Absolutely. A friend of mine spiraled in after a low altitude canopy collision. He dumped his reserve but it didn't have time to inflate. However, when he impacted on his back, he feels the empty pack tray kept him from breaking his back, with no big lump of a packed reserve there.

Practice highspeed malfuction procedures
JohnMitchell replied to NvyZero's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Shit, what are they doing getting on the plane? Your EP's need to be practiced until they are reflexive and correct. Not just high speed, but low speed, incorrectly handled 2-outs, bad canopy control, etc. People, run thru your EP's in your head. If you're fuzzy or unsure on any of them, get to an instructor for a review and practice. There's nothing quite as satisfying as getting your reserve out in time. -

Very good idea. As far as practicing in freefall, I don't know if that's necessary or not. Ground practice and mental rehearsal have been all I've needed. -
Those parents are total control freaks and very much nuts. I'm glad she could get away from them. So many people who go into the performing arts carry a lot of baggage, common theme is "onstage I could forget who I was and be someone else." It makes me wonder if poor Aubrey is going to need a lot of therapy to get past her weird childhood.

Organ, yes, but tissue donation? That's something I need to research. BTW, I'm both, so I guess I'm up for whatever. I'm wanting to be cremated anyway.

Decrease student wing loading when HOT?
JohnMitchell replied to GLIDEANGLE's topic in Safety and Training
I consider mostly the winds when picking out a student canopy. I think I'll start considering the temp on hot summer days, too. Thanks. -
According to Wiki, and what I've heard, the original name WAS Duck Tape. When heating guys started using it the name morphed into Duct Tape. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duct_tape

Read the fine print. I believe being a tissue donor can a little mutilating if you were hoping for an open casket service.

Yep, very nicely done. Pretty girl.

Yeah, as long as you're holding some timtams in your hands.

Suitable for my office. Merry Christmas, Jeff.

My son's getting his ProTrack audible in the morning. Christmas Blues? Naw, just the incessant dissatisfaction that I can never find a really "oh WoW!" gift for my wife. We both have everything we need and most of everything we want. I'm tired of the world saying you don't love someone unless you get them the perfect gift once a year. Shouldn't how we treat them every day be the most important? It is to me. I love Christmas and its message of peace, and the gathering of friends and families, but I think the gift thing is overdone. I don't need nuttin'.

Probably better than tumbling randomly, which is what I see on a lot of cutaways. I teach "feet on butt, pull and arch with hands high". This will put you in a head-high back sliding mode and should have lots of clean air flowing over the back. It's worked pretty well so far.

Having the coach pull right in front of the student give them a pretty strong "PULL" signal. That's what I was trained to do.

What do astrophysics and pop music have in common?

Lots of stars?? -
I hope I never get this low chasing a student.

You are absolutely right. The only thing V changed about me was asking me to get rid of the motorcycles. I'm still jumping, right? But I've seen some women that view men as "fixer-uppers".
-
Damn. Not for me.

My son was just able to get his A license at 25 jumps before he moved away, so the goal was important. Also, at our DZ "novice" jumps are about $25 more than "slot+gear", so there's a real incentive to get your license quickly.

"But I know I can change him!"

I just hope I'm not left behind with Kirk Cameron.

After years of "eat sensibly and exercise more" they're finally telling us to do something we'll actually do.

Coors Light we call sex-in-a-canoe beer, 'cause it's fucking near water.
-
I didn't know that. Thanks. Our DZ we use PRO settings for everyone. Or the Cypres equivalent.

Been there, saw it at about 300'. Slid over to the horse corral in a hurry.
