1. Thank you for your explination but we need more information. Please post more shots of your cousin... :)
2. This is in no way practical for skydiving but I thought this is yet another novel approach to sell miniDV motion/still cameras. http://tinyurl.com/a48al This is the first attempt at it but imagine what technology will be like 10 years from now.
3. I am trying to track down the person who was interested in my camera setup I was selling. I can not find his name as he contacted me through this DZ.COM server and I saved it someplace that was not easy to find :( I have it listed on E-bay http://tinyurl.com/8oj9p
4. Read this side by side review for the cameras you are looking for. http://tinyurl.com/5cwek Canon 20D- 5 fps up to 23 JPEG images Canon XT- 2.8 fps up to 14 JPEG images Click on the picture of the camera its self for a fantastic indebth review of each one. The 20D is a more beefier camera. It shoots faster for longer. It is also made of metal and not plastic. There is always a compromise.....
5. One of the best places I have found so far (and also has had a great review rating) is http://www.bhphotovideo.com That are indeed from New York but with 8 million people, the odds are that they can not ALL be bad. http://tinyurl.com/bh9jt
6. Thanks. The freedom of information and the internet so very ROCKS.
7. Which quick mount hot plate do you prefer? Stroboframe Goldmember Both exactly the same price of $95. ....if you don't know and are too afraid to ask then YOU are the Goober.....
8. I have been looking at various camera helmets but now I am looking into a helmet that can house a digital SLR and a DCR camera. I have been partial to this: http://www.boneheadcomposites.com/optikillusion.htm Still on top and miniDV on the left. Anyone have any better suggestions?
9. So much to learn. Here is the absolute best FAQ I have found on CANON specific cameras and lenses. Part III on Lenses was most educational http://photonotes.org/articles/beginner-faq/ EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM EF-S electro focus specially for digital EOS IS image stabilization, more usefull in lower light when slower shutter speeds are needed (think resale value) USM ultra sonic motor, focus quickly and silently
10. Here is a place to go for a size by side comparison. Click on the picture of the camera its self for a fantastic indebth review of each one. http://tinyurl.com/5cwek different review http://www.epinions.com/content_180279217796 and if you were interested in comparing the next model up 20D vs. 5D go here: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos5d/
11. This might help explain the situation you are in. The biggest part of your problem is running the buggy v7.0 or v1.0 version. Get youself version v6.5 and you will be most happy with the computer you have. Newer software is not always better. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1883189;#1883189
12. What is up with the memory cards that the camera shops try to sell. CRAZY PRICES. They sell you the camera cheap enough but they are trying to make up the loss in profit by selling you the accessories at insane markups. Computer supply store has better prices. Go here instead: http://tinyurl.com/9y672 1 GB Lexar Compact Flash 80x speed Write Acceleration (12 MB/s) $110 .....the internet so rocks.....
13. I have been checking into some prices and HOLY CRAP!!! Canon 20D ==Body Only== $814 http://tinyurl.com/8cnmo Sony DCR-PC1000 Mini DV $729 http://tinyurl.com/8aefa The contest is on. Someone beat that
14. PHREE ZONE I have some very pertant information on how you can do the effect you are looking for. Demo video, project files as well as a comple detailed explination. I need a way to get in contact with you though, you have no email address.
15. I can help you with this problem because I had the EXACT same thing happen to me. Sony DCR-PC line of mini DV camera. First understand that the progression of Adobe Premiere is v6.5 then Pro v1.0 (internally Adobe called it v7.0), then finally Pro v1.5. You have Pro v1.0 with a patch and that is why they called it v7.1. If you have the newest Pro v1.5 and installed the DV upgrade patch it is now Pro v.1.51 Anyways, take that version you now have Pro 1.0 (v7.0) and toss that most vile piece of crap as far away from you as you can. Serisouly. Adobe put that crap out and about one month later, scrpped it and put out v1.5 IN the mean time, people got majorly pissed that the v1.0 was flakey, didn't record properly from the camera, destroyed data and spontaninously blew up. Kinda funny how 30 days after a new release, it is already oudated by a better version. I wonder why the did that? Anyways, they learned a great trick from microsoft. Put out a piece of crap and when it if discovered that it is full of bugs, charge peole to upgrade. Remember 95, 98, 98a, 98b, 98SE etc. That is what Adobe did. Not cool at all. The best thing is that if you have the power to run Adobe PremierePro v1.5, it is the most wonderfull thing on the planet. Steep learning curve if starting from scratch but once you know how to drive this puppy, you can not max what this thing can do in the many years and years you have in video editing. Get Pro v1.5 there is no other video editng software out there that has as many 3rd party plug ins, add ons or video editing help in books and DVD training.
16. I know about this video. This is actual ground video of how truly stupid parents can be. I know this was done in South America and I'm pretty sure it was in Brazil. The parents wanted to have their insanly young son, something like 11 years old, to be the youngest skydiver (not tandem). On this kids birthday and with the stupid parents permission, they sent their son up and this event happened. Brazil, no AAD for students required and not enough pull strength that this child could muster to pull the pilot chute. No AAD? Fine. First jump on a pre teenager? Also fine but at least use some comon sence and IAD him or stick him on a static line. Unfortunate and grizzly video but in everything bad, there is something good the be learned. Do you know what that is?
17. This is where I did the travel and booking through http://www.north-pole-expeditions.com/north_pole_skydiving.htm The president of that company really pulled through for the 3 skydivers at personal financial risk. He deserves a plug :) The exit altitude was 5,000 feet and the North Pole elevation was 6 feet (solid ice, nothing but ocean beneith that) Ground temperatures was -33 C (-28 F) and at altidue it was -40 C (-40 F)
18. I took the last part of my video (the important part, the actual jump) and posted it here: http://www.skydivingmovies.com Title: North Pole 2005.wmv Size: 30.17 MB Time: 3 min 44 sec PilotDave was good enough to give a more direct link: http://www.skydivingmovies.com/...ion=file&id=2824
19. Thanks, posting that link is much more efficent :)
20. I took the last part of my video (the important part, the actual jump) and posted it here: http://www.skydivingmovies.com Title: North Pole 2005.wmv Size: 30.17 MB Time: 3 min 44 sec
21. QuoteI haven't been able to get a good clean DVD out of Premiere. In the first example, I just the Premiere Pro 1.5 "Export to DVD" with the default settings, and it created a basic DVD. Quote I have also tried with Premiere Pro v1.5 and made a few coasters. Another friend has done it successfully on the same program but I much prefer Encore to burn the DVD. It gives you more options but you always have to ballance the $$$ to what you want to do.
22. I sent you a private email. Check there. BTW, thanks for your posting.
23. I looking for some feedback on the Sky Systems Sidewinder -2 camera helmet. The pictures on their web site are not the greatest and I was wondering how they compare to the original Sidewinder. With the PC-1000 being out, I'm told by Sky Systems that they fit into the box quite well with only a few shims. New box to be made for the PC-1000 shortly.
