What is the most unprofessional thing you've done at work?
JohnMitchell replied to promise5's topic in The Bonfire
Sounds like the most professional thing to do in that situation. Thanks for the story. -

Ugh, was your daughter not on it? If you're still hearing about this kind of thing, maybe the lines of communication are still open and your kid's doing alright.

Saw them as warm up band in the early 70's. We didn't even know how to pronounce their name, but they rocked the roof off. Some bands and performers have a signature song like that. They should always play it, no matter how tired they may be of it. Last time we saw the Bouncing Souls they didn't play "Kate is Great", for crying out loud.

Sharing the stage and holding his own with Timberlake? That's a lot of talent right there.

Difference between jumping now and then

Yeah, it might take a few more years, at least. -
Saw them in 73 and 74 in high school, amazingly great band, amazing weird/arcane songs, right? Would love to see them again, but of course Frank left us years ago. Worst? Hmm, maybe Uriah Heep in the late 70's. Not much of a band to start with, just going thru the motions. We walked out. Eric Clapton in the late 70's was a bit of a disappointment. Rehab blues, maybe? Vskydiver and I love the Drop Kick Murphys. Seen 'em half a dozen times. But one time was in a new venue with crap sound. Very disappointing. Next year, though, same venue but new sound guys, great show. And we loved them in Boston over St. Paddy's. Nice double set for the home town crowd. Great show. One of my favorites recently was a double set by the Melvins at Hell's Kitchen in Tacoma. SRO 15 feet from the stage with no warm up bands to suffer thru, the 4 piece set up with Dale and Coady on drums. Played most of my and Vskydiver's favorites. Had a hotel room within crawling distance so I was free to drink my way thru the entire show.

I bought a strato star when I had 60-ish jumps. They told me I was gonna die. But I listened to my instructors. And even did what they told me to do. -

Super stoked for you both. Hope you're feeling better and you don't get rained on too much. I sure wish Vskydiver and I were there.

Great stick-and-rudder pilot. Way to fly it.

I'm convinced that tunnel time is like learning to ride a bike before throwing your leg over a Harley for the first time. It's a super good idea. Thanks for your story.

Enjoy the stress free jumping. You can't beat that "mom" babysitting. Valinda and I were very lucky to get to jump together when the kids were young and friends would keep an eye on them while we went up.

Naw, we hung onto to him. But we combined 2 & 3, and 4 & 5, getting it all wrapped up in 5 jumps total. I totally agree. People with tunnel time have a huge advantage in AFF. As long as they respect the sport, I see no disadvantage as some people do.

Old: Making the sunset load every day because it took all day to get enough Cessna jumps. Now: Everyone out of energy and money with 2 hours of summer daylight left, having done a dozen tandems and AFF out of the Twin Otter. -
My son did AFF in 5 jumps over two days. I think growing up on a DZ and being a packer and tunnel instructor helped.

My email has a "Smarter every day" thing that comes and has a true-or-false question you have to click on to see the answer. Tonight it was "In ancient Greece, tossing an apple to a woman was a proposal of marriage." The answer was that it was true, that was a way to propose marriage to a woman in ancient Greece.

I would, but I can't find the grease fittings. It's their last night in the states. We went over to a friend's house in the woods for hiking and a big steak dinner. Sad to see them go (they're super nice house guests) but they're off to Mexico for a some much warmer, drier weather. (Still raining here, duh!)
