Secret Emails in the Most Open Administraion
PhreeZone replied to Kennedy's topic in Speakers Corner
There is a difference between a "secret" email account and a second alias for the same mailbox. I am willing to bet that most IT admins worth their salt have a second or even third alias that points to the same mailbox so that they can receive email to a "vanity" email address. I have also created the aliases for users with difficult to spell correctly names so it minimized the number of bounced emails since someone could not type Klidcitchiaroty.Headlely@company.com but they are able to type KH2@company.com (or netguru@company.com ) and have both addresses pointing to the same mailbox. I've also created policies that allow for more stringent mail filtering policies to be applied to external facing aliases for executives since their contact info is published on the websites and then have a normal filtering policy apply to their secondary alias that is not published externally. Cloud Storage for Collaborative Video Projects
PhreeZone replied to TallGuy's topic in Photography and Video
At a different boogie I have seen a laptop with massive external drives being used to "dump" footage for later usage for DZ videos. This gives people the option to dump while they are right there and thinking about it as well as not consuming large amounts of bandwidth for 5 minutes of standing in a plane on jumprun footage. 1 or 2 Terabyte sized drives, a laptop and a USB card reader will get you about 99% of the footage being shot. Last year I think I got 250 gigs from a 4 day event, trying to pull that from the cloud would have taken days or weeks just to download it all, having it on a drive meant I was ingesting it in about 20 minutes after organizing it a bit. Jumper performed a low turn for landing and did not recover prior to hitting the ground. This was the jumpers second jump on his new canopy. This jumper was a full time wind tunnel instructor and had downsized canopies extremely fast and had recentl

Personal Armed Drones and the 2nd Amendment
PhreeZone replied to mistercwood's topic in Speakers Corner
That drone in the video is 100% CGI, its from FPSRussia channel on Youtube. It was done up for one of the Call Of Duty video game launches a year or two year back. The Pentagon when nuts when the video was released since they thought it was real and demanded to know how to get them. It was a huge joke at the time and its still a joke. Jumper experienced a very hard opening that broke his neck. After opening the main the jumper landed with no inputs to the canopy. He was taken to the hospital where he passed away due to the injuries several days later.

Jumper had a line over on his main canopy and cutaway at a ver low altitude and the reserve did not have time to open but was at line stretch. Jumper did not have an RSL.

Game finished! You got 12200 points in total. My average was about 2300 points a guess. Other than a massive mistake that was about 4500km off... not bad. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

The skydiver was jumping a cross braced canopy and happened to get caught in turbulent air that lead to the collapse of his canopy. The jumper was doing a 90 degree approach to landing and it seems he flew through a dust devil at around 300 feet, when it

Since ours was born I have made it to the DZ a lot less than before. I am looking at going from ~200 jumps a year to doing only about 100 this year at this pace so I have cut some things out like jumping camera, wingsuits and swooping. In a few years when I can actually stay really current I'll do those things again if I want to. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

Raw line set alone is going to be $175-250 if you get it from the factory (plus shipping) and then figure in the labor for a rigger to do the install. That is assuming the rigger actually has a bartack machine and their bartack pattern is t he correct one for the canopy. You are going to need to find something more than your "hick" rigger to do this right. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

Jumper was attempting a high performance landing and struck the ground prior to returning to a land able angle.

I've seen them in use for a season on gear that was averaging 800-1200 jumps a container and they are seriously built stronger any of the originals I have ever seen. We have some in each size and let me tell you when the 60 inch one gets deployed it will slow any big boy down so video can fly with them all day. We had all sorts of wear items appearing on the originals but the Super Drogues seem to have made that disappear for the most part. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

Here is an interesting situation that I am putting out for all riggers to reply to in terms of what you would do and what jumpers would do if this occurred to their gear. During a routine inspection it was noted that lines had been colored on with a marker by a rigger. The lines were colored at around an inch in length at the line attachment point for a line group. The coloring went over the bartack. This was not noted anywhere on the card and the canopy was last seen in this loft about 4 years back and was not colored at that time. The lines were marked with an unknown marker so it might not be acid free. Do you pack it, do you refuse, do you try to contact all the previous riggers to see what type of marker was used, do you tell the customer? Individual made a hard diving turn too close to the ground to recover. He impacted almost simultaneously with his canopy. There was no attempt by the deceased to stop the turn or the dive. Help was on scene within a minute but the individual was unrespons

Lets keep the political arguments out of this thread but insurance for major events is not that expensive and tends to be around $100 a month or so for most people if they look around. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

I assume this is for a different canopy collapse than the one he suffered about a month ago that put him in the hospital then too? Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

Can't you just create a site-wide IP ban?
PhreeZone replied to Remster's topic in Error and Bug Reports
Remi as a former mod knows about that tool, I think he is just trying to complain about a user that just wants to spam the forums and disrupt the experience for the whole community. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com -
They might have done that for you but one of my customers since in a canopy for a reline after breaking multiple lines on an opening and got a bill not only for the reline but for washing the canopy since they found "unknown blood like stains",and a list of other small stuff that added up quickly. PD was great about working it out since it was unauthorized work and they took some of the charges off in the end but even shops like PD sometimes do things beyond what customers are expecting. I will call my customers if the charges are going to be more than $25 or so over the normal stuff. I've had them say don't do it (replace BOC, replace Velcro, etc) and then find them jumping the gear a few weeks later and wondering why the risers keep coming out in freefall. Other issue is that 1080 is on its way out... 4k is the replacement and anyone serious enough to be looking into something like this outside of some jouralists and some indy film makers will be looking to go to 4K instead. RED has seen their prices dropping slightly as more units are selling and some are on the used market. I would (am) be looking to get something like a Scarlet if you want to step up beyond an HDSLR for your film making... Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

I prop my feet up on them much to the dismay of the FA. It works well since I get to stretch out and I get to look at the FA with a "bring me another drink for free since I missed out on the upgrade lottery" look . Plus they tend to fill up last since that end seat is where everyone bumps into as they load so it stays empty more than other seats do so I have pulled off the empty beside me thing more often. I can usually pull the seats due to status I want so I try to grab longer leg room first (6'2" is not comfortable otherwise) and that usually lets me get the bulkhead. I'll always grab a window if open. If the bulkhead is not open or any with longer leg room I grab seats with power first and then seats with out someone beside me. I'll always grab a window to sleep against over an aisle. I don't get up upgrades as frequently as I used to so I have to get used to riding in coach again this year...
