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavours last night.' type comments that i heard.
-
Have loaded my 107 between 1.7 and 1.8 depending on lead, have also put a few on a 97 which i would have been loading at 1.9 (no lead). The 107 included jumps at 3000 ft asl in high temperatures) Between 1.7 and 1.9 there was no drop off in landability or stopability. Zero wind landings were still very easy to shut down. I heard when it first came out that PD were saying there was a sweet spot at 1.8, I don't recall the source. A crazy Australian friend borrowed my 107, and must have been loading it at about 2.3, I saw him land it well, and he said it was flying good. He even claims to have sunk it in at that wingloading!!

cool, thanks
-
if you get it really slick i guess you could stay small, then drop a leg for the gate and then bring it back up, maybe lean to the left with your upperbody as you drop the right leg to keep the loading even!!!
-
I heard one of the PD guys where wearing them at the wccp, I'll double check my info and find out who, and possibly why
-
Gotta think about having 1 leg out straight to make the gate.

I'm suffering from this a bit, think it may be due partly to the cold weather, and having to wear slightly thicker gloves. I was thinkingof putting PD slink covers on my rear risers to give me something to grip on. Although these are designed to stop the slider coming over them by itself does anybody know if it is still possible to bring the slider over them. Any other comments on using them would also be greatly appreciated.

Don't think it was that round, but heard in one of the distance rounds he pulled out on brakes then went to rears, and then back to brakes!
-
Heres one of my favourites, it was at the end of a really cool dive.

Well done Brian, you've made a lot of people in the UK very proud. Also well done for such a great job training Pablo! Graet job Chris for getting to semis and for doing so well in the distance rounds, especially as you probably have less than 100 swoops in the last 6 months. Only 6 months till the next one, hopefully we'll have some good weather. James

Good idea on the chest strap, normall when weather is good, i have it tight for FF, force of habit I guess. This isn't overly important, but more out of interest, have seen quite a few doing the track up the sleep stream exit, and didn't really ask why at the time as wasn't doing many hop n pops, if it's worth a few hundred feet i'd do it. Anybody tried it?
-
Typically if I get out at 2400 I may be open at 1800. If I take 18 seconds to turn off flightline on rears, collapse and stow my slider, loosen of my chest strap and unstow my brakes then I am 1200 feet. I like to be well into my pattern by 1200 feet. I'm basically looking for any techniques that give a bit more time under canopy
-
Does anybody have a method of getting under canopy loosing as little altitude as possible from a hop n pop. Packing methods, body position, when to dump etc. I'm asking this cos weather is crap in uk at the moment and we are getting mostly cloud base lifts between 2500 and 3500 ft. Today, no sooner had I stowed slider, loosened chest strap and unstowed brakes and I was at a thousand feet (less than 10 seconds from my final turn). I've seen a few experienced swoopers, including some of PD team when they get out on a low hop and pop they seem to go out into a track up the slip stream and dump after about 2 seconds, not sure if this is to loose less altitude or if they just like doing it.

This may have been your experience, but that dosen't make it so for everybody else, I've been to both, and there are differences but I liked them both. Maybe they are like Dropzones some people love one and hate another whereas others feel the opposite. I was Freeflying in the paris one, but saw the instructors coaching RW and they looked very skillful and professional. Options for getting there are either Ferry/Eurotunnel and drive which isn't to bad as it's this side of Paris. Or geet to Paris by train/plane and get metro to St Lazare then get a mainline train toCormeilles En Parisis. It's a 10 minute walk from the station, turn right onto main road and keep walking. Hope this helps Enjoy

Yeah, Iknow the sizes are no good for Andy, it was just that you said you'd jumped a load of high performance 9 cells, and I've yet to find someone whos put a load of jumps on the katana and xf2 who can give a good unbiased comparrison
-
Does that include the Katana? If so, how do they compare? (sorry, don't mean to hyjack thread!)

http://cgi.evtek.fi/~k0201254/rullispeli/rullispeli.swf Thought I'd share this now I've set the high score! You need to see how far you can wheelie for, left and right arrows make you lean, and up and down arrows make you go fast and slow. Tip: lean back to where you want then only use up and down arrows.
