I love it when moral crusaders are exposed for their true colors.

why, what an ugly thing to say! why you sir, your no gentleman, no sir, no gentleman at all. you really must brush up on your linguistics. good evening then. -
you and i are about the same size, although i'm 6'3". i fly a Javelin J-4 container with wide legstraps. you didn't mention what type of container you were using. wear a jockstrap and buy some road biking shorts with gel padded groins, they work. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

you need to read on brother! adam and eve did have more children, the 3rd being a female. to this day in the middle east muslim arabs can have 4 wives if they desire. they can marry first cousins etc...you know the deal. like i said, we're all kinfolk and yeah, it took some inbreeding to get the population level to where it is now, sad but true. Joke: question: what is the definition of foreplay in louisiana? answer: hey sis....YOU AWAKE? HAH! J/K itz just a joke. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist" -

I'm just now visiting this thread for the first time. i've seen as many or more racial remarks as political remarks. personally, i'm not a racists and i can't hardly stand to associate with someone who is, that said it is my belief that everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and opinions. One last thing, regarding ancestry, in the beginning god created first the earth, then man then of course he gave adam a mate by creating eve. this tells me the earth was started with just 2 individuals on it, mind blowing ain't it. We're all kinfloks, ain't it a bitch? --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist" -
in response to your post to phillykev, he is entitled to say or state his opinion(s) about anything and yes, certainly politics if he so desires. this is really spooky, because him & i NEVER agree on anything. and if he continues to skydive he better remain "hard headed" political views always bring about much debate as they have in the past. i might not agree with everything you say, but i'll defend to the death your right to say it. g'day mate! --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

i've been waiting for this for a very long time. i was yelling and screaming all along although sodamninsane is a fairly unsavory individual he was no threat. it comes as no surprise that ol Wyatt Earp & Doc Holliday at the very least exagerrated the WMD topic just to go in there and spend the billions and billions of taxpayer's dollars. the pair disgust me. the whole affair is a travesty and will go down as a "A Great Blunder In Military History". i get a kick out of ol' Wyatt traveling all over the world sucking up to all of the 3rd world leaders, when pre-invasion he was merely "burning up the phone lines" what an asshole. i'm incensed that our troops have been put in harms way merely for monitary gain, that SUKS. this event is costing the US taxpayer 4 billion dollars a month, not to mention the 87 billion ol' Wyatt is trying to get from congress right now. we have people here in the states with no job and no food, etc...how smart do we look now that we've invaded a nation that literally hates us and thinks we are the anti-christs, not to mention we spent billions to destroy the godforsaken place just to build the piece of shit back up. i'm shocked and appalled. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

in my limited experience with the Cobalt i had, packing and split rolling the nose and rolling the tail tight helped with the "smack openings" i have since bought a HeatWave and have been having a blast with it. the Cobalt definitely has some issues. i was just kidding you guys earlier about body positioning, because when i called and complained that was the "standard excuse" they gave me for the unpredictable openings.....*cough* BS! --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
-
i think i've heard this before. body positioning at deployment time fellas, body position! use your harness input! *satirical*

ain't nothing to it. it's just like falling out of a plane, with a plan. J/K hell yeah it's dangerous. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
-
please don't, when it can be avoided, it could result in a downplane configuration which with your limited experience may and could cause sensory overload. what caused your reserve to deploy? pin come out? break? you can safely land bi-plane configurations and side by side configurations (with 2 out) with suttle inputs from the risers on the dominant canopy, which will more than likely be the main parachute, do not release your brakes on either canopy. remember, the less you mess with it, the less it will mess with you. in th event of a downplane configuration with 2 out, release the RSL device if applicable and cut-away the main and fly the "Plan B" parachute. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

i made a consultation call to a skydiver i knew who was jumping a HeatWave 170^2 before i bought mine, he relayed the info about the bigger slider and i ordered it just that way, i've never been happier with a canopy in my life. it doesn't slam me ever, i get great openings, just one that was wierd i deployed and the damn thing went into a downplane dive from hell, i collapsed and stowed my slider and the canopy did just what it should have, it recovered and i enjoyed the rest of the canopy flight. next canopy i aquire will be a crossfire2 i think, or an H-Mod on my HeatWave, but that's a waus off. having a complete ACL reconstruction and cartlige replacement on my left knee a while back has me a little gunshy, but this is my weekend! my winglod on this HeatWave will be 1.6:1, front riser snaps can wait for a few straight in approaches! --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

