Saturday March 8th is Safety Day at Adventure Center Skydiving in Hollister $18 to 18k Kingair loads all day and after the last load there'll be info sessions and demonstrations. Bring your rig even if you don't plan on jumping. The weather looks great so lets start the day early. Don't forget if you make 7 jumps in a day your 8th jump is FREE!

When people were working long hours every day they fought for a fair work day. 8 hours of work, rest and play. Now of course everyone's back to working 12 and 14 hour days again..... Labour day = public holiday....go skydiving

Thanks for the links PhreeZone. I tried a few weeks ago with the sony service link and it lets me get a few pages through it and then has an error. When I told Sony about it they said it would just be easier to use the service centre. I tried again with it now and it's still having the same problem. Thanks anyway.

I originally called Sony direct and they said if I took it to this service centre and paid them the $30 estimate fee then they could worry about all the shipping and I'd have it back in my hand in 7 days. He also said it would be a flat fee of $269.00. I've told the service centre to hold off on any repairs until I decide what to do. I also found Sony to be very vague. Each time I talk to someone they tell me something different and give me a different address to send it to. Maybe I need to practise sounding more like I know what I'm talking about.

I recently bought a PC110 from a friend who did a couple of jumps with it and decided freefall camerwork was not for him, he gave me great deal on it. After playing around with all the functions for about 8 straight hours I couldn't get any of the memory stick or photo functions to work so I took it into an "Authorised Sony Service Centre" for an estimate on repairs. Well, today I got the estimate... $151.00 Switch "B" $38.00 Switch "P" $96.00 DOOR $115.00 Labour I called them and asked which door needed replacing. The girl said that there's a little piece of tape covering the place where the hand strap was attached and if that tape comes off then the camera will fall into pieces. WTF??? I told her that made no sense at all and could I talk to a technician. She put me on hold for about fifteen minutes and another girl came on the line and said "Yes, if the tape comes off, the camera will fall apart. The repair is essential if you want the camera back in working order." I told them not to do anything and hung up. I called back five minutes later and asked again to talk to a technician and was told they've probably all left for the day. "Probably....or you've checked and know for sure??" on hold for another 10 minutes.... finally I'm talking to someone who sounds like they know just a little bit about what they're talking about. He tells me that the handstsrap has come off and if I drop the camera it will fall into pieces. I told him that it's really for me to worry about and I'd just have to be extra careful. So he says "OK, we'll just fix the memory stick problem". Now I'm wondering if switch "B" and switch "P" even exist. I once worked for a company that tried to make me do this sort of thing to unsuspecting folks. I wrote a very colorful letter of resignation full of words like "respect" and "honesty" and "repeat customers" stuff like that. I also try to learn a little bit about the products I'm talking about. Are service centers usually like this?

Anyone jumping a PC110? I was all set to get a PC120 but have been offered a deal too good to refuse on a 110. When they first came out I heard they had focus issues, especially after opening shock. Does anyone have trouble with this? I'd really appreciate some advice before taking the plunge. . I jumped a microlite in Oz. A microlite being a hanglider with a small engine, not an ultralight. I was visiting a new dz and was offered the chance before I had even done a skydive there. When I asked the dzo if I could do it he said "SSShhh!! I don't want to know!" Then he gave me a quick briefing on the airport and landing area and hurried into his office and shut the door. It was really fun and we actually got 4000'. The pilot cut the engine and we glided quietly for a bit before I climbed out. Getting past the wires was a little tricky. Got some cool visuals of the microlite circling me while I was under canopy. .
