  1. If you pause the video around 4 seconds when he is landing on the van that sure does look like the top flap of a two pin base rig hitting him in the back of the head. But they would never use a BASE rig for a stunt like that with out FAA approval.... Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

  3. An offset raises the upper and lower end at the same time. If you raise it by 500 feet it moves the window from ~750 feet at the upper and 300 at the lower to new settings of an upper at 1250 and a lower end where it will not fire under 800 now. Airtec with this change allows the bottom end to stay the same and just increases the window size for firing instead of from ~780-300 to a new config of "X" to 300. What ever your personal opinion on how much the lower end will come into play for a save is another conversation. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

    Proximity Crash

The 42-year-old wingsuit diver crashed into a mountain ridge just 20 seconds after he jumped from a helicopter. A video is believed to show Sutton exiting from the helicopter but then he veers off track and the camera lost him seconds before he hit the

  7. After the newest Firmware update I tried to clear my card using the in camera option to Delete all - it locked the camera up at that point and i had to remove the battery 5 minutes later to get it exit finally. Not all the bugs are fixed it seems... Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
  8. The one thing I have wondered about is BitCoin, its essentially solving for SHA256 keys and recomputing to validate new keys. The founder of Bitcoin is unknown and it was dropped as a fairly well polished set of code when it was introduced a few years back so someone had a large background in cryptography and programing to make that happen. That same algorithm is used a lot for PGP and other encryption programs. What is easier for the intelligence communities to do, keep buying more and more hardware to do this cracking or is it easier to do mass distributed computation to solve for the keys at a net cost of $0 for an intelligence agency. No need to buy computers, pay for power or maintain the systems.... let the users do it for you. With new items like Butterfly Lab's dedicated hardware machines its even easier for distributed computing to solve for these keys all with the user earning a "digital currency" that could turn to vapor at any time. 9. Jumper was conducting a Head Down dive and had borrowed another canopy for her rig. She had a toggle become dislodged at opening and it lead to line twists and started spinning to the ground. She then proceeded to cutaway at several hundred feet and was u

  13. Its not quite as easy as what you created but I have found that http://mesowest.utah.edu provides Current METAR weather for all reporting stations in a state if you select the Current Conditions option and what I find useful is that it retains the last 24 hours worth of weather so you can see if the winds are picking up, ceiling is coming down or even just has a record if needed for an incident. 14. Talk to the instructor at the DZ and see if the dropzone has any planned trips to XP in the near future. Depending on the dropzone you jumped at here in Ohio there is one that has multiple teams that are training for Nationals and make the trip down every couple of weeks and might be able to help provide guidance on a trip or even help with ride sharing or other assistance. Join the DZ's facebook group if they have one and ask around since there are usually lots of people including some instructors in the area wanting to make a trip down there and are just looking for an excuse to go. 16. At final approach at approximately 200ft the skydiver apparently lost a toggle. A hard diving turn followed, turning the main canopy 360 degrees, line twists developed. Collision with the ground at high rate of speed.
  17. Last I was hearing was SugarLoaf was turning away all sport jumpers but that might have changed so you would need to call to verify. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

  19. Years ago - WFFC, LP, etc used to actually pay for video staff to document the event on both the ground and in the air and then put together a boogie video for promotion and for jumpers to buy for later reviewing. Pre-internet there were only a few ways to promote your event and how great it was. You could hope to get photos published in Parachutist or Skydiving, you could take out ad space or you could have a killer boogie video that people showed around their DZ during the bad weather days to get other jumpers interested in coming out to that event in the future. Best way to get that type of exposure was to have a boogie video that was filled with skydives that everyone wanted to be part of so you had raft jumps, big ways, freeflying, CRW, bloopers, etc all in there for 30-60 minutes of highlights. In terms of paying for the video slots back then there were no different than organizer slots. Want to get on this 15 way? The organizer had their slot covered to get people on the plane and the DZ would pick up the video slot of the professional jumpers also to get shots to build a better promotional video or a still to be used for promotion reasons. You still see this occurring on organized big way and record attempts every weekend. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

  22. Please write the book since I am yet to see a compelling reason to swap from one rig to this one. Minor things like the "field replaceable" items are so low on the list that they don't even count. After replacing a few legpads and seeing the effort for a rigger is about 15 minutes that is basically the same effort in the end. What else on the rig makes it so much better than a Strong? What makes it better than a Sigma? Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

  24. Call and specifically ask. I just got a quote from an agency that was very reasonable and then as I probed about skydiving I was told its in an specifically excluded class that the initial underwriter was unaware of and instead of a Term policy costing me less than $900 a year it would be $8,415 per year for the same exact coverage. 25. As long as its on a .gov mail server its not secret and is subject to a FOIA request. These are not secret mailboxes but they are second addresses that are accessed in the same mailbox. Do you really think that the Presidents only address is president@whitehouse.gov? If you do not know the difference between an A-name pointer and and MX record pointer then this might be a good time to admit you don't really understand what they are talking about in terms of how "secret" this really is.