No medical insurance and getting hurt while jumping
rgoper replied to PhreeZone's topic in The Bonfire
i own my own business and have for quite some time. i have industrial liability insurance and vehichle coverage and personal injury to cover me to and from work. my life insurance policy dropped me like an anvil in the atlantic when i started sky diving, that pissed me off. because of my profession ie: petroleum industry, and having to be on the actual drilling site my personal insurance will not cover me, but my industrial will, if i get injured or killed working overseas (during transit, etc...) the insurance will not cover me then either because of the "terrorist clause" added after 09/11. if you go to buy insurance, make sure there are no "grey areas" in the policy and take a magnifying glass with you to read the fine print on the back of the page at the bottom. right now, if i get hurt sky diving, it's all on me, BC/BS really sucks. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist" -

first Kris, glad your O.K. i hate that your gear was damaged. out of curiousity, how many jumps on that StiLetto? what was the top speed of your freefall according to your ProTrac? Again, heal well, and good luck, Take Care. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

surely this is not your "Hard-Deck" if it is, think it over. if your not where you want to be at 2500-2000 with your canopy, given your low jump numbers, go to plan "B" i've seen one jumper cut-away at 1000 AGL, the only thing that saved him that day was an RSL. he rode line twists all the way down to 1000 AGL. bad move. realize it can be rather easy to lose altitude awareness and canopy traffic during any type of mal, especially on a heavily loaded elipitical. audibles are especially helpful here, along with a time out. about your protocol you have for each jump, while most of it is certainly textbook, lighten up, be safe and enjoy yourself. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

what then, if any opinion do you have on mass? would you agree with newtons law of gravity? would you, or would you not agree that the more mass presented to the relative wind may and could make the object, whatever it is fall slower due to increased drag because of more area of the object, again whatever or whomever it may be? would an object thin and cylindrical not penetrate the relative wind at a faster rate? i always wondered why they made airplanes so slim and cylindrical, now i know why, so they can travel slower. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

if you wouldn't mind, just for my peace of mind, explain this statement and how it can possibly either motivate this jumper in question or deter him from our sport. it struck me that you meant no one but other 300 pounders would jump with him and would have a hard time finding jumper partners. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

go with the 135^2. don't drop that much canopy at a much higher wing. good luck whatever you do. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

from my observations, 99% of the DZ's here in Texas that i've jumped at do in fact have the size & manufacturer of the main on a spec chart on the backpad of the container. i've also seen DZ's utilize their student gear with a number stitched on it, and a schematic on the wall where they hang with the main & reserve canopy sizes and manufacturer's on the sheet, along with a printout of the main's color scheme so the student can have a visual of what they will see above their head when they deploy the main parachute. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

i missquoted, i thought the follow up post would clarify the original comment....guess not. in any event to jump any rig without knowing what size, type of main and/or reserve the container has in it isn't very clever. when i underwent my tandem progression/afp program years ago, you better damn well know what's inside the container, it's also the USPA coach and/or AFF to make sure the correct gear is being utilzed for each sky diver when using DZ gear. i'm quite certain that if rounds were the best reserve to use, everybody would have one, they aren't being antiquated for no reason at all. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
-
your joking....right? it is supposed to be common knowledge that the reserve info is in the reserve flap stored on the container itself, last packed date, size, manufacturer, etc...any rig you pick up that doesn't have this information on it, hang it back up and jump another day, or have a "come to jesus" with the S&TA ot DZO. --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

after some research in my IRM, SIM and Sky Divers handbook i came up with the following information: SIM: Section 5, Page 106 reads as follows: Reserve Parachute 1) All sky divers should use a steerable reserve canopy 2) The FAA requires the reserve parachute assembly, including harness, container, canopy, risers, pilot chute, deployment device, and ripcord to be approved. 3) Jumpers must observe FAR's regarding the manufacturer's maximum certified weights and speeds for parachutes. there is a lot more to follow. but "steerable" is the "key" word in the SIM regarding a reserve parachute, so i take that to mean if you do utilize a round as a reserve, it must be steerable. thus the old saying "a round will get you down, but a square will get you there!" --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
