  1. Must be why I don't have trouble with 'em. Really, a lot of passengers treat 'em like waitresses-in-the-sky. That's not their job description. I've never been jumpmastering a student and had them ask me for more coffee.
  2. Most annoying habit? Not getting your luggage down and exiting the plane as quickly as possible. Yes, I'm that guy that wants to get off the plane.
  3. I have no complaints. FA is a tough job, not enough pay, and you're there for safety, security and emergencies, not to bring me a damn drink. But a little more cleavage is always appreciated . . . Oh, and some more pretzel snack packs, please.
  4. Shouldn't this be called "The Meat Market"?
  5. We do that. Vskydiver used to pack all kinds of fun stuff for the kids when they flew with us. Kept 'em happy and entertained and they grew up to be great travelers. Everything's amazing and nobody is happy.
  6. I remember picking up that CD with toddlers in the cart.
  7. Wouldn't be the first time a bunch of feds got it wrong, mis-interpretted a rule or forgot another one. . . Just sayin'
  8. You're wrong, because gymnasts and divers are usually smokin' hot and get lots of extra instruction.
  9. Just like learning to fly a helicopter, hovering is the hardest part.
  10. Well, I tell ya, I'll be watching the Cotton Bowl this year. Should be a damn good game.
  11. Think they'll start him next year? Gotta say I might have to start watching some A&M games.
  12. Whew, I thought you were going to sing "Crimson and Clover" over and over.. So many songs lyrics, so little internet time. I like a line from a Bombshell Rocks song, , "Some are scared of being different, I'm scared of fitting in. . . . " I like that attitude a lot.
  13. Good rant. I sense some competition between the grandparents.
  14. That's a helluva dent there, sonny. 'Course, everythang's bigger in Texas. . . Our little first house up here in WA got hit by a tree about 2 weeks after we sold it and moved out. Damn, good timing there.
  15. As repressed as that culture is, I'm not surprised in the least. On a lighter note, when we and the kids visited China a few years back, my then 15 yo, very pretty blonde daughter more than once had little Chinese babies shoved into her arms while the parents snapped pictures. Weird, funny and sweet all at the same time.
  16. Thanks for the recommend. I've got it reserved now. Damn, that Vichy past is hard to shake, isn't it? Well, we in America have our shameful moments too.
  17. Puking & pain - Isn't that just weakness leaving the body?
  18. People from other parts of the country don't realize how damn dangerous wind storms can be in the PNW. I had former coworker whose car was flattened by a douglas fir moments after he parked it by his mailbox. Luckily he was out of it, getting the mail or he'd be 2 feet tall. And that tree surgeon stuff doesn't come cheaply. I spent $550 this year to have an elm tree worked on at my rental house. And that was with me doing the cleanup and hauling off the wood. That's super cool that the guy is going to do the job for free. That's the way to get into the holiday spirit. BTW, Amazon, you still need some alder? I've got about 2/3's a cord of alder and cottonwood mixed. Come pick out some stuff you want.
  19. Good Lord, for what would those octogenerians need a motorcycle helmet? Sounds like it was rigged to help out that pretty little girl that lives down the street. They want you back every night, safe and sound.
  20. Reminds me of the time a friend called and invited me over to a barn razing. I showed up with all my tools and was really surprised to see them tearing it down. Lessee, Polish workers with a Russian owner living in France. What could go wrong? Frankly, I think the mistake may have been on purpose, but who can prove what? I know in just having a simple suburban house built the myriad of mistakes that can be made. I'd hate to renovate un chateau.
  21. You'd be easier to find wearing a Ghillie Ghan suit.
  22. I think Andy Farrington might have docked like 16th or something on his 12th or 13th jump. Pretty natural skydiver.
  23. We're lucky to have a great multi turbine DZ at which to hold our annual Leap for Lupus fund raiser, but you're right. They are running a business and need to keep it as such. They provide hangar space, kitchen, jump planes, everything we need, but it's up to Vskydiver and me to get the raffle prizes, dinners, bands and beer (although the DZO does kick in quite a bit of help with it all, but we don't expect them to do it.) Do we take $$$ from the DZ or bring it in? That's a good question that I've asked myself quite a bit. When the weather is good the jumpers certainly roll out and jump their tails off. They also buy raffle tickets, dinner and t-shirts from us. But I've never heard anyone say "I was going to make another jump but I'll buy 5 more raffle tickets instead." I like to think that the money people donate to our cause is money that would have gone to one charity or another. I feel honored when they pick ours. I know I enjoy donating to many different charities and it's never kept me from making one single jump.
