i know this is going to make me sound like a whuffo, "but who in the blazes is this infamous roger nelson?" go easy on me now, i really don't know him, or heard of him. as far as dz's making money off of "our" sport, they have to, for us to have a sport. i know the price of otters, and cessnas, and overhead, etc...it's ugly. these guys spend a lot of money to keep us flying. and if the weather is bad for a month and a half, it just causes us to not be able to jump, and that hurts! but the dzo's on the other hand have bank notes, BIG bank notes, and the payment goes on.......... skymedic et al: thanks for being understanding, it is deeply appreciated. my heart is contrite, and i am sorry for my bad behaviour. you people have every right to tell me to base jump without a rig, and i wouldn't blame you. my sentiments are genuine, although hard to admit, so i think you can relate to what i'm going through. i jumped out of the same aircraft as zennie, and ramon today, and saw a bunch of my firends from sdsl, it was good seeing them, and i'm looking forward to a continued great repoirt. (s?) and sky medic, i owe you an apology, yes, we are brothers, and you have my sincerest apologies for stating otherwise, and being rude to you. thanking everyone in advance for there understanding in this matter. peace to all. Kindest Of Regards: Richard "Gravity Is My Friend"

... when i'm wrong. (although i hate to, but that's just testerone speaking) i was wrong, when i first attacked another sky diver in this forum for being low time, high tech, then another for being, in my opinion, for not "being quite right" i went overboard, i want to take this opportunity, to sincerly apologize to the entire sky diving community, as well as the "head honcho" of this site for being a "prick" it's funny, you don't really know someone, then when you meet them, there actually way more congenial and intelligent than they seem. but i'll be the first to say, i will from now on, second guess my first impressions, and go with what i know, i am 42 years old, and still learning, i'm a big enough man to admit, openly, and freely, i was wrong for jumping to conclusions. a lesson, well learned. i belive in the ying/yang theory, and i believe it all balances out, i hope my nationwide apology is well accepted, it is my prayer that it will be, all i can do is ask for forgiveness. ramon, zennie, and slappie, (i think) are not bad people at all, i appluad their abilities, and look forward to jumping with them soon, if they will! i'm taking a chance here, and i know it, but i have to say, what's in my heart. All The Hate Mail Your Going To Obtain From This Is Not Going To Affect Me One Little Bit, Your The One It's Going To Hurt, Me Ignorant....RAT TRAP! It's A Word, Look It Up! And Mine Just Went SNAP!

if we do, i'll give you the "first lick" and i'll give you a chance to knock my teeth out. if i were you, and i'm glad i'm not, i'd think twice before threatning someone, it can, and generally does backfire on you. watch your mouth Richard

as i've stated in the past, i have no patience for incorigibles. last week everyone was flaming this guy, he must be in possesion of photographs of each and everyone of you now, in comprimising situations. my initial intention was to "scare him away" but now thanks to ya'lls efforts, i suspect now we'll be baradged with assinine posts. i was patient with him long enough. damn straight he does, he has every right to speak his mind, we don't? bull shit. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------He's got a right post on old threads, new threads, and even create more threads. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please stop posting new threads. Just limit yourself to the ones that are already here. Thank you. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- mountainman has the same rights as well, why shouldn't he be able to speak his mind without the response of your rhetoric? clinton is a special person, one with learning dissorders, and multiple personalities, do i feel sorry for him...yes, do i envy him, fuk no! would i want to have him in my immediate vicinity, fuk no! "IF" this guy ever gets to jump, in my opinion, barry will be busy, i only hope is he takes out only himself. please do not inhibit others right to freedom of speech, expletive, or not. i still say adamantly FUK HIM! i fly a triathlon 170, and at one time or another, it was pulling the same stunt you described. once i deployed, and the canopy went into a wicked counter clock wise spin, leaving me in a belly to earth position under my inflated canopy. i assed the situation, i thought i had a line over at first, but upon further observation, i came to the conclusion that it was not my canopy as it was fully inflated, but not stable, or steerable. so i unstowed my brakes, the canonpy started behaving itself, and the rest of the dive was uneventful. after returning to the packing area, i traced out the steering lines, which i haven't checked for a while (a divemaster of mine helped bring this to my attention, thanks derek!) the left hand steering line had a shitload of twists in it, causing it to deploy in a spin, because it was shorter than the right hand side steering lines. the canopy had been telling me for a few dives that something wasn't right, because it was opening off heading, and in a slight left hand spin. check your steering lines every repack! i never thought it would cause an event like this, but hey, it did! hope this insight helps. you kind of missed the point. i surely didn't mean if someone is 10' under you. you should never have been in a position like that to begin with. this guy was 1000' below me, i know it takes my canopy 500' to deploy, and i had a fucking 8 way towards the dropzone, yeah, good decision, track over an 8 way? i think not. before you go critisizing, know ALL the facts. you track to the highway if you want. i took the action i deemed approiate, we all lived and everything was kewel. and to tell you the truth, the other diver should have never flew under me, he was just showing his ass. (he jumped out after me, i was headdown, he was in a sit part of the way, then transcended into a stand) would you propose "tracking away", if a big way was "tracking" away under you? i'd like to see that shit! it wouldn't work out to your advantage, i gaurentee you! (we had 20 mph headwinds that day) Blue Skies Richard "Gravity Is My Friend"

Hey Zennie: i know they make a sort of tennis birdie device, that will give you some motion detection reference. i'm not sure where one could be obtained. ive seen one employed by a freeflyer on the "crosswinds" video. Richard "Gravity Is My Friend" congrats to all at SDSL for your recent accomplishments!

Jeji: this teqnique was taught to me at skydive spaceland in rosharon, texas. but now that i jump a different dropzone, they obviously don't know about it. it's referred to as "russian radar" it's a good teqnique, and should be imployed in my opinion. just yesterday at the dropzone, we had an 8 way go out, a sitflier, then myself, i counted to 12, mississippis in between and all, while at 6K i did a 360 to check for traffic, the 8 wat was to my right, a standflier was falling past me, flew under me and deployed, i dumped right then and there (at 4K) no decision, no second thoughts. always be aware of others in the air, and tell the other sky divers that jump before, and after you what you intentions are, disscuss these things on the ride to altitude. never mind them "skygods" rushing you out the door, a 7 second delay, or a 45 degree angle is acceptable, but when winds aloft are high, you definitely need to allow more time for seperation, give the count, check the light, make your move! and if in freefall someone deploys under you, don't hesitate, dump! (the guy that dumped under me yesterday didn't even wave off, but my decision was made very quickly! Blue Skies, Hot Days: Richard "Gravity Is My Friend"

You're not supposed to "cut off" another canopy -------------------------------------------------------------------- on this particular day, the other jumper was above, and behind, and obviously too close to me, we hadn't planned any crw work that i knew of! if i'm cruising under canopy, i "leave a margin for error" just for those types of incidents. the best cure is prevention in the first place. i'm 13 months in the sport, and 250+ sky dives, but that don't mean jack. anybody can go down, no matter how many dives, or how long in the sport. i've certainly lived long enough to realize my mortality, as i'm sure you have as well. i have never met the other jumper, he was from out of state, and was not familiar with the drop zone. haven't seen him since either.
